[News] Eisenberg: Ravens Aren't That Far Off From Broncos

24 posts in this topic

One thing is for sure, we will have the best seasoned back ups in the league after last years injuries force a baptismal by fire for many of them. The Ravens were without a doubt the best worst team in the league last year, let's see if this year they can be the best, best team in the league! GO RAVENS!

One of the biggest issues the Ravens have is that they cannot keep their players healthy. This was the second straight season where the Ravens ranked near the top of the league in players on IR. That's a disturbing trend. If Baltimore can't keep their guys healthy, it really doesn't matter who gets drafted/signed in the offseason. When you play without your top WR, starting QB, #1 draft pick, and top defensive player (just to name a few key players), you're going to wind up with a 5-11 record and far, far away from the postseason. Maybe a bigger issue this offseason than looking at the secondary and receivers should be taking a close look at the personnel who make up the strength & conditioning and medical staffs. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, I just hope it gets fixed between now and September.

Amen to that. Too many games won and lost by small majority of points. Too many injuries to key players. First round pick not on the field for one snap. It goes on and on. I was proud of this team for fighting week after week. Moving on is a good thing. Just tell the talking heads not to pick us to get into playoffs and super bowl lol!

Forget the Broncos and focus on winning our division. Once Peyton retires they are back to reality. Right now we are the 3rd best team in the AFC North. To get back to the top we have to figure out a way to slow down A. Brown and Aj Green. Our division is getting better so we must keep up.

Yes we are. Defense wins championships and we don't have a playoff caliber defense. We could have been aggressively trading up to draft the Defensive Rookie of the Year: Marcus Peters who showed all the signs of being a star coming out of Washington. Swapping the 26th Pick for the 17th would have cost us our 2nd Round pick and in return we would have received the trade partner's 4th Rounder. How much better would our team have been this year if we had Peters starting at CB with Jimmy Smith instead of Breshad Perriman and Maxx Williams? No doubt, Maxx Williams looks promising, but we found value in TE in the 5th Round.

I think Ozzie needs to get more aggressive and trade up for the guys we truly covet at high impact positions. This wait and see what happens approach has let us miss out on 2015: Peters, 2013: Desmond Trufant, Alec Ogletree, Sharrif Floyd Xavier Rhodes, 2012: Donta Hightower, Chandler Jones, 2010: Dez Bryant. Lats time we traded up for a player in the 1st Round was 2009 Michael Oher. We can't miss in the 1st Round.

The Ravens are in a position to improve their team through the draft. If Perriman returns healthy and performs, that is like having an extra first round pick. Frazier can hopefully coach up the secondary. Suggs returning means a better pass rush with him , Dumervil, and Z Smith. The challenge becomes every other team has a draft too. Steelers will look to improve their secondary, Patriots will get O-line help, Chiefs and Bengals are already stacked with talent. In the NFC, Cards, Packers, Seahawks, Panthers are top notch. Every season takes on an identity of its own. There is no telling who will be the top teams in 2016, but the Ravens have their work cut out to be in the SuperBowl like this year's Broncos.

There is no way that this team can be compared to the Denver Broncos. The reality of the matter is this team does not know how to strive for perfection, they are to willing to settle for loses and blow them off, aw we're not going to win them all mentality. With that kind of attitude it is no wonder why we finish 3rd in the division so often. John Harbaugh should take the initiative to strive towards perfection for once to not only make the playoffs but get home field advantage as well. Stop settling for 3rd place!!!!!!!!

The Ravens had a playoff team at the start of 2015 and injuries set them up to be a top team for 4 more years at pick 6 in the draft. If they do trade back in the 1st round and grab an extra 2nd round pick with 4 comp. picks, than we could contend for 5 years! The light at the end of the tunnel grows brighter my friends !

1st round picks are not a lock in the NFL. Your second round pick could be better than your first. The Ravens picked up some really good players in last years draft. Revis couldn't win the jets a super bowl and I know Marcus Peters is not the answer. You ended with Michael Oher as an example ? Oher would still be here if that move was great.

Now the backups will be ready to go. I hope the coaches can bring their A game, to get everything else heading inn the right direction.

All I am saying is that we have not been aggressive enough in the 1st Round, trading up for guys who in my eyes were locks. Oher I knew nothing about, but Peters had the making of a lock down Corner. Perriman was raw, and notorious for drops in college. I didn't like the pick at the time, but I still have high hopes for him based off his size/speed. I would have preferred Peters all day. One player is never the answer. I never made that claim. The guys I named were guys I thought we could have easily traded up for based on where we were drafting. Dez Bryant, Ogletree, and Peters stand out the most to me though.

Agreed. John needs to admit that we cannot afford losses. We will move on, however there is no excuse for poor play and poor execution. Coaching included!. Time to move this team to the top and stay on top.

We need to get back to dominance on Defense !
We need a defensive coordinator that has that mindset..!
Let's just bury "Bend Don't Break" and get back to SMASH MOUTH !

But their are no locks in the NFL. You must first play at an NFL level with equal talent.

Darian Stewart is gettting a Super Bowl ring, he was once a Raven. The Ravens have to resign some of their own people(Upshaw, Osemele).

"Not that far off the Broncos"? Literally Baltimore is miles away from Denver in distance and figuratively the Ravens are miles away from the Broncos in talent. At any position, offense or defense, what Raven would crack Denver's starting 22? On defense, maybe B. Williams and that's it. On offense, Yanda and Osemele. Flacco at QB, probably. This demonstrates a huge talent gap between the two teams. Also, Baltimore's aggregate record over the past 3 years is below .500. Simply put, the Ravens are a below average team with minimal talent while Denver are SB champs oozing with talent. That gap is drastic. It will be years before the talent gap is narrowed, but it will be interesting to watch the Ravens hopefully develop again into bonafide SB contenders.

Time to reload. The Ravens accomplished much despite a lousy record. They proved down the stretch they were competitive without the big name talent so when we have some (and healthy) they should be back to their winning ways. All teams have their ups and down. This was our down year and they'll have some ammo with the highest draft pick since Jamal Lewis in 2000. The Broncos had an edge in talent on D, though. When you lose Peyton Manniing and need Brock Osweiler to carry your team for a spell AND still make the Super Bowl you have good talent and great coaching. I'm very happy for Kubiak.

Delusional at best. Stop drinking the kool aid. We do not have anyone like Von Miller on our team at present. Von was picked #2 overall in his draft behind Cam Newton. Do we even have a player drafted in the top 10 on our team? Our pass rushers are over 30 and one missed the entire season after the first game. The only #1 pick we have that has played to that status is CJ Mosley and even he had a sophomore slump. Elam was bust, Perriman out all year. Will believe it when I see it.

I don't know what your last sentence means. But there are a few locks in this draft: Miles Jack, Jaylon Smith, Leremy Tunsil, and Joey Bosa. This class reminds me of 2011 where there were a ton of pro bowlers.

I hope one of these pro-bowlers are the #6th pick?
