[News] Buck Allen Made The Best Of His Rookie Opportunities

22 posts in this topic

He's a really good, versatile back with a lot of upside, but he just keeps his body too upright when he runs. He's going to keep having fumble problems if that continues.

Buck was a bright spot in a dismal season. He has potential to take over as Forsett's replacement. Justin is not getting any younger/faster. Would still love to have a back like Ala's Derrick Henry though, to pound the defense to death.

@Bob21043... Henry is a straight line runner... I see him like a Brandon Jacobs type runner... meaning that he needs a better than average line to be effective... he's not going to make anyone miss... he runs over guys... which works in the college game but in the pro's its the best of the best.. I will say this though... you definitely gonna have to square up and hit him... he breaks a lot of arm tackles...

It would be nice to get a full season out of our RB's next year. I think Buck and Justin compliment each other well. Add Juice to the mix and we can cut, slash, pound and have a reliable go to receiver as an out if needed. Trestman needs to rotate his RB's more if they remain healthy next year. That can lower the odds of injuries. We don't have an Earl Campbell or Jim Brown to put the hurting on whoever gets in their way.

He did pretty well for a rookie. However, I still think Forsett starting gives us the best chance to have a stud running game but splitting good number of reps with Allen. Maybe we should draft a really good RB as well for competition.

great talent and has great catching abilities. We will see how we develops as a runner. I hope he explodes onto the scene like Ray Rice did in his second year.

If we keep Forsett and he remains the #1, the competition for #2 between Taliaferro and Allen should be interesting.

Agreed, the RB and TE groups (as well) are a in good shape going into next year

I see the ability to keep both Forsett and Allen fresh through out the entire upcoming season, minus injury. They'll take 70% of the snaps. Both are great in space and can block and catch the ball. Taliaferro will be the battering ram up the guts and goal line/short yardage. 30% snaps. Either way lots of talent and room to grow. I would still expect the Ravens to bring in at least one or two more RB's for camp, after all it's not a competition unless there are more bodies than roster spots.

Allen is hungry, humble and will be the starting RB next season. This is one position where the Ravens are set. But if a guy like Henry or Alex Collins is available in round 4 or 5 i would take him.

He's durable and versatile, I think he becomes our new workhorse back. I hope Terrence West makes the most of his opportunities as well.

The fact that he had nearly 1000 app-purpose yards in limited touches as a rookie is a good sign. A great sign actually. Ray Rice didn't do as much in his rookie season. Though Buck was used a bit more, Rice has slightly higher averages which one might expect from different types of backs.

I'm looking for a big leap from Allen in 2016. He wasn't overly used like other teams do with promising rookie rushers overusing them so they have a sophomore slump. But that wouldn't explain Taliaferro's sorry 2016.
