Hope u guys dont mind if I lay out the game plan for this one.

Offense:
Open it up right off the start.Show more 3 & 4 WR sets.
Give Flacco more targets. If Heap cant go the distance give Wilcox more
looks. He is proven. This should open more running lanes.

Defense:
Throw everything at them including the kitchen sink.
Ben sux under pressure.

Final thought:
I wanted to see the Squeelers win just to have another shot at them.
They cant expect the refs to carry them this time.(Can they?)
Im also glad they are healthy....
I dont want them to have any excuses for losing.
Plan & simple,go up in their house and beat the snot out of them!!!

I came to this thread hoping. What a shame.

Offense: I agree on Flacco needing targets, but he needs to manage and be deliberate. No INTs would make it a difficult game, if he can do it. Getting our Running Game won't be as easy as last game, so I'm expecting a 50/50 spread from the Ravens.

Defense: Ben sucks under pressure? Now listen here kiddo, he isn't perfect but 16(or is it 17?) game winning drives with one of the worst O-Lines in the league, a notoriously strong and resilient quarterback, with a SB ring...he does not suck under pressure. Like any QB, it just causes problems. Tom Brady sucks under pressure.

Refs to carry us? We beat you straight and correct both times, almost all the calls were correct, even the TD one. You get some, you lose some, don't forget your Delay call. Just like ours, it probably wouldn't have changed the game.

I'll keep an eye on this thread in hopes that someone from the Ravens side posts with integrity.

That said, I think its going to have to be a balanced, manageable game from the Ravens. Limit turnovers and keep it within 1 possession, and I think Flacco has the potential for a game-winning drive.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the ravens come out with some 3/4 receiver sets and let flacco get in a groove. Probably wont happen though. Our Oline has way to many problems. If the playcalling is anything like the first time the ravens played the steelers, we've got a good chance.

Sometimes Flacco doesn't even finish his drop and he's got pressure in his face, Flax has been doing a good job throwing it away.

agreed...but o-line was said to be one of our biggest weaknesses going in and now they arent mentioned. thats a good thing. if the o-line holds the steelers to 0 sacks i think i will be fishing in tampa in 2 saturdays trying to calm my nerves!!!!

The Trips Bunch Set is the Steelers money set and I'm wonder how Rex will go about slowing it down/ confusing Big Ben. Its a WR on one side of the field and 2 WR's on the other side with a TE on the same side.

They was tourching the Chargers with it and even before that game I have notice a while ago that the Steelers confuses defenses with this set!

Anyone have any idea of how you think Rex will go about making this set a non-factor b/c we take away this set and I feel we win the game!

I think this game is going to come down to two things:

Turnovers - Both defenses are aggressive and apply alot of pressure on a QB, ball control and field position will be everything.

Flacco handling the pressure of playing in the AFC Championship in his rookie year. Ben was the man his rookie year, he played with ice in his veins the whole year, until we hosted the AFCC game against the pats, and he turned into a rookie quick.

I guess three things - I forgot about the ref's - let's all hope that they lose their yellow hankies on the way to the game. None of us want to see this one end in controversy.

We're playing the Steelers about 10 times a year it seems. If Rex still hasn't figured out how to stop them from completing those short passes and dumpoffs to the RB's then he should just go ahead and leave at the end of the season. What Rex did the last time when he gave their receivers 10 yard cushion at the 10yd line was just embarrassing.

I hope this time he plays more zone coverage. Our linebackers are way too slow to cover anybody. Johnson is basically a DE playing LB. Scott and Lewis are 3-4 ILB thumpers. We don't have a speedy linebacker who can cover a RB, WR or TE man to man. If Barnes is healthy he could be one of those key guys on defense.

Our cornerbacks stink, especially the guys behind Rolle and Washington. I hope this time we make use of our depth at Safety. Make use of Zbikowski and Nakamura, don't just put them in there in the 4th quarter when Leonhard gets tired. Line them up at LB, let them blitz, drop back in zone coverage or cover people man to man. The Steelers had some trouble yesterday with the safety blitz.

