[News] Wide Receiver Braxton Miller An Intriguing Playmaker

17 posts in this topic

I like his versatility. Boom or bust project. I'd take him in the fourth with a late pick. I see the 49er's taking him in the second unless his stock rises during the combine. His 40 will help evaluators make a consensus as to what he offers. The 49er's will be in the hunt for such a prospect with Chip being in need of a stop gap for Kapernick. If Kap fails during camp they will at least have a fall back plan. Hopefully he rises and allows others to fall. The Boyd's of the draft now have a legit concern as to where they are slotted. I'd even like him here but not before acquiring at least one safe bet. He could back up Mallet in the event he implodes or regresses. We have weaknesses but some will be addressed during free agency. I don't think it needs to flashy but rather need based which would allow us to acquire BPA with upgrades in the grand scheme of things. There will be numerous candidates available and won't cost an arm and leg. The most exciting news for us will be hearing about the progression in talks between Flacco's agent and the organization heading into free agency. I sure hope they are quietly working the salaries and cap behind the scenes. We can't afford to be bumped out of the free agency period due to a lingering or stalemated process. I'm sure Joe knows this and is in Linta's ear. Not saying he should cave but he should be willing to take a front loaded (signing bonus collected in 2017) deal that would allow the organization to offset the cost a little more evenly. Money in the bank should provide more comfort then more promised. Either way he would be secure. I'm looking for the run on premium wr's to begin much earlier the most mocks project. Every team seems to be in need of at least one. We'll all know based on free agency which is fast approaching.

he could be a steal but we cannot afford to take that chance unless he falls to the 4th which will not happen. pass rush(doom and suggs in their 30's)with suggs on the downside of his career. ilb (daryl smith in his 30's and no longer a 3 down player) are the areas of concern. if we can get ramsey that should be a boost to the secondary along with leslie frazier fixing some of these guys techniques the secondary should be better. offensively we do need a receiver but i would rather trade for one or sign a free agent at this point in time. i strongly believe we will resign osemele somehow someway which would allow the fo to work on the defense early in the draft

Don't think we would take a chance on him in the second but maybe in the 3rd round. Would be a nice add. You can learn how to run routes but you can't learn to be a playmaker... you have it or you don't. That's why I would love to get him, but we will see

The team that ends up drafting Braxton Miller will be a team that is not depending on him right away to fill a roster position. Certainly exciting but really not enough of a body of work to draw from even with a good Senior Bowl and Combine. Many players that have the played the position are not able to make the adjustment at the NFL level. I wish him the best but I highly doubt to see him in a Raven's uni unless he somehow drops to the later rounds.

Really, we don't need a Qb turned Wr. Developement is to timely. You don't draft a guy that high, to be a "what if" playmaker. Settle on a can't miss guy, who has over 50 catches in a season and has been a receiver since Pop Warner.

The more I see of Sterling Shepard, the more polished and NFL ready he looks. Braxton lacks that. Sure, he shows potential, but he still has lot to learn. We have a bunch of questionmarks in our WR corps already. Will BP work out for us? Does SSS have another full season in him? Can Aiken have another good season? Will the other guys ever be healthy?
I think we need a WR, who contributes now and not some time later.

I gave you a thumbs up, however I wouldn't dismiss him or his abilities quite yet. I think he has a very good to great upside. If nothing else with his speed and savvy he could contribute greatly. He is a typical hybrid with a unique skill set. i don't know currently about the injury that sacked him from the qb position but he in my opinion would be serviceable given the thinned positioned currently on this roster. Schaub is gone. Clausen seems viable but not a lock at this point to be retained. I'd take another look at him going forward just for due diligence. Other prospects that weren't given much hope have panned out enormously. I believe hybrids are the wave of the future. BM represents just that. The drills in the combine will tell all. The foot speed, savvy cuts, route running, hand/eye coordination and football IQ ail be crucial in his evals. I wouldn't consider him a waste of a pick if we took him in the third. That move would probably be facilitated via a trade back in the first round which leads to another 2/ 3rd round pick.

Maybe in the third round, but no earlier. Transitioning positions is not easy though there are plenty of players in the league who have done it. But WR in the first would be Treadwell, and in the second round there are 6-7 receivers I'd take over him, especially as high as we're picking. I expect no more than 3 receivers to be taken by the time we're on the board in the second round.

He actually didn't look that good in the game with a bad drop and a wrong route, but he is definitely exciting with the ball in his hands. Definitely a project, but one that could pay off if he becomes reliable with his hands and routes. Plus you can tell he has some quickness in and out of breaks

If we were to draft a receiver early, I'd rather it not be Miller. Why not nab one with prestine route running, instead of a project.

He seems like a great kid with loads of talent, but we don't have a tremendous track record with developing elite WR talent, so very apprehensive about taking a raw prospect. BTW let's see how we help Perriman develop first.

Not necessarily the same hype or type of player, but I remember how everyone in the NFL was gushing over Tavon Austin when he came out three years ago.  Again, Miller is a bigger, stronger guy, but Austin had much more from an experience perspective, and he was being talked about much more.  So far he's really struggled - a lot has to do with the QB situation, but it just seems to me that a lot of these guys who don't fit into a traditional role and are looked at as more of a swiss army knife kind of player (the term "weapon" gets way overused for guys who I just think don't have any defined role at that point in their careers) end up struggling a lot at the NFL level.
