Pre combine mock

12 posts in this topic

I couldn't fight off one last quick mock before the combine. This won't cover the entire first because I'm bored at work on my phone lol.

1. Titans - Tunsil

2. Browns - Goff

3. Chargers - Bosa

4. Cowboys - Ramsey

5. Jags - Buckner

6. Ravens - Hargreaves or jaylon Smith

Rumor has it the ravens had jaylon first on their board before the injury, if he clears well then I think he's the pick, but I Don't think they take the risk and take a beautiful scheme fit and a guy who can finally execute pees off coverage preferences, immediate secondary upgrade, turnover machine, and high character leader type of guy. We could have done so much more if only we lost one more game, oh well.

Round 2 - Tyler Boyd

Barring some big time sliders, I think he is still our guy. I think we will be intrigued with his relationship to engram and we will figure we can get the most out of him, not a sexy wr but we need a sure thing and a reliable target, Boyd just feels too right, finally we get a good reliable sure handed guy in the draft

Round 3 - kentrell brothers

Instinctive, not a great athlete though. A weak combine will push him down, and he will come in and be a starter before the end of the year. Not the fastest guy but is very good at mirroring the ball and the qb. He has a knack for blowing up plays by arriving at the perfect time due to his vision and anticipation. Even As a lesser athlete he may be a better coverage lb than Mosley on day 1

Round 4 - yannick ngakoue

I've soured after watching more tape. He is incredibly soft and makes very bad decisions. however He has legit moves and with another 10 lbs and a lot of studying he could be a very good project pick.

Denver Kirkland

Moves well, good athlete, could probably play g or t. Prototype swing lineman just how we like em.

Cyrus Jones

Immediate return ace, high motor, high character, hometown versatile db with swagger. He could be a project but I think at the very least he provides good depth for years to come.

I'll leave it at 4. I'll post my next one after the combine and it will be more complete with a full first round and all of our picks ?

Tyler Boyd is my favorite 2nd round WR. I didn't know he had a relationship with engram. Let's hope Bobby whisper sweet nothings into ozzie's ear and they draft him!

He coached him at Pitt before coming to baltimore and supposedly they both though very highly of each other. I think this one kinda feels like Destiny and I think he's every bit as polished and pro ready as amari cooper, he just has nowhere near the upside because he isn't anywhere near the same level of athlete. Still feels like a perfect choice though, I honestly hope there are no fallers here because I'm convinced Boyd will be our guy and that's how I want it

As you know I like Myles Jack for than Jaylon, but I wouldn't be opposed to this at all.  Boyd I would love to have here...

As you know I'm not a fan of Jack in the top 10 :) and Smith has really grown on me. I think he has an interesting skill set and could be a full time edge rusher if he worked at it, but even more intriguing i like the though of a 3-4 olb that only rushes on a part time basis but does it VERY effectively and does everything else at an elite level. I think with some work he could lead the league in pass rush productivity(as in a per rushing snap basis) and could also have tackle and coverage numbers like a top shelf MLB. Its a risk and I still don't think a ILB is worth our 6th pick, but if his knee checks out and our coaches think he is capable of playing such a diverse role like I do, then sign me up.

I've always been a fan of Hargreaves and I would love it if Brothers made it to us in the 3rd and I was glad to see he bulked up to 250lbs, he could be a real enforcer in the defense, still not sure about him in man coverage because he does have some limits athletically but our run defense would be incredible.

How not to love this draft?

The only thing that concerns me is Smith's ability to rush the passer from the edge, I have never seen him do that on the few films I watched on him.

If we could grab Yannick too, then maybe we could have jaylon at ILB until he gets his weight up if that's what the Ravens want from him

I know this is your mock but if I had to bet money I think pick 1 & 2 would go Smith, Jack, or a trade back to get Spence (unless his stock is lower than expected) than Hargreaves in the first and then taking Kendall Fuller in the second or possibly after trading up from our second. I think Fuller is probably our favorite DB after Ramsey, although I still like Hargreaves a lot.

I think Fuller is more of the type of CB we want. He's got the size and the ball skills, so I think he'd be more coveted than Hargreaves who lacks some size. They're both pretty good in technique, with Hargreaves ahead but not by a ton.

I still love Ngakoue a ton. He's my second favorite OLB after Spence, or third if you count Smith.
