[News] Late For Work 1/25: Terrell Suggs Wins Twitter With Reaction To Patriots Loss

49 posts in this topic

Don't think that Von Miller is in our future but I do think that there are some other quality pass rushers out there who we could bring in to help us. I also think that the further development of some of our guys can help out (Urban, KLM, Timmy, Upshaw, Carl Davis, Z Smith, and Brandon Williams) can all add to that presence... if they continue to improve but none are pure pass rushers. (except maybe ZSMITH)... adding another true pass rusher to the mix would be a great think for this defense!

Agreed, even if we restructured Flacco's deal to benefit us it wouldn't happen but as you said... we already have some young talent. We just need a healthy Suggs, another pass rusher, and our guys to develop after another year in the league

Man the old mantra holds true, Defense Wins Championships! ferocious pass rushers, quick and athletic line backers, and play making cover corners will stifle any offense in the league. Bring back organized Chaos. I miss the days when we knew our D would hold us in the game until the end and all we pray for was one or two big plays on offense or special teams.

I wish there was a Von Miller like talent in this draft because he is a game changing talent that I would be willing to pay big money to get if ever possible. But he will easily seek $100 million after Houston's deal. We should just get a nasty trio of corners like Denver then. Jimmy is great, we need 1-2 more studs and we will be looking pretty fierce.

We also need to stop striking out on safety picks.. It stinks for us that this year's draft isn't that deep.

All of our safety picks were considered good ones by draftniks. So, it's not like Ozzie picked risky players who then didn't performed well - he picked promising and acknowledged rookies who then haven't (yet) panned out.

Maybe it's not the talent evaluation and pick selection - maybe it's the coaching of the safeties in Baltimore? We never had an especially well performing safety with the exception of Ed Reed the past 6-8 yeasons, and quite a few who never really worked out. Ihedigbo and Pollard were good - but we also had Nakamura, Zbikowski, Huff, Elam, Brooks, Kendrick Lewis, Trawick, Levine, Miles... seems like the safeties cannot perform in Baltimore for some reason... the most obvious explanation would be that they aren't coached well enouh - but that's pure speculation.

Congrats to Kubiak, but truth be told....Wade deserves the credit for making the Broncs D tops in the league, and we all know Manning really doesn't have the dominance to win games on his own anymore.....JMO....

I guess not being able to deflate the football really botched up the Pats game plan.

Didn't seem to bother them against the Chiefs or any of the other teams they handled this season...

I do applaud them for largely sticking it to the public all season long who thinks deflated footballs has a gigantic impact on professional football.

Just being sarcastic but even you should realize  through out the years they have pulled some very questionable tactics to win. Chiefs just could not get to Brady and that's why the Patriots won. The key to beating Brady is hitting him and letting him feel your presence all game long then he quickly becomes a horrible QB maybe even the worst in the  NFL but if you don't put any pressure on him he is extremely good. Every time we won the Patriots we hit Brady and pushed him around constantly and he flat out sucks when that happens to him he just throws the ball up for grabs. However like I sarcastically stated "I guess not being able to deflate the football really botched up the Pats game plan." LOL

Karma is real. You can do and say whatever you want to justify words/actions. In the end you always get what you deserve.

So the Pats deserved an AFC Championship appearance and the Ravens/Colts, the two "leaders" of the deflategate witch hunt, deserved a horrible season.

That's what Karma gets you (if you buy into Karma that is).

I mean I'd consider them questionable if I actually put a ton of weight into their overall impact on the game, which I generally don't.

The key to beating the Patriots, in general, is to a have a great, well-balanced defense. You can pass rush well against him all day long and he'll still tear you apart. The secondary of Denver was arguably as big of a key to the game as anything.

That's because the pass rush was getting to him.

I have never seen him play well when the pass rush is hitting him what game were you thinking of?

Pretty much most of the games where he plays the Jets and still beats them.

Might have had something to do with the pass rush, yes. But then again, 2/3 of the time, Brady wasn't hit when he dropped back to throw, and I saw very little if any yards after the catch and constant heavily contested throws, which is largely up to the secondary.

Put it another way, if he played a team with the exact same pass rush and a far weaker secondary, such as the 2014 Ravens team, do you think they still get held to 18 point? I'd say they hang up closer to 25-30.

That's not really true. He had lots of guys open yesterday that he couldn't get the ball to because he was hesitating on his throws after getting hit too many times. It was exactly how we beat him in 2012, and that secondary wasn't exactly all-world, but that defense held them scoreless over the entire second half because guys like Suggs, Arthur Jones, McPhee, Ngata, etc, were getting in his face and knocking him down all the time. The same was true in the 2012 Denver game, which without 2 special teams TDs by Trindon Holliday, would've been a blowout win due in part to a frustrated Peyton Manning.

The mistake people make is confusing natural pressure with blitzing. Lots of teams (like Rex Ryan's Jets and Bills teams) try to beat him with blitzing, but he just recognizes it and hits a hot receiver for 6-12 yards. That's why we couldn't ever beat him or Manning while Rex was our DC (and one reason I was fine with not making him our HC in 2007). Exotic blitz packages are great against mediocre and new quarterbacks, but Brady and Manning just take advantage of the empty middle of the field and make you pay.

Those teams had very good secondaries (Revis...) most of the time and a weak pass rush without blitzing, so that kind of undermines your point.

Dude, it cus those guys are old.  Cam is what? 26 y/o?  Never forget Cam doesn't make those QBs look old, its his defense who would make Cam look old too.

Negative, Cam Newton is the nucleus of that team. #THEHATINGMUSTSTOP #SUPAMANDAT!

Yes, I concur, it was a GREAT DAY!!!! I was cheering for Broncos as if the Ravens were playing. My hands were still a little "stingy" this morning from clapping so hard for so long after the Broncos won. I am now at peace since #12 was knocked around and finally knocked out of playoffs after deflategate debacle. I dreamt this day all year, just patiently waiting for #12's season to come crashing down. WHAT A GREAT DAY!!!! Amen!!!
