Write up about Campanaro & 2014 WR Class

47 posts in this topic

I think Campanaro needs to stay healthy before we cut or consider him. I think we'll give him more chances, though, because he flashed when healthy but that's his problem. I think next year will be his final year if he can't stay healthy. I think his upside keeps him around for this season and next.

Here's to hoping the ever present (in his case) injury bug eludes him entirely and while I'm at it, go west about 4 hours and enjoy the great sights and sounds of Pittsburgh!

Camp could be a 80 reception guy if he could stay healthy, but I'd be absolutely shocked if he suits up for 16 games ever. His injury history I believe dates all the way back to high school. He didn't fall to the 7th because of any kind of meaaurables, it was because of injuries. If he could have stayed healthy in college he's a 3rd rounder at the absolute worst

He was healthy in high school. Was at every game and he barely missed any snaps let alone an games

lol I'm sorry but this is the biggest "man I hope they are actually good" list of WRs I've ever seen.

10 WRs, 6 were undrafted, 2 from the 6th and 7th round, 1 coming off an achilles tear at 37 years old, and a 4th rounder that pretty much did next to nothing while here.

I'm a huge homer but when you look at this list without bias, it's almost a laughable list.  That said, I still hope Waller and Perriman stun the world next season, Aiken/Butler contribute well, SSS kills it from the slot, and whatever WR they draft shows great potential for the future

To be fair, the Seahawks make a living of WR that went undrafted, such as Kearse and Baldwin, and won a Super Bowl with them. They only recently got contributions from a WR that's actually drafted.

Still been a consistent thing for him, and if he can't shake that, he won't be here much longer.  He may not have the long-term injuries, but he consistently has something going on.

They IR'd him instead of Perriman. Who knows the kind of numbers he would have put up had he not been shut down. Not Campanaros fault the team made poor judgement

My excitement comes from a more long term outlook than just next season. We found out what some of these players could do during the season, thanks to the large stack of injuries we picked up through the year. Each one of these guys will be looking to grab a spot next season so having some additional tape on these guys will go a long way. I would expect at the least 3 solid players from this list to consistently perform during the year, along with a possible high draft pick and/or FA selection. Having at least that much, along with a solid running game, brought about by possibly drafting a high rated T in the 1st, our TE's and stocked RB backfield, this would setup our offense for a long time. Besides, I dont see it laughable that we could possibly come away with a group good enough to carry just one rookie and/or FA and still be dynamic. Keep in mind our Oline was bad all year, which messes with the QB, which messes with the WRs performance as well. You give Flacco a solid line and some time and I bet alot of those players will show their actual potential and this offense will be steamrolling teams deep in January.

also to be fair, Baldwin is better than any WR we have.

Steve Smith Sr?

He's still originally an UDFA.

Not really tbh

SSr is better at the moment, don't know how I forgot about him lol.  Other than that though I don't see how you could make an argument for anyone else.  Hopefully BP comes in and can put up the same type of numbers.  I think if he was here he could put up great numbers but he has been in that run heavy offense for his career.

Well, Baldwin is better than Aiken (UDFA), Waller (rookie 6th), Campanaro (7th), and Breshad Perriman by default. That's not a fair comparison. Maybe things change this year because Baldwin wasn't some overnight sensation but built on his success gradually. We definitely need more talent at WR, though.

I doubt Givens makes it before Camp.  Too much potential there for him not to have another chance.

Completely agree.

My thoughts exactly. On both fronts.

Forgot to address this.  While that may be true, the point still holds that he's been oft injured.  Whether it's long term or not, he's still been on the trainer's table.  Even if we hadn't IR'd him, if history was any indication, he could have been banged up again later in the season.  It's not the length of the injury or anything that concerns me.  It's the frequency.

Wait, who are the 6-7? I see maybe 3 (that's including Perriman)
