Yeah it's not like this is Madden where you can still get value out of a real life retired player who is still in the game.  If a guy retires, he retires.  He's not going to do your team any good sitting at home.

Sometimes I wonder. :P

Again I repeat myself, what are we going to do about the New Orleans Saints? Free Agency is going to start and we have so many trades in limbo? An owner who is only talking BS, he is talking for weeks that he will updating everything "tonight". Tonight is long gone. Look at his so called SoF it is a shame of a SoF, he didn't even do a Depth Chart. Even Madden would be insulted by his actions. We replaced Chiefs owner because she was not active. What do you call the Saints owner doing? Showing up once a week, doing trades without confirming, burning the Saints roster, cutting everyone with value except the mascot. It took way too long for the CoCos to take action but on the Eve of Free Agency it is time to finally do it.

Thanks a lot

If it really comes down to it, I'll take the Saints too. I'd prefer someone come off the bench, but if that's not possible than I'll take them over. Atleast until we find a replacement. People need to know how those trades go so that they know who to pursue in free agency.

Yeah, I can definitely see the frustration about people being unsure about the trades with the Saints. I agree a decision might need to be made one way or another.

Is @Italian Raven ready to take over if needed? Fwiw I wouldn't be opposed to letting the new GM apply a franchise tag to someone if that's how things go down (assuming they can find the space...).

@regz1997 Asked last week if there still is a place for him so we might have a replacement

It is being handled as I type this.  We do have a replacement in line for if/when he is replaced.  I know it may seem like an annoyance from the outside, but we do have some internal things to consider as well which is why there has been a delay.  I can assure you guys that a resolution will be coming soon.

That roster was a challenge to begin with, let alone the fact that FA starts in less than 24hrs. Good luck to the replacement GM but yep, it's time to move on.

Good attempt there on Amukamara. He might be injured a lot, but thought he'd be worth the risk to a team with a lot of cap. That's standard pricing for a CB of his caliber. Figured t3h would match, but like the thought process.

Full free agent list will be posted right before FA for that position starts. Its easy to find a list of UFAs on the internet

I thought about letting the Jags eat up some cap room, but I still have enough to do some damage after paying for Amukamara.  Ultimately I only lost 1 star by not franchising.

This. I definitely understand the frustration but it's not as if we went through the span with radio silence. There were signs of life involved that made it difficult to pull the plug on what could've been a turn around situation. The fact that no formal rules were broken made it even more so. Obviously the unconfirmed trades worked against the spirit of the trades, however. And this is why we're amidst a very plausible replacement move.

Yeah, I figured if he was my guy I'd have franchised him and not given it a second thought. I was expecting a match, but even with the injuries Prince was good enough to justify the hit and give it a go.

Was concerned after initial talks with Smoke about Brooks that he might make a legit offer I couldn't match. Happy he stayed here, wouldn't have known what to do with that extra cap space

Interesting turn of events with Amukamara is staying in New York.

Not necessarily, he could be had in a trade ;).

What I would like to question are some of the actual trades. Should anybody in this game be allowed to trade franchise LT, recent 1st round WR (very productive one) and recent 1st round LB (arguably the team's best defender) for late 1st, 2nd and 3rd? I would have thought any one of these players is roughly worth that price on his own, give or take.

Why I didn't risk Beachum on the transition tag even though I was tempted, I don't have the cap to experiment with that type of thing.

On a side note, I'd wholly disagree on Anthony considering how much he struggled in his rookie season, but I understand where you're coming from. That being said, this game is all about sincerity. If a member truly believes they're doing what's the in the best interest of their direction, then it's difficult to decide for them what they should and shouldn't do. I certainly agree on the importance of those players and the surprise of them being available.

I actually think Anthony didn't do really bad, considering he didn't have the easiest of lives behind that D line - lot of potential still but yeah, the above would have been tad too much

I think what we have to take into consideration is, not only where they high draft pick and a good or bad rookie season doesnt define a players career, all the dead cap you have to take dealing players like Cooks and Anthony. It would not matter for a team like Jacksonville or Oakland but for the Saints it a whole different story.

I do agree with your point though Truth if an Owner/GM truly believes that that is the best for the franchise to do it is well within his right to do it. But we should still keep some at least a little bit of realism in this game as well. And I think we all agreen that what he is doing is far away from both realism and "best for the franchise"

Saints cut

Drew Brees

Jarius Byrd special cut rule

Danell Ellerbe

Thomas Morstead.

Brandon Browner

Over the cap has restructured cap hits and not original cap hits. Where can I find original cap hits. In any word these guys are free agents.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/cap/

To work out your savings, you subtract the dead money from the cap hit. So for the guys you listed:

Drew Brees: 30 stars cap hit minus 21 stars dead money = 9 stars saved

Dannell Ellerbe: 3 stars cap hit minus no dead money = 3 stars saved

Thomas Morstead: 4.5-1 = 3.5 stars saved

Brandon Browner: 6.5-5.5 = 1 star saved

Jairus Byrd is the exception, so you just save his base salary of 7.5 stars.

All up, that's 24 stars saved.

I would cut Brees special rule and have kept Byrd but whatever.

According to overthecap, there is no difference if Brees gets post June 1 designation

If I were I would not have traded for Breaux as you definitely have seen that he had already agreed to a deal that has been postet of course he has not confirmed it.

But I guess that's just a character thing.
