Why is everyone assuming guard is NOT a need?

Our o-line is one our weakest units. We need major help in the trenches. Our running backs will suffer this year as a result.

Sadly agree. I'm conflicted on Monroe since I don't like him at all anymore. He's more focused on other things and just doesn't play like a Raven. Been a major bust and I rather see him gone. Just wish there was a better option at this point.

Zuttah is meh. Urshel/Jenson could be nice at guard but still a massive downgrade from K.O.

Wagner can be a great RT but moving him to left intrigues me. We will only be able to find out how he looks once TC comes around. I figured they would give him a look, hopefully he can be the answer. Then the question would be RT and I would hate it if we're forced to move Yanda there. Hurst could take the next step but that's taking a big leap of faith.

Shaky o-line doesn't give me much confidence. Hoping we land at least 1 starter in the draft. DB, WR and o line is our weakest units, IMO.

I agree, the OL seems pretty lean, we need some depth if Joe is going to have some time and the need to open some holes for the running game! Let's hope we can pick up some lineman in the draft that can contribute this year!

There are still some good veteran guards on the market and the longer they sit there the more affordable they become.

Vasquez, Jahri Evans and I think Mitchell Schwartz are all available.

Evans is the best of the bunch but is likely holding out for the most money.

Vasquez has versatility having played both tackle and guard. If were just looking to add depth I think he's the best option.

If we're looking for a probable starter bc we don't think Urschel or Jensen are ready to start at LG than I like Jahri Evans. Plus I have a soft spot for him since we went to Bloomsburg together and got to party with him quite a bit.

Jensen was ready last year.  Urschel was as well.  I don't see a drop off from either guy from the finish of last season.  Both went into the off season healthy.  Both seem to have a very good work ethic.  I think Urschel will battle for and maybe win the starting Center job.  I think the LG is Jensen's job to keep/lose.

I would imagine we pick up another G in the draft with a compensatory.  Seems to be a trend.  The Myers deal didn't pan out last year, so another developmental Guard is going to be necessary.  Jensen is in the last year of his ERFA.  If he has a great year, (assuming he is the starter), he could be headed for his payday.  It will be interesting to see if they like him enough to lock him down.

Urschel has come into his own at Center.  I don't see him as the nasty LG that Jensen is.  He's got skills, but I don't think he flashes as aggressive and athletic as Jensen.  I think that is what we really need next to Monroe or ? at LT.  Man vs. Man.........may the best man win!

The draft is deep with oline talent. I expect at least one addition.

Judging by some reading between the lines of Harb's combine comments, the Ravens sat down with Taylor Decker and Jack Conklin and presumably the top draft tackles. He said something along the lines of a Mich St and OSU lineman that his brother would be happy to see go. So I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a top tackle go to us - whether we stay at 6 and get lucky with Tunsil or take Stanley - or trade down to nab Conklin or Decker... maybe they even fall to us at the top of the 2nd?

From there, we would probably still draft another depth guard and/or tackle. Maybe a swing player.

There are some really good interior options in the 2nd round. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this but center is a need as well, we could use an upgrade.

Unless your name is Tunsil or Stanley, I don't see you coming into B-more and starting, son.

I would be thrilled if we got Conklin. I think he'll be one of the best OL in this class.

Why do you say that? I haven't assumed that guard isn't a need. In fact I think the majority of forum members understand that guard is a need especially with K.O gone.

You know I'm starting to feel Conklin coukd go over Stanley. To the Ravens hard to say.

No idea who I want the ravens to take in the first, but I think whitehair from Kansas state in the 2nd could be a good move.  I also wouldn't hate picking up turek (sp) the center from USC if he's there in the 4th

Personally, I think the FO sees Urschel as the starting center in 2017.  I would be surprised and shocked if Zuttah was still here next season.

Ozzie and Co. have a tremendous draft history of finding guards. From Mulitalo, to Grubbs to Yanda and Osemele ... I have confidence in us finding one this year, so no I don't see it as too much of a need.

I expect good OL to be available at our second round pick. I don't think we trade out of 6 unless no qb get picked before us. Otherwise a premeir defensive guy will be ours at 6 whether bosa, buckner, ramsey.