I would like to see us use this formation. You have Reed on Ward, Leonhard over the top to make sure they don't go deep. On the other side you have Washington on Holmes with Nakamura over the top, he's good in deep coverage. Then you have Zibby on Miller, he's physical and he excels in zone coverage, plus he can stuff the run and blitz. Outside you have Pryce and Suggs. If Pryce ties up Stapleton & Colon then Suggs could easily get to the QB without anyone touching him. If Parker decides to block him then we can send Lewis over the middle. Or blitz Zibby over the left side and then let Leonhard cover Miller. There are so many different combinations, i think we could have some success with that. The Steelers haven't seen those formations yet, they are not prepared.

--------------------------------------------------S Leonhard----------------------------------------------------------S Nakamura-------------------------------
CB Rolle--------------------CB Reed-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------CB Washington
---------------------------------------------S Zbikowski-------------------------------LB Lewis---------------------LB Suggs-----------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------DE Johnson--------------------NT Ngata---------------------DE Pryce-----------------------------------

WR Washington-----------WR Ward--------------LT Starks----LG Kemoeatu--C Hartwig--RG Stapleton--RT Colon--------------------WR Holmes
---------------------------------------------TE Miller-------------------------------QB Rothlisberger--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------RB Parker-------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------S Leonhard-----------------------------------------------------S Nakamura------------------------------------
CB Rolle--------------------CB Reed-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------CB Washington
---------------------------------------------------LB Suggs-----------------------LB Lewis------------------------------------S Zbikowski----------------------
---------------------------------------------------DE Johnson--------------------NT Ngata---------------------DE Pryce----------------------------------------

WR Washington-----------WR Ward--------LT Starks----LG Kemoeatu--C Hartwig--RG Stapleton--RT Colon-------------------------WR Holmes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------QB Rothlisberger------------------------------TE Miller-------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------RB Parker----------------------------------------------------------------------

That's about it. What i don't want to see again is this awful nickel formation with Ivy/Walker in the slot on Hines Ward and Scott at LB.

I would like to see some more bump and run. It seems that our CB's are usually playing 10yds off. That drives me nuts. This was part of the reason (among others) the Steelers drove 90+ yds to beat us the last time

The way to beat the Squeelers blitzers is to get rid of the dang ball!

They are quick on a blitz and they jam recievers taking away the quick pass.

The backs are gonna need to get outside the pocket very quickly for dump offs.

McClain - McGahee and the o-line need to have a much better game up front.

The unbalanced line seemed to work fairly well during our second game against Pittsburgh. At the very least, it managed to neutralize James Harrison.

With the Vegas line at -5 Ravens could be pistioned well.

This is how it was always going to work.Tt is as it should be- to get the crown best play the best. This should be another WAR as was Tennessee and Baltimore.

Issues-Ravens played a punishing game with Titans with injuries to Suggs, Leonard, Rolle..... Not to mention Rice.

To win the Ravens need:
1. To re introduce Rice for variety and to releiveve McGhee. Rice I think has more darting speed. I like Oneil coming out of backfeild catching the ball.Him one on one with LB or Db is a mismatch.
2. Suggs and Leonard injuries are ost key to health.
3. The offense has to contribute more. Open Flacco to the middle throgh using Mason. Heaps and running back. Flacco needs to have game planning for quck popper going to middle (at hike oe step and throw). Impsoosible to defend.
4. 2 and 3 are necessary to cause Harrison and Plomahu to have to stay back, reducing rush.
5. O Line is going to have to lay their A+++ game.

Ravens 23- 20

Very good post!

I am not a fan of Zone coverage on a team like the steelers. They will pick you apart underneath all game with a QB like Roethlisberger. It is maddening to give a guy a 10 yard cushion in the nfl. Just maddening.

Well the cornerbacks would still play man coverage. It's mostly the linebackers (in zone). We can't put a guy like Scott or Johnson on Miller or Ward.

Agreed, we need to jam the receivers and not give them 10 yards to play with. If Ward is in the slot, I hope we have someone better than Ivy or Walker watching him...

Offensively I think it's time McGahee gets the start again. I think McClain is too banged up right now (all those carries are finally starting to take its toll). Mixing it up with McGahee and Rice is key. We're probably still going to go max protect with Flacco so don't expect many 3 WR sets. I'd like for us to have nice sustained drives to keep our D as fully rested as possible. I don't want to see them tired again in the 4th quarter.
