[News] Elite Pass Rusher Noah Spence Could Fall To Round 2

18 posts in this topic

Spence looked like the best player on the field at the Senior Bowl. Whichever team drafts him will say the old "we did our background check and we are confident he is a changed man, etc." and he'll go about where he should for his talent, which is somewhere in the middle of the 1st, if not higher with a good combine. I honestly wouldn't question the pick at #6 if his stock keeps rising.

ramsey in the 1st and trade up into the bottom of the 1st to grab one of these pass rushers

We have the fewest picks in a long while. Trading up will be even less likely than before. Not out of question, of course, but i would say not too likely.
Also, if we can get Ramsey @ #6, it's gonna be a coup. I seriously hope you'll end up being right about this ;)

we might trade down to get Spence and a few more draft picks if we feel no one we want is available or is equal to a 6th pick or if we can get the guys we want later on.

our 6th and 7th rd picks never pan out and our 5th rd picks rarely do as well. we do not have a 5th this year but may have (4) 4th rd picks if we are awarded 2 comp picks. i would try and pkg the 6th and 7th rd picks to move up in the any rd. for a chance to grab a higher rated player. plus the less players we draft the less $$ we have to pay to the rookies leaving us more money to sign cap casualties or training camp cuts.

I love this kid, explosive like Sizz off the line in college, can he be an all around defender remains to be seen but he definitely is the best pure pass rusher in an otherwise thin edge rushing class

Rookie salary cap is different from the team salary cap. It won't save any money. Scroll down to the last question here.....

Didn't we get a 4th and a 5th for Haloti

He'll be gone way before we get up to our pick in the 2nd. Unfortunate but we don't have a chance unless we trade back into the late teens and nab him there. Hopefully doing that will give us their 2nd and 3rd round picks this year and a 2nd round pick next year. Probably a team like the Jets will trade up to get a QB. Who knows?

My thoughts exactly. If Ozzie nabs Ramsey or Hargreaves at 6 he can move back in and grab this guy. Oddly enough, in previous drafts when Ozzie has had an early pick, he likes to trade back up and grab that guy that is slipping and sometimes winning and sometimes losing. He did it with Ogden/Lewis (grabbed Ogden at 4 moved back in and got Lewis at 26), drafted J Lewis at 4 moved back in got Travis Taylor at 10, Suggs at 10, Boller at 19 and Flacco at 18 but they traded their second away to move up and get Flacco but traded back into the late second to grab Rice. So history shows, Ozzie is not afraid to move up in the first or second after grabbing a top notch player early in the draft. Lets hope his second pick this year is as good as his second pick in 96.

The guy is trending up, and quickly at that. If he has matured to accompany his skill set and physical traits, then he is undeniably a top 15 pick. Please allow the Ravens to draft two beasts on Defense in Rd 1 and 2, preferably with this animal of a pass rusher being one of them. His tape is great and while I wouldn't mind Leonard Floyd, I think Spence's frame is ready for the AFC North while Floyd might need some time.

Great examples! I didn't think of that! I am on the Ramsey, HG3, and Alexander express right now, with the hopes of getting Spence or Floyd later in the Rd or in the second.

I am sternly sticking by the idea that if Ramsey, Tunsil and Bosa are gone, we will trade back and hopefully get a 2nd or 3rd rounder for doing so--maybe even bundling those picks to move up. In Rd 1 and 2, if we get any combo of Bosa, Tunsil, Ramsey, Buckner Alexander, HG3, Spence, Floyd, Dodd, Apple, Fuller, Smith or Jack, I would be ecstatic

Bosa in the first and Spence in the second? Dare to dream. I would love to see that.

Spence is not falling to the 2nd round.  His Sr. Bowl performance alone made him a 1st rounder.

I hear you there, I'm starting to wonder if trading down would even be a viable option to get him if he impresses at the combine
