NFL Combine Thread

580 posts in this topic

Pretty much what the title states, might as well get a thread going devoted to the combine in a couple weeks. While we wait around for it, there is plenty to talk about in terms of how certain people will test and who some potential workout warriors could be.

A couple players who I think may turn some heads come combine time are:

Robert Nkemdiche - Let's just say that I view him as one of the most athletic defensive linemen to come out in years and I think he is going to wow a lot of people at the combine. There are obviously still significant concerns with him but athleticism will not be one of them.

Marquez North - Did not even know that he declared until recently and he has had a quiet past couple of years against Tennessee due to injuries but he is talented and could turn some heads like Waller and Conley did last year.

Who do you think will turn some heads at the combine and who may disappoint in the drills? All that and more can be discussed here.

Artie burns being a 6'2" track star with very solid corner skills could work himself into the late first or early 2nd with his combine

I think Montese Overton the LB from ECU is gonna light up the combine and I actually wouldn't mind if the Ravens drafted him, he's a little undersized at 6'3" 221lbs but if he could just get to around Mosely's weight (235lbs) I think he could help us, he's not just a workout warrior though because when you watch the tape, he blazes around the field really one of the fastest LBs I've seen and looks pretty versatile too as he lined up at LB off and on the LOS and in the slot. He supposedly ran 4.3 in the 40 at school usually those numbers are a little exaggerated, but I'd wouldn't be suprised if he ran somewhere in the 4.4s

Billings will have a great bench press.

Will Redmond will also display a good 40 yd dash.. i just wouldn't bet as high as with the previous forecast.

My favourite 2016 prospect is Javon Hargraves and I really wish him to turn some heads.. probably with the three cones drill given his low center of gravity and crazy hips.

I doubt Redmond will do much at the combine after tearing his ACL in October.

oh.. I didn't think my memories of him were that old dated.. too bad for him then.. then I'd only bet Billings will be the top performing DT, for now

Yeah. I read he also displayed terrific hands earlier this month. He's going to kill the combine.

I think Darian Thompson will turn some heads guy is a great free safety and 6' 2". He also got MVP honors at the Senior Bowl. I really hope he falls to the Ravens in the second round but I think he will bolster his stock draft and climb into the first because of the combine and pro workouts.

I think he's a better player than he is athlete and may turn out numbers that cause him to slide little bit.

What do you guys think of Treadwill not running the 40?

I think he's scared of the buzz of him running slowly dropping him.

This.  His people should already have an idea of what he will run and apparently its a time that will drop his draft value

The fact that he wants to wait for a very loose and unofficial timing is very telling

I was already expecting him in the 4.6 range, If he runs a 4.7 I don't think its a huge issue.  He didn't make his plays in college by blowing past people, he fights very well for the ball and can high point, guess the knock then would be he will be playing bigger faster stronger players every game now.  I am very interested to watch his stock

Obviously, he's not comfortable w/ the time(s) he may post.   He better catch EVERYTHING that touches his hands during the receiving drills.

This. Plus his stock has already fallen given that he isn't running the 40 at the combine. The reason they're avoiding running here is because of the press the combine gets and because he is slated as the top receiver in this class, it is understandable the damage a slow 40 would do to his draft status. But, avoiding running it here isn't going to help him much either.

Was just about to post the news about Treadwell but obviously youguys are ahead of the game today. Doesn't make me feel too great - I mean everybody knows he's not the fastest guy- but if he's not confident enough to atleast post a respectable time then I think teams should be a little reluctant to take him top 15. I mean I guess it could be a smart strategic move if he dominates everything else, but I just have more respect for players who just put everything on the table and say it is what it is. However I'm obviously not an agent or trainer.

If Treadwell would have ran a so-so 40 time but did well at the other important ones then I think people wouldn't have cared too much about that 40 time. But refusing to run it just makes it seem like a bigger deal.

I think Shaq Lawson could have a lot to gain in this combine. He has the chance to really solidify himself as the number 2 edge rusher behind Bosa, and to get someone in the top 10 to pick him. If he shows good agility, he could get a 3-4 team to think of using him as an olb.

He is running 4.7-4.78 range. Will be a mid to late roumd1 pick. I will bet anybody money Spence outruns him. I do like Treadwell however. Bosa will run sub 4.8 at about 280 lbs. Coleman looks to be #1 receiver off the board. Teams are getting over the Baylor thing and appreciating this guy.

Watch next year's WR class be great and we pick in the bottom half again. Smh.

I actually this this year's receiver class is good, it's just not as top loaded as the famous 2014 class. But there are like 10 WRs I can see being fairly successful in the NFL.

Yeah I said it in another thread but Treadwell not running the 40 leaves us to fill in the gaps. I don't think anyone expected him to crush the 40 but better to at least run it and not do well vs. not running at all.

Billings has a very good chance to beat the bench record and reportedly runs a 4.9 40. Could rise to a top fifteen pick.

I think he could have a surprisingly good 40 time, still not sure about him going top 10 though unless he really lights it up.

Well I hope the WR we get becomes a gem for us. Oh yeah, and Perriman too.

I don't think we will see a sub 5 40 from Billings(although his burst in short areas is underrated) but he could beat the bench record as he is one strong guy. I think Dallas would be the perfect place for him honestly
