Theres just no point.  It costs too much money to do such a thing and NFL would most likely buy them out before they did anything.  Now, maybe if there was a way the NFL could do something like the NBA and MLB and have a minor league type, maybe like the NFL practice sqauds play actual games.  How many Arian Fosters could teams find then?

But nothing is going to come close to competing with the NFL.  XFL couldnt make it work and they had a lot of money in it.

NFL pays to much to compete with them. It is reason cfl team declined before the news of the ravens. Fans do not have any players to root for or against. Now a minor league team would do quite well. Especially in cities that have no baseball teams. Not just Arian Fosters but I would say mostly QBs Dbacks and receiver's would sprout up. The league would find Malcolm Butlers andand players like Joe Horns and Kurt Warners. Players who sharpened their skills in a minor league. Kenbrell Thompkins is a player that would greatly benefit from reps running routes, avoiding defensive players and snatching footballs. Same for Brian Quick and Campanaro. Very talented receivers that just need reps to zero in on their unique skillset!! There are many Dbacks that could shine up their ball skills as well.

It would for sure give us (the NFL) more of an organized base of finding talent.  I think turning the practice squad teams into a summer league is a good idea

This would be good for them. Cause if Ravens have another season like the past one the practice guys would have experience to play in the real NFL and it might not turned so bad after all.

I have to agree with you, usmccharles - a summer league featuring the practice players is, for my mindset - a wonderful idea.

Nah.

I like the break in the action.

Plus I don't feel like following two teams.

NFL needs a D league

They already have one. It's just known as the AFC South.

The NFL needs a true D league to address the lack of competitive parity, college is just a buffer for high school students to develop their bodies. Right now there are only about 10 maybe 15 quarterbacks that are good and there just aren't enough minutes to go around to see if any of the dozens of unheralded camp arms could develop into an NFL caliber QB, it makes me wonder how many Tom Bradys and Kurt Warners have slipped through the cracks because they didn't get a shot.

That's something I always wondered as well.  Brady is a phenomenal talent but I bet there is so many greats that never got their opportunity,  thanks a lot drew Bledsoe

There is rumored to be a spring league called Major League Football that has a two year TV deal with the American Sports Network, owned by Sinclair Broadcasting on most of their stations digital subchannel.  The league is supposed to have 8 teams in cities with no Major League Baseball or Football.  They're supposed to kick off in April and they had a territorial draft, but I don't think they'll kick off in time if at all.   Only cities I heard are Akron, OH and maybe Orlando. Seems to be more of a developmental league.  Just hope they have a salary cap, to keep the Donald Trump's of the world out.

This is the way to do it. 8 teams max with 4 NFL teams invested into each team. Maybe each division can have a team and make it territorial if they can get along that is lol. Some suggested sites could be like Birmingham Ala,Rochester NY,San Antonio Tx and Portland Ore plus the 2 you named. Akron could be for the AFCNorth.

One other rumor I heard is the league trademarked Arkansas Attack.  Akron was supposed be in the new USFL which never got off the ground as the "Akron Fire".  The MLFB team there would probably play at Infoscision Stadium, home of the University of Akron Zips.

If the NFL was running the league, use their rules and have year round referees, this league would be work during the spring for them and then work the National Football League gamed during the fall.  If they're not, don't expect any teams in California because of the high cost of Workers Comp Insurance there.

This MLFB league is facing financial trouble, proof that even if you have a TV deal that doesn't guarantee survival.  Same thing happens to the A11 football league, they were going to have two demonstration games between the Dallas Wranglers and the Tampa Bay Bandits on ESPN.  Never got off the ground to start with.

Sundays are BOR-RING! Without the NFL. This is why we need the USFL to return! Its Spring-Summer football it keeps the game going after the Super Bowl is over. Who wants to watch old movies and Doctor shows while waiting for Baseball to start the real season? Thats why we need the NEW USFL on CBS Pregame starts at noon- Kickoff 1PM and at 4:15 second game. Thats what sundays are meant to be!

If they revive it then they need a salary cap to keep owners like the one who owned the New Jersey franchise in the old one away.

No Cap nightman. So that way the new league players can leave the NFL for money. Remember Hershell Walker? He went to the USFL for money. and Remember the old AFL? Joe Namath was drafted by the Cardinals, But they were cheap. So he went to the NY Jets for money.
