What was the plan about the option of signing in your account from the landing page?

That's how the top of the front page looks like to me now (sorry for the larger image, I wanted it to be clearly legible):

As you can see, there's no login box at the top right corner, where it used to be - and as far as I can see, nowhere else on the br.com landing page. I chanced upon a login box finally, totally by chance.  As you can see, there's no way to know by looking at the landing page (and I guess that's where people typically "land" when we visit this website) whether I'm logged in or not. I don't know whether this is intentional or a bug (that's why I'm not putting this in the bug report thread) - but if it's intended, I don't think it was a good decision...

Also, I can no longer see the comments under the articles in the "normal view", only in the forums. Not only mine - none. Once again, I don't know whether it's intentional or a bug (though I hope it's a bug because, frankly, I don't see the point in banishing the comments).

Last, but not least: has this change of layout been "announced"? As I remember, major facelifts and redesigns would usuallybe announced in separate articles, on the main page in the past, so we could know what was happeening. Now, all I knew was that the comments suddenly disappeared from the normal view, and so did the login box - no explanation of what's happened.

 

Frankly, I don't really care about the new design and I don't mind "losing" the old one; I'm certainly not upset about the fact of the new layout, itself... but it would have sure been nice to get informed about it without having to delve deep into the forums...

I finally saw a few comments posted. When I posted 2 comments in LFW, they were  no longer there when I went back to article. Really don't like that I can't "Like" a comment as well. I see the up and down arrows in the forums section but nothing in the home page article comments if I agree with a poster.

This layout is awful. And so is the new Yahoo home page for those who use yahoo as their home page check it out. I like our form go back to the popluar look at layout like it was on monday

Go to your profile and your settings...  and even under Notifications, you can access the settings...  and change them so they don't come up in your email.

Click on Forums first.  Then you'll see that

The comments in the blogs just started yesterday and this morning.  They are still working on some bugs, yes.  Also, when you log into a thread, it may take you back to where you last read it, or the last post depending on what part of the title you click on.

Also, a notification was sent out a few days ahead of time, but so many folks were involved in the storm and other activities, they may have missed it.  I did too... 

Hang in there...  we'll all get used to it.

Already did that. The problem is messenger settings are locked to on for email notifications.

My other complaint would be with navigation. Unless I'm missing the button (thought it might have been the centered ravens logo on mobile) getting back to the boards main page from here requires me to hit back to this forum, back to the subset of forums, and then to the main page. The old way where the center link took you back to the main page was quicker to navigate and more user friendly.

 

The overall design is much cleaner and more modern. I like it more than the old style, there are just these relatively minor annoyances.

One thing I noticed is that when you get quoted, it no longer gives you the option in notification center to go to your post or the other person's post, it just takes you to the other person's post. I don't know about everyone else, but I'd always click back to my post so I wouldn't skip ahead in the thread.

This right here. That ravens logo needs to take you to the forums home page.

 

Not having that is even worse than not being able to jump ahead in pages on the last mobile skin.

 

My only main criticism.

Thirded. I've said it a couple of times already, but that should be a simple fix that'd make the forums a whole lot easier to navigate on mobile.

I still can't hit a "like" comment button for comments I think make a good point or agree with. Please bring the up and down arrow feature back on articles. There are arrows in the in the forums section but not in any article I have read since the new changes to the website.
