1 star.  .75 would round up.

Question: if the FA is signed for 1.5 stars, does cutting him save 0.5 or 1 star?

Correct, from the rules thread

Free agents that are signed can be released afterwards, but you only get back half the cost. (Round up for cuts if they were at a .5 for the star. This means a player signed for 2.5 stars could be cut for savings of 1.5 stars, half of it is 1.25 which rounds up to 1.5 stars.) The only exception is players that were signed for 0.5 stars, who can be cut for the full 0.5 stars.

How is just looking at the base salary and seeing that harder than going off what a cap manager says?

It takes 5 minutes. No calculator, no spreadsheets, no typing in numbers.

Cool. And if I trade him, the entire amount is saved or also 1 star?

Samesies.

Right, then you need to change your total cap, dead cap and stars remaining.

Actually, one more related question - if I end up trading FA who was signed for 1.5 stars, does the other trade party pays 1 star or 1.5 stars?

You would have to change those numbers in the SOF using the cap calcuclator as well. And dead cap does not get updated once the game starts, you only take the savings into account.

We've always traded the full amount in the past considering that there are no guarantees in the contract. Not entirely certain though.

Other team takes on a 1.5 star cap hit as that's the base salary.

Spotrac's feature is great but the problem is that if someone restructures, gets cut, etc. and you later trade them or cut them, things can get messy.

If you need a kicker you want Andrew Franks not Caleb Sturgis. Franks replaced Sturgis in Miami last year (cut Sturgis and kept Franks).

Hashtag shotsfired.

I think your numbers are just a tiny bit off...

Nah, Bell's cap hit was over 10 mil obviously leading to such a significant amount of savings if cut

Well hey, while you all are fighting about kickers, don't forget that Panthers DE Charles Johnson (11 stars) is available!

Yeah that's the real kicker... what a deal!!

Are real life player retirements still being considered? Rashean Mathis and Jerod Mayo retired today.

If a player retires in real life, they have retired on here. I don't know why anyone would want to keep a player around who has retired in real life

Just didn't know if the rosters locking changed that or not for this season.

WR Free Agency begins tomorrow night correct?

All rosters locking does is prevent new moves made by a team in real life to be made on your team. If the Steelers cut Big Ben tomorrow, I would still have him on my team. If they signed JJ Watt, I would not get JJ Watt on my team. If a player retires, they are retired. Rmw wishes that wasn't the case but it has been that way for a while and it wouldn't make much sense if a player who retired was playing on in this game.

Yeah it's not like this is Madden where you can still get value out of a real life retired player who is still in the game.  If a guy retires, he retires.  He's not going to do your team any good sitting at home.
