[News] Late For work 2/2: Is Courtney Upshaw The Odd Man Out In Free Agency?

44 posts in this topic

This article just reminds me how out of reach Super Bowl was this year. Upshaw has proven that he isn't able to develop into a pass rusher. As an edge guy, that makes him a 1 down player in this league. We should replace him through the draft with more speed.

On Cam Newton's fashion statement, YUCK!!! If he wanted black and gold and his wardrobe was slim in that color, as he stated, he should have expanded his wardrobe. He certainly could have afforded it. On Upshaw, I think we'll re-sign him in the, unfortunately, likely event that we cannot afford what KO will cost. If we Can find a way to re-sign KO, well then I think we might not be able to get them both. But, I agree that he won't attract Big money and Big interest. Even Tucker, I think is more important than Upshaw, but we'll tag Tuck if we can't sign him long term. My guess for what's most likely is we get Tuck and Upshaw, but I'd rather have KO and Tuck if we can't have all three.

Clearly my opinion, but I believe Courtney U is a solid player and it would be tough to lose him, I also think his best years are in front of him...... The problems on defense this year did not fall on any one player, but as a whole. They started getting it together at unfortunately the end of the season, so with some experience for the younger players, getting Terrell back, hopefully some of the younger guys will play much better singularly, and as a team.

I'd be surprised if we don't retain Upshaw, much like JJ an unsung guy playing an important role. If we keep him for a fair price, it keeps Doom fresh and ready to get to the QB. This would also all Z Smith to play the McPhee role.

Upshaw isn't flashy. Scouts and GM's notice things that we fans sometimes don't. I wouldn't hold my breath with regard to him.

I could do a drunken mock and still have Tunsil before 11 and Stanley going higher than 25. That mock was... different lol

That mock draft looked good for about 5 picks then simply crumbled. Tunsil will not fall to 11,scooby wright in the first is a reach, Calhoun is too high and unless Ogbah blows up at the combine, there is a slim chance he goes # 6 to us

Guess, I'm just one of the people that say's "If it ain't broke....don't fix it"  Don't like thing's to change too much! P.S Even the emoticons are boring!!<_<

That PFF draft is exceedingly confusing for one reason. The player mocked to us most (Ronnie Stanley) actually goes to the Steelers at #25. Am I missing something or are most of these mocks just like totally meaningless and arbitrary giving any team whoever they want?

Remember what happened to ESPN when they switched to facebook postings? Ghost town as well! Eventually these silly measures that really doesn't improve participant experience are counter productive, but keep IT staff paid and fed I suppose.

Seems like it is easier to figure out my taxes then to make and follow a comment on this forum..... hope they figure out the glitchy stuff

BTW, I wish Upshaw stays with us. He is one of the important spokes in our D. In that regard I wish that he never gets a big contract in free agency. Selfish? Yes but only for the Ravens.

I am big on fashion... but am I really that old??? Or did I get kicked off the fashion bus when I turned 34?? When did it become the in thing to wear women pants??? I am sorry but men in capri pants have only been cool when sailing... lol... and guys who wore it just to wear them got their lunch taken... lol... I am all for self expression but I will pass on this trend... I am sorry but close fitting pants (tight) are very feminine to me.. just my opinion of course... Luv Cam...think he's the next best thing since Moon... but no to those pants...

That is just plain ridiculous. While Tunsil is steadily moving towards the top spot in most mocks, this guy puts him at #11...

I can only thumbs up/down in the forum section. In the main article I cannot even see a up/down option.

I just cannot see Upshaw going anywhere else? I don't see him commanding top dollar in the open market and I just feel he is more important here then just about anywhere that he could possibly go! Courtney is somewhat one dimensional and while that works in BMROE... anyone else who pays more -will also ask more out of him... Here he is allowed to specialize and contribute in a big way but in a way that still matches his skillset!

Upshaw just isn't skilled enough in coverage to be anything other than a run-down LB (he's really more of a big end). I have this gut feeling they let Upshaw walk and draft Reggie Ragland in the 2nd, history repeating itself with a high 2nd round Bama RB who is better vs the run. (although Ragland isn't useless in coverage)

If Upshaw walks and Suggs retires after next season we will be ran all over. Sure we have solid guys against the run in the middle but those guys are two of the best in the game at setting the edges. We need pass rushers fast and we need to try to resign our guys.

When I read this story it immediately reminded me of JJ as well. If Pees and them find Upshaw's abilities as useful, him not having a good season may allow us to keep him for a good price. Also, for all we know in the next few years Upshaw could live up to the potential that caused us to draft him. Either way, as you said, keeping him for a fair price can't hurt.

Upshaw wont be back. He will join the list of ex Ravens not good enough to remain on the team.Guys like the Broncos starting safety,Michael Oher, Ed Dickson, not good enough for the Ravens but good enough to possibly get a Super Bow ring.

Don't feel like going to the forum for that.
