allblackraven's pre combine mock

Probably still too early but nothing better to do.

My pick would be A'Shawn Robinson but I think Cowboys will select him. So, here we go:

1] Reggie Ragland, LB, Alabama
2] Derick Henry, RB, Alabama
3] Ryan Kelly, C, Alabama
4] Cyrus Jones, CB, Alabama
4] DJ Pettway, DE/OLB, Alabama
6] Jake Coker, QB, Alabama

Just kidding. Maybe.

Real mock:

1] Noah Spence, OLB, Eastern Kentucky

Pass rusher is our biggest need and Spence is the best in this class. Might seem too early at #6 but that's the only time in the draft we would have shot at him. His drug history is an issue but year removed from the incident he seems to be 100% on the right track.

2] Kendall Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech

My second favourite CB this year, behind Eli Apple. Baller, playmaker and very good bloodline. I think he might be pretty good FS for us, too.

3] Denver Kirkland, OL, Arkansas

Played at LG most of his college career then moved to LT his senior year. Huge man but pretty nimble feet. Has great potential, I think.

4] Leonte Carroo, WR, Rutgers

Off the field stuff might drop him here but this dude is very good. Gets open everywhere on the field, has great hands and I noticed tendency to get both feet down on the catch. He has the invite for Senior Bowl, I'll watch with interest.

4] Trevon Stewart, S, Houston

About the size of Tyrann Mathieu and played similar role at Houston. Very quick, can blitz, really good tackler but making plays on the ball, too.

6] DJ Pettway, DE/OLB, Alabama

Won me over in this year's championship game, making plays all over. Got another chance by Saban after serious off the field stuff and took every advantage of it. If he can replace Courtney Upshaw in a year or two, Ravens win here.

Will probably do another one after FA but I think I'd be OK if it ended up like this.

Lol ROLL TIDE!!!!! Seams a bit high on spence, never heard him being a top 10 pick. Didnt know he was that good. Anyone got any good tape or article on this kid i know he was highly recruited by ohio state but left, did he ever prove anything in college?

he's a better pass rusher than bosa and a more natural 3-4 olb with a redemption story. I had him to us in the 3rd but folks seem to think he goes up the boards and after looking into it I see no reason to disagree. The kid could be special and definitely a top 10 talent with a troubled history

I like Spence but the season we saw from Doom and Upshaw showcase how important it is to have a pass rusher like Suggs that can convert speed to power.

He did great at Ohio State as a sophomore but was let go after getting himself addicted to ecstasy. Seems to have turned things around 180 degrees and had a good season at Eastern Kentucky last year.

Yeah. He's special. In 3-4 years time nobody would question that pick.

This is true. I think a lot of us are looking for immediate impact at positions of need which is why this wouldn't come off as the most attractive pick. That being said it seems like an Ozzie move and I would not be surprised if that's who we get.

Different strokes for different folks. Honestly don't know about these projections of this mock. I will say it's different. But I have seen unknowns to me being talked about. It will interesting to see if any of these guys actually achieve/ surpass what's been posted in the later rounds.

meh..I think Buckner is more of an Ozzie move. Not a direct need but with Canty likely on the way out it would be a smart move. And he very well may be the BPA.

I really like the first two picks, Im a fan of both of them, but I'm a little weary of picking Spence there without trading down a few spots.

I think Buckner is equally an Ozzie move and I'd definitely be less upset if we grabbed Buckner.

That incident seems like a pretty big mess and charges were dropped after a week.

may not matter. We will probably just stay away and play it safe. Not a huge fan anyway but il admit I haven't seen much of him. Edited by January J

Dorial Green-Beckham didn't even have charges brought against him and that situation was a complete mess, but the Ravens weren't taking a chance on it.

I'd be open to Spence if they traded back and got him in the mid 1st rounds but not at 6

I see this move down sentiment often...

I'm having issues understanding it. You say you would be happy drafting said person but not at #6, where #17 sounds better?

In the first round does it really matter if you don't wait? I mean if you like a player draft him, why offer him up to someone else? Isn't that the line of thinking that allowed Bryant to slip past us to Dallas a few years ago?

Ozzie often drops back in drafts. Seems to me that you end up picking the last of your favorite choices and often the lowest ranked one at that? Are you just moving back to take the pressure off yourself?

To say "well he was the  only choice available?" is a cop out.

If Ozzie is that good, and he has the #6 pick. Make a decision and go with it.

I'm not a fan of moving down the board.

My opinion is he would be there if they moved into the 12-17 range. Why not move back and get more ammunition for either a trade up into the late first round or more 2nd round picks?

If he will almost certainly be there moving down, then why not? At least you can grab some more picks while you're at it. I don't have a problem with picking him at 6 because its in the top ten, I have a problem with missing out on more picks.

almost Identical size both 6'3 260ish I see the Suggs comp I like him a ton just not at 6 a bit high unless his combine is off the charts

The question is, how can you be sure guy you like will still be there 6-10 picks later? I like Spence a lot for Ravens and I'm not prepared to gamble on that.

At this moment in time I see the Spence pick and maybe the Fuller pick too high.

The main reason and probably the only reason a team would trade back is to gather more picks. Of course you shouldn't trade back unless you feel you have multiple options to where you are trading to.

That being said, Spence is trending as a late 1st rounder, so trading back 6 - 10 spots and nabbing an extra 2nd and 3rd would be a no brainer.

I am just not buying the Noah Spence train in the first

He has an drug addiction and banned for life from Big Ten after failed drug tests for Ecstacy in 2013 and 2014. Arrested in May of 2015 for alcohol intoxication and second-degree disorderly conduct, but incident was expunged from record after community service.

I'm not buying the Noah Spence train in the SECOND tbh.

I could see this draft folding out one of two ways....Ozzie being either extremely cautious and reserved trying to make sure he gets the players he wants with nothing but "safe" picks...or..we see a ton of movement and Ozzie jumps all around the board back and forth while taking a few risks but stockpiling picks and going with a few players that have extremely high upsides but could be a little risky. Either way harbaugh has made it pretty clear they wont be taking on many "projects " anytime soon, if any.

With the tape I saw, not sure if Carroo will last past 3rd round. If he does, I think he would be a steal with his ability to get open.
