[News] Late For Work 1/21: Is Joe Flacco Open To A Contract Restructure? 'Come On, I Want To Win'

67 posts in this topic

Here's why signing Josh Gordon is kinda enticing. He is definitely a top 10 WR in the NFL talent wise and we definitely lack that. Let's just say he's reinstated and we sign him to a league minimum. I am sure he could help us win a few games before he gets suspended again. We could start 4-0 before he's dumb butt does something stupid. lol

He's under contract with the Browns and they're not cutting him.

Where's this coming from? I clearly remember Brady saying he plans to play well into his 40's, not long ago...

That's just my guess based on the structure and re-structure of his contract.  If he truly did want to play into his 40's I don't think the pats spend a 2nd rounder on Garropollo.

Well, they did take Mallett in the third round 5 years ago...

I don't think Garoppolo has much to do with it. Brady's going to play at least two more years for sure, which means Garoppolo will be up for FA by then. If Brady plays three more years, which is certainly possible, I don't see Garoppolo sticking around with the Pats for that long.

To me that just seemed like a best on the board pick at the time. An asset they could groom for a couple years and flip for a higher pick like they did with Cassel. I'm not sure it's even close to the same scenario this time around.

And that's what I think they are doing with Garoppolo... trying to make him look good and looking to deal him in a year or two.

I don't want a Flacco restructure. It is best to give him a new contract with added years. That way we can reduce his per year salary some. We need to do that, not because Flacco is undeserving, but because we are extremely talent deficient at several positions and need to replenish through free agency and the draft. I want Flacco to be compensated commensurate with his total production period. I think he has been more than amply rewarded for his SB win and MVP. Now, we need to take care of the rest of our team, regardless of what Linta may think.
