[News] Ravens' Super Bowl XXXV Defense Tops Broncos' Super Bowl 50 Defense

25 posts in this topic

Lets be honest, the Panthers didn't come mentally prepared to play. Too much media hype for the Panthers leading up to the game. You could see it in the offensive swagger of the Panthers, or lack there of. Cam Newton was feeling himself too much as well. I called it down to the pin days before the game. I had the Panthers winning weeks ago, but in the past week you could just see the media fueling the Broncos to win. Happens every Super Bowl now. Whoever the media is hyping leading up to the SB, is the team that will lose momentum.

Well for that matter, I don't think any defense was as dominant as ours was in 2000

Agreed. It was also this way because everyone else witnessed it said as much, not because they claimed the title for themselves. This is how you earn what you want. No one or group of people become great without others noticing and it's only when others respect what you have accomplished that you can truly say your have arrived.

Overall, for an entire season, the Ravens 2000 D was better. No doubt about it but the Broncos D is also something special. The immovable object stopped the irresistible force, at least this time.

I'll be glad when we can stop reflecting on a dominant defense from SIXTEEN years ago.

Don't count on that happening any time soon. I don't think we're going to see another defense as dominant as the 2000 one for a long time, if ever.

Irresistible force? Did you mean the unstoppable force v. the immovable object?

No. The immovable object(Broncos D) vs. the irresistible force(Panthers O)

So can we stop all this talk about a number one receiver? Its Defense! defense! DEFENSE!

+100

Maybe in the SB but getting there a team still needs a speedy WR.

The Ravens D was better for an entire season, they were better in the SB, and they were better in the whole postseason. Besides giving up 0 points and less than 200 total yds in the SB, they only gave up 1 TD in all 4 playoff games combined. In 4 playoff games, they gave up a TD and 3 FGs, which is exactly 4 ppg. Even though the Ravens played one more playoff game than the Broncos, the Ravens gave up less than half as many points in the postseason as Denver.

It's just interesting how the coin has flipped from 2013. Then it was the super offense of the Broncos against the Seahawks' defense and most chose the NFL record setting offensive prior to the game.

um...we had a dominant defense for about 10 years. that 2000 defense is considered one of the best of all time, that's why its brought up. Way to turn something so positive into something negative

And what's your point in as much that I agree with most of what you claim in my post?
