we just offered KO a deal to make him the highest paid offensive player behind Joe

Wow, where'd you hear that? Zrbriec is following the Harbs presser but I just saw he wrote 'agressive offer'

I know a restructure is very likely but saw this quote from Ozzie where he said he can be "very active" in FA even if Joe's contract doesn't get restructured.

Ozzie must have something up his sleeve if he's saying that.

"We are in a position that we can be very active in free agency without having to get something done with Joe," Newsome said Wednesday during his podium session at the combine.

Probably by backloading deals. I think he can be aggressive even without reworking Joe's deal since we can clear quite a bit of cap for next season, although next season would be rough in terms of cap space if we made such moves.

And there's no way Ryan pushes Joe for the starting gig. I normally try to see other points even if I disagree with them, but that's just not happening.

He made some comments after the past negotiations about how dumb the Ravens were for not signing Flacco to an extension after 2011, when they would have saved money. He was correct but came off arrogant and foolhardy. Didn't endear himself to anyone rooting for the team.

So what are you saying?? Would you sit Joe Cool down if he struggles in favor of Mallett?? What do you think of Mallett?? If Mallett played lights out would there then be a controversy??

at what point did i even mention mallet? you're just pull stuff out of your ... the topic of the thread is flaccos contract and restructure. part of the reason the ravens had the worst season in the history of the team was flacco having an awful year. just being a realist, hopefully this trend doesn't continue....

You said mallet would not be a backup if he played lights out!!  Just asking were you referring to lights out in the 2 games for the ravens or overall

Why do people keep saying Mallett played lights out against the Bengals? Did people not watch the game?

Name one agent that fans like? Agents are universally disliked by fans ... why? Because when an agent does their job well, they make it difficult for their team to retain their favorite players. Both agents and teams comment in the press to vie for position in negotiations and those comments that come from agents are going to rub fans the wrong way.

It is just the nature of the business.

Apparently not.   It's simple,  if Mallet was a starting qb,  he would be starting.   The guy couldn't even beat out tj Yates and hoyer yet some on here want us to get rid of Flacco for him.   Grass isn't always greener

hey do you all think,

joe ask for something;

ie; WR in the first or a certain WR,

better yet in addition to that question,

If you was Joe what would your request be??

no Mcdonald's from aberdeen (my old H.S)

Protection.   Oline.   If you build an oline and give a qb time to throw,  he will make things happen

I would love to see the Ravens draft a pass rush/run stopping defensive player in the first and a wide receiver in the second round.  Unless we trade down, I don't see us wasting the sixth pick on a corner back.  The tight end position needs to be addressed in free agency, too.  Flacco might just make the difference between picking up just any player and a few quality players to fill the needs.  Offensive linemen are a crap shoot in the draft and free agency.  We will pay too much and get little in return if we try to sign another Monroe.

Flacco isn't really into that type of stuff. He's been asked about it in the past and he said that he does occasionally get asked what he thinks of a certain player but at the end of the day he trusts Ozzie/Eric and the scouts to make those sorts of decisions. Their job is to build the team, his job is to play football to paraphrase.

Does help their negotiations with KO so that could have played a role for Joe.

Update: Ravens, Flacco are still close to a deal

but not done yet. So I'm thinking at this point it's just crossing the i's and dotting the t's. Also along with some convincing of KO to sign the deal we offered him lol.

We need to pull the Clippers move on Deandre Jordan on KO and look him in a house and convince him to stay lol.

There is absolutely no reason for KO to accept a deal from the Ravens at this point. It would have to be a very team friendly deal. There are teams out there with $80 mill in cap. He could make a killing on the open market.

My prediction is that he gets offered $10 mill a year and the Ravens can not afford that.

I wouldn't be superseded if he is a raider or a jag
