Claiborne in Balt?

29 posts in this topic

So I'm quite new to the NFL, Football being nothing in my country, and I was reading this article saying Claiborne could be a target for us in free agency. I never got to watch him play, and from what they were saying he just wasn't in the good environment to succeed, and he could develop as a raven.

Again, not knowing him very much, I'll ask your thoughts on him.

Highly touted, coming out of college, I believe Claiborne has just been in a bad system and environment in Dallas and agree that Baltimore could be a good fit for him.  Considering his injuries, I'd only consider him if he came cheap.

That's for sure, but if we could snatch a former top 10 pick for a low price, I'd be all in to take the risk.

If we can get him relatively cheap, I am all in

we have leslie frasier in house so if we do get him , there was something.

Why does everyone say Dallas is a bad situation? I mean that guy Scandrick played pretty well for them. They have talent.

I wouldn't mind him but he's not someone I'd depend on solving our issues. He probably goes to LSU West with his brothers (Mathieu, Peterson) lol

We'll be Florida North if we draft VH3.

really don't know to much about him,

health and intelligence  seems to be the focal point , based off friend and relative who are cowboys fans,

Coming to the Ravens does not sound like the greatest possible option for injury troubled corner. What's the worst that can happen?

I wouldn't be mad about getting Claiborne on a cheap deal. He has the talent, but he never lived up to his potential. He obviously wouldn't start, and he'd be decent coming off the bench or focusing on the slot

He was one of my favorites in his class, when Dallas drafted him I thought "great pick, he could be a stud"

Unfortunately injuries led to a lack of game reps which in turn led to lack of confidence and bla bla. Still think he could be a very good cb if he can stay healthy. Would like to have him here as long as it doesn't cost a fat deal and we have a healthier option as a starter and use him as the 3rd

Apparently the scheme in Baltimore would use him to his advantage, and he wouldn't have the pressure of "top 10 pick stuff" (though I don't believe in that kind of argument) according to the Ravens site

I think Carson Palmer did a nice job of killing any hype for FAs to go to Arizona.

I'd be open to it on a very cheap deal.  Assuming we re-sign Wright and then draft someone else, I'd be okay with Claiborne as a rotational guy at the back end of the depth chart.  He certainly hasn't been good in Dallas but he strikes me as a change of scenery guy.  It's more of a hunch than anything, but if the price is minimal, I don't see it hurting.

Davis was the best db on the team before the injury. However I am very weary of the rashaan Melvin effect for both of them lol

I couldn't watch the Pittsburgh game because it was scheduled at 3am here, but apparently he did perform well. However it was just one game if I'm not mistaken, quite small sample.

Melvin effect?

Yeah Melvin looked great until one game and then it was all downhill lol.

And if he only played 1 game then I must be crazy.. I could swear he played nearly half a season lol

I know those injuries scare me and this team just has bad luck with injuries to our secondary. Maybe the switch to grass at M&T will help.

Then yep, you're crazy lol. Davis played 1 full game with us and a portion of the 1st Q of another before getting hurt. Not much of a sample size there.

Wow. I am going crazy because that just feels wrong even after its been proven... This could further prove my point of the Melvin effect though lol

I've seen enough inept CB play in Baltimore over the years to pass on Claiborne. While he's not a premiere FA by any stretch he's also not a cheap pick up, for a cap strapped team I think there's so many more bang for your buck players available. Teams with a lot of cap can throw him a middle-of-the-road contract, we could as well but our money is so much tighter that it's just not good business.

Davis looked better during his play time, though there is the chance he doesn't reproduce that quality. If he can't, then switch the two.
