[News] Consistency Key For Defensive Lineman Carl Davis

24 posts in this topic

Davis should be concerned with his physical strength since it was boss(owner) said the top priority in the draft should be a pass rusher.(hopefully a D Lineman and not a so called hybrid) That doesn't seem to bode well for some on the D.

Oz was referring to an OLB to replace (learn from) the aging/injured Suggs/Dumervill in the coming years.

Definitely can see us drafting Olb or cb first two rounds with our DL of williams, Jernigan, guy, urban, lewis, and kapron-lewis

and Davis

I seem to remember how disappointed Davis was that he was drafted that late. I also remember how happy the Ravens were to get him that late, that he was "still available". I guess time will tell just how much he wants it. C'mon Carl, prove them all wrong! Best of luck to you and I hope you do just that in the coming seasons.

Players like Davis is the reason why I say the Ravens can be successful in rushing four no more than five, the fifth man has to seek the RB or QB and spread the remainder and with personnel on this squad that can read and react very well making life easier in the secondary! Williams, Jernigan, Urban, I forgot Notre Dames name and Davis sounds good to me!

So you think those guys are good for us moving forward? Lol. Do you want this team to get better than we were this season or stay the same. Because correct me if I'm wrong, but all it took was for Suggs to go down then our defense was doomed. QB's throwing Hall of Fame number on us. We damn near gave Josh McCown a first round ballot to the Hall of Fame. And yea you can definitely blame our poor secondary (especially our safeties smh), but more importantly...we COULD NOT GET ANY PRESSURE. B.Williams is good one second, then the next he is getting stood straight up. For his body type, I don't think he's that good on all downs.

We definitely need more athletic D-linemen down there. I hope we go 1st round somewhere on the D-line.

I wish there was a way Steve Smith could somehow freeze/end his contract with us and immediately sign with the Panthers, just to have that shot at a Ring.

I like our D-Line, Guy IMO went under the radar all season, he was consistent, and played at a high level....When our DC doesn't trust the secondary, and doesn't blitz more out of a 3-4 D it makes it tough on them to put pressure on the QB....And like i said when the season was lost, the youngsters are getting so much valuable real game time experience and they will all benefit from it....

The Conqueror Worm.....Was referring to the owner's wish to have a pass rusher taken high in the draft. It wasn't Oz who said that and the inference was it be a D Lineman who can actually push an O lineman back into the pocket.

For all the people complaining on the lack of production from young players, keep in mind what many are asking for is the equivalent to any of you beginning a new job you've been prepped for yet have much to learn. More than you can image before starting even. Add in the fact you are then expected to match the same level of work as others who have multiple years of experience and developed talent at this job. How realistic is it that everyone hits the mark? Lighten up, failures build strength and character. If you don't allow people time and space to succeed then their failure is really your failure being passed along. If you don't see real effort from a player, then by all means there is a real issue to talk about. The fact was there was real effort and growth (the result of all the effort). Any player who shows growth will indeed become stronger/faster/better/etc. Ravens young D-players will turn some heads moving forward.

Unless they pack on leg & foot muscle as well. #GRINDHARD

foot muscle?  Those foot curls can be murder.  I was primarily talking about knee problems and the tendons in the feet.  Extra weight is extra stress and it takes the legs and feet a lot longer to get used to it than it does to build the muscles.

Well it is time all these rookies and 2nd year players blossomed. We finished the season 5-11. We can't have that ever again. So, it is critical these kids don't waste time during the off season but spend time in the gym strenghening their bodies and improving their craft.

I am really excited for the future of our Defensive Line. If we draft Deforest Buckner with our first pick we could have the best Defensive Line in the NFL. Buckner, Davis, Williams, Jernigan and Smith is a great rotation that will cause problems all game long.

If another player pulls a Matt Elam and gets a Foot Locker "job" this offseason I'm flying out to Baltimore and kicking him in the nuts :)

Lets not forget the play of Guy, he stood out more than the others as he was consistent for all 16 games......
