Mackensie Alexander v. VH3

Alexander does this extremely well. I'm always amazed at his ability to play the ball so well because it allows him to get away with a decent amount of grabbing and hand fighting that the Ravens current corners would assuredly draw a flag on because they do not get their heads around.

He can keep his eyes on the ball when the qb has it but can't turn his head to locate it in the air, so he is about half of hargreaves caliber in that aspect.

I just think I'd rather go with the safe bet and I think that's hargreaves

I deep down think that Alexander will be this years Marcus Peters. For him it just seems that the sky is the limit and if he had the ball skills he would be a consensus top 10, perhaps top 5 guy. His coaches and teammates have said his football IQ is off the charts, which that is one of the most important things for a player to have to accompany physical abilities.

VH3. With him and smith on the outside. With healthy depth behind them playing slot or the other way around for the first few games. Webb at free safety, will hill at strong safety. The secondary would be sick. Address the pass rush in the second and this defense would have the potential to finish top 3.

He's definitely an extremely smart football player and a film room junkie.  That being said, I've noticed the same thing that Flex mentioned in game film, that Alexander doesn't turn his heat.  Something a lot of corners don't do and interference calls follow.

I agree, I seen a lot of that where he tries to play off of the receiver and his body language rather than turning around to locate the ball.

5 years ago (pre Edelman, Brown, and other smaller quick guys) I'd say Alexander by a mile.  Don't think VH3 can match up with outside guys.

You put a gun to my head and I'll say Alexander, but I hate choosing. Lol. This is a really tough choice imo.

That's why I started this thread because a lot of people are torn, but realistically if we traded back and Spence was gone, this might be a potential decision to be made by Oz and co.

When you pull the trigger the bullet comes out and kills you.

I've seen that as well, and I've seen there are concerns that he'll come in a bit smaller than his listed height and weight as well.

I go back and forth between them a lot. I said Alexander because of his work ethic, but right now I'm leaning towards VH3.

Xavian Howard or Kendall Fuller in the 2nd or 3rd round. I feel like a cornerback (except Ramsey, would love him at 6.) in the first is to risky, as well as injury prone. ACL tear in training camp would be a heart breaker.

They should be fired Lmao, he won't escape the first, I'd put my life savings on him never sliding past the second, and that is still a stretch.

Then give up your $48.65 because he is going in the second round to the Ravens. Rather have Eli Apple in the second. Or William Jackson lll

Will you turn your font pink on here if he is taken in the first?

lmao somewhere around that number, I am a broke Law Student, but anyway, I meant to state that at worst he would slide into the second, but the chances of him making it to the third are zero. Any team in the second that needs a corner will pull the trigger in the second most likely. If we grab BPA in first and got him in the second I would literally cry tears of joy because his ceiling I feel is absolute shut down corner and his floor is top-tier nickel corner, or something similar to Robey or Verrett. Teams might see his lack of turnovers, height, and inability to turn his head to play the balls at time, as a concern, which I hope they do because I would take him over any other corner past VH3 and Ramsey because he has great speed, instincts, and hips to blanket WRs

Looks like Alexander will not be participating in the combine because of a hamstring injury. I have definitely soured on him.

Think we will get his measurements just not his workout numbers.

Both come in at 5'10" at the combine. Alexander has longer arms though

Very very interesting. I felt positive that they weren't any taller than 5'10. I am wondering how fast Hargreaves's 40 will be. Also, I don't think the combine has hurt or helped Alexander, he most likely will go between 10-25. Certainly could slide if any other corners do very well tomorrow.

Vh3 not clocking in at 5'9" like I was worried he would is good news. Anything sub 4.5 for him I think makes him a good value at 6. I'd still love to have him here

At this point if the top 5 picks were Tunsil, Ramsey, Bosa, Buckner and Jack then I would still be a happy camper with Hargreaves, he will fit our scheme and immediately make a big difference in turnovers and consistency. If Pees was smart he would also have him and Jimmy in the right positions to play to their strengths, obviously not pairing Hargreaves with Monster Veteran WRs--tall and athletic like AJ Green--in his rookie year lol. I was and still am a huge Alexander fan, but it is disappointing that he will most likely miss Clemson's pro day as well.

My pick would probably be Hargreaves from what I saw of him at the combine. I like what I saw from Alexander after watching a few of the latter games of last season but he came across as somebody who could produce flags more often than we'd like in the NFL.

For people wondering if someone VH3's size can match up with bigger WR's in the NFL here's an interesting stat. In 2014 Joe Haden matched up with AJ Green in both meetings and in those 2 games he held him to a combined 8 catches on 21 targets for 72 yds and 0 TD's. Over a 2 game span that is really impressive.

Interesting stat, but Haden is already a proven veteran and Hargreaves could certainly develop into that quick which is why I like is upside a lot.
