[News] Safety Terrence Brooks Entering Offseason With Chip On His Shoulder

15 posts in this topic

Our draft picks especially safeties in the past 3 yrs Elam and Brooks came in with a lot of fanfare, but haven't played up to expectations if at all. Hopefully, this new season in 2016 will have both of them playing at a high level thereby improving our secondary big time. If Elam, Will Hill and Brooks all play really well, and with the fact that Webb is now going to be another safety, these 4 can make our secondary not just good but really good. That would allow us to focus the draft on a pure CB or pass rusher at #6.

I think getting a new DB coach will make a big difference. Brooks is probably the fastest of the safetys, now if he can couple that with knowledge and instincts, he will be in a great position to play next to Will Hill.

IMO he would have to have a great camp or an injury to Webb before playing full time next to Will Hill.

Honestly with his speed i would like to see him get reps at CB versus Safety.....I know he played in nickle situations, because we had no choice, but would like to see him get more reps there in camp....

I still believe the Ravens should move Will Hill to MLB ala Deone Bucannon or Mark Barron. Covering the TE and the the short middle of the field is playing to his strengths - covering the slot or the deep third is not. Webby/Brooks as the FS & Elam/Draft pick(Jayron Kearse Rnd 3-4) at the SS.

Nickel and Dime packages need to be standard for Raven defense going forward. It's a pass-happy league, time to combat speed with more speed.

Nickel & Dime packages are standard for every team in the league. With the Ravens typical 3-4 Under scheme, it's hard to go to nickel or dime (unless it's an obvious passing down) because you basically have 1 LB to try and stop the run. The Broncos showed exactly what a 3-4 Under defense can do (without going nickel or dime) especially with a player like Von Miller - who not only is an outstanding pass rusher but also a great cover OLB. The Ravens had one of the best with Suggs, but age is catching up to him and he's really not that effective in pass coverage anymore. To me, that's the single most important piece the Ravens are missing (and judging by Oz's statements, the FO knows it too)

The fact that he was unable to outperform Lewis is kind of concerning. He has the physical tools but to gain the trust of the coaches mostly means that you need to get better at the mental part of the game. Better watch some film kid...

defense must get faster at the lb/hybrid position. suggs is old, doom is getting up there as well and daryl smith is no longer a 3 down player. wish we knew what the real truth is on arthur brown. all i can think of is that he has not performed in practice

Injuries aside, there seems to be a major disconnect between Ozzie and Pees in terms of talent selection and fit for scheme/coaching for technique. Either the talent isn't up to snuff, or the scheme is flawed and/or the coaching is suspect.
