There are arguments where it is harder to play RT and RG vs. LG & LT.  The reasoning and I can't remember where I read it, but most right handed QB's will genrally step left and the left side of the oline will also shift to the left, leaving the right side on an island.  This and the fact that great pass rushers are coming from both right and left side now.

In regards to a good left tackle helping out the guard position.  Absolutely, it's a domino effect.  To say that Tunsil won't help out the rest of the oline is absolutely a ridiculous statement.

disagree that there are great pass rushers on the left side now. I doubt Tunsil helps out year 1. Tackles struggle even if he's the most "polished" tackle to come out in recent memory.

Yes, but many of the top pass rushers come in from both sides now.  They don't just pass rush from one side, they also come in from the strong side.   I do believe Tunsil steps right in and helps out year one.  Many top rookie LT in year one help out right away.  The Skins Trent Williams for one was pretty good in year one and held his own in his first game going up against Ware on a Sunday night.

Williams gave up 11 sacks his rookie year lol. The amount of talent playing LOLB and LE is just better. RTs are a lot more valuable now.

So you would rather Monroe or Hurst be out there at LT?

Well we don't know if he will be healthy, he has certainly struggled there these past couple years and the FO certainly doesn't seem high on him right now.

I also disagree that RT are far more valuable than LT, they call it the blind side for a reason. The only reason teams have moved their best pass rushers to the other side is because most teams don't have good RTs and they can take advantage.

The NFL is a dynamic league. Its always changing. You once needed to stop the run and have a run game to win it all, then teams load up to do that and then the team's who can outscore those teams end up winning, then pass rush becomes the thing, then the OTs and possession wrs become the new thing, then it's all about having cbs who can overcome a lack of pass rush and stopping the quick release, now we're seeing a balanced offense making a return as the must have thing.

Point is, the league is constantly evolving, there's a pace that you have to be willing to keep up with, and you either fall behind the curve of the modern NFL or you time it just right and you become the team that lines up perfectly. I think right now it's about a strong secondary, protection on both sides to prevent matchup disadvantages, and a balanced offense with home run speed, the ravens really aren't that far off. We do need a LT or else were gonna struggle.

What if you fall so far behind that it catches back up to you? ? I think that might he the Browns plan.

Theyre doing it wrong. A qb who can do nothing but run has NEVER worked lol. They're lost in a time warp, the New 90s looking unis don't help either lol

Exactly why they are so much more valuable now. The best pass rushers are on their side now.

They are on that side because the players on that side are not good. Teams invest more into the LT position. Teams would pay RTs LT money if it were that valuable. It would be like arguing that the #2 CB is more important than the #1 CB because a team puts their best WR on them to avoid the #1 guy.

hearing news on percy harvin now,

maybe it is a smoke screen to get mike wallace to sign,

I can't find anything that says the rumor is coming from the Ravens though.  No anonymous source, no vague confirmation/denial.  I think this is speculation from the media based on our needs and budget.  They might be right (it does kinda make sense).  But I don't think we'll know for sure unless Wallace says no.

EDIT:  probably because Adam Schefter reported Friday that Harvin re-signed with the Bills.

Wallace will spend the day at the facility, and hopefully sign a prove it contract with incentives before he leaves.

This would be ideal. Weddle AND Wallace would be great. I think both players would do a lot for both sides of the ball.

I'm waiting with baited breath as to what happens with the Wallace visit, wine and dine today. Hopefully, he's come to realize he has to sign a 'prove it' deal this year so he resurrects his career. This is I believe his best opportunity to be successful as a deep threat.

What ever happened to our interest in Kelvin Beachum? I know he was visiting with the Jets, but haven't heard anything. Is his injury from last year a concern for teams? What's the deal with the Ravens though? Anybody read anything?

Bleacher Report has an article about his meeting with Jacksonville.  Afterwards he boarded a plane back home (Pittsburgh).  Jacksonville officials chased him to the airport and tried to get him to come off the plane to finish talking.  But it didn't work.   The screenplay should be downright charming though.

That's the only thing from this week.  Any stories about him and us are from last week.  It sounds like we haven't met with him yet.  I guess we're going down our wishlist, and we're just not to him yet?

This doesn't have to do with the Draft, but perhaps we feigned interest in Beachum as a threat to put some pressure on Monroe to take a pay cut.

Well, I'm noticing all the rumors about it are coming from the same guy at NFL.com,  everyone cites Aditi Kinkhabwala as their source.  So yeah, maybe we planted a story with him.  Or maybe Beachum's agent did.  It would be one explanation for all the articles coming out on the same day and nothing since.

This hurts the Steelers at least. Ryan Harris is no one to worry about if he ends up playing LT for the Steelers

Steelers are taking major hits.  I am glad they lost Bryant for the year, but I hope the kid gets his head right, never like hearing stuff like that.

This doesn't even count as a rumor; it's purely gossip.

BUT... for all those people on here who have been saying it "feels" like Bosa will be the one to drop to us, you may have a point.  Walter Football is saying that Bosa and Ezekiel Elliott were roommates for a while and hosted most of the parties.  They're suggesting these are the guys that Noah Spence wouldn't name, and that Bosa had to move out to get away from Elliott's parties.  It goes on to say that Bosa does go to raves but claims it's just for the music.  Neither Elliott nor Bosa have tested positive, which is why I say gossip and not rumor, but it does add up a little.  Neither of these guys had great combine interviews, and Bosa is projecting lower than he used to (still top 10, like the article mentions).

It could be nothing.  But it does explain some things.  If the stories are believable, after the week we just had, Elliott seems like a loooooonnnnnnnng shot at #6.

I don't think Elliot was ever in our crosshairs at 6

There's been some talk about it on the forums here, so I thought people might be interested.  Before we signed Wallace, he was probably the biggest playmaker on offense available.
