Flacco the team player. Takes 3 year extension, lowers cap hit.

Joe knows like everyone else, in order to win they need to add more to this team and the only way to do that is to free up cap space.  Joe said he's willing to do so to win.

"Come on, I want to win, so I want to do everything we can to get something done," Flacco told WBAL Radio on Thursday morning to promote a Special Olympics charity event. "I don't know exactly what that is or exactly what that's going to be because we haven't talked about it yet. But I know that that's a huge number and it's not really realistic."

Joe is a great guy. He also knows, that the Ravens won't shortchange him for his good will. It's good to be a Ravens, even after a losing season.

Could you imagine if that was Ben?  "I thought my knee detached completely.  The pain was so intense I couldn't even see straight"

Flacco is easily the toughest AFCN QB and one of the toughest in the league.  Rivers gets my respect also

This is good to see, I'm hoping that we come back stronger next season and ready to play.

*Patiently awaits 2 trouble makers to enter into this thread to complete derail it on how much they hate Flacco.*

On another hand its good to hear that the rehab is going well. Just hope he is going to be like Palmer and Brady where he comes back stronger. Guess time will tell.

I don't know if we want Palmer. Seemed to take a while to catch his stride and Brady seemed petrified his first season back.

Like someone else said, Joe and Rivers are guys I got to tip my hat to.

Gotta love Flacco. Hopefully it's not just talk, and i dont think it is because Flacco is usually a straight shooter and follows through on what he says.

Man, if he can help free up like $8-9 mill and we can recover another $2-4 mill through cuts we'll be in decent shape to resign KO and Tucker while still being able to shop FA for a key piece or two before just hitting the bargain bin.

Flaccos already investing in business ventures and seems to really good with his money, and knows hes already set for life so it seems his #1 priority is helping build a team to win more championships. Plus it doesnt hurt that by helping the team with cap space he ultimately lands himself more guaranteed money. Win-win-win situation for Flacco, front office, and the fans.

Darn it feels good to be a Raven.

Now that is a leader. He knows what needs to be done to get close to being competitive and knows it will cost us and right now money is a HUGE issue. If he wants more targets and more time to hit those targets he needs to allow us to attract the upper tier linemen and receivers. Or go the other way and stop teams from scoring and throw a butt load into the defense. In either case he is willing to restructure and help. So he and Webb in my book showed their commitment to the team and i am so very thankful to them.

Go Ravens !!

And the new salary cap increase which will be in the range of $3M-$10M.

Plus the $1.5M that wasn't used gets rolled over to this year.

We could be sitting pretty nicely for once.

JOE states

" hey OZ, I am going to restructure but I need Treadwell and you can have everything else "

draft day gets here the great OZ trades back with the ram gets both 2nd pic and grabs TREADWELL

OZ then  takes a 2nd and 5th picks  goes back into the 1st rd and grabs a

CB  by the name of KENDALL FULLER,

Thanks Joe  you are the man,,, lol

Out of curiosity, when do we start considering an extension vs restructuring? Joe has 3 years left and if coming off major injury, so I feel it might be a little early to start thinking that. But we have to find a way to move the $28 mil this year and the $31 mil next year. I love Joe at QB, and I hope he continues his success here, but do we want to lock into something going 5-6 years from now when we don't know how he'll respond to his knee?

For Joe, it'll only be an extension.  A restructure simply moves the cap hit back.  Considering he's at 31M in 2017 and, I think 25-28M in 2018, you don't move 2016 money back to raise either of those numbers.

Joe will get an extension that will be focused on signing bonus, aka up front money.  That money will be spread out along the length of the new contract.  The Ravens probably want him to retire here also so I'm thinking a 3 year extension.

Tell me you don't love money unless you are Joe or Webby; those guys are class act with ultimate team player attitude. I was pumped up when Joe wanted to lower his salary cap for the better of the team...

Thanks Joe and you are a great team player and a true Ravens player..

PS: i just got your second Jersey...hehe

I actually laughed out loud when I saw the thread title. Joe gets ripped on here so much by some because he signed that contract. It's not set in stone that we rework it, but we all knew we were going to try

And then he'd have a report come out a few days later. "Oh, I was also playing with bruised ribs. Go me.I'm tough."

everyone knows I love Joe, but I don't know if could say he's tougher than Ben, that dude has been killed for years. Doesn't mean he's not a drama queen and everything...

All I read was Flacco saying "Ozzie, bring KO back to play LT and get me some firepower."

Remember, Burfict injured his head on Joe's crotch in 2014. Can't get tougher than that.

To be fair, restructure doesn't equal pay cut. So when I hear players are willing to restructure, thats never a bad thing for them because they get more cash in their pockets immediately.

I do think that Flacco is a reasonable guy though.

that's amazing

Whats more amazing is the fact there was not a penalty for driving him into the ground. It's laughable how tough flacco is and how little respect he gets.

What's even more amazing is that he threw an absolute dime to Jacoby Jones THAT HIT HIM IN STRIDE (since apparently he is not capable of that feat) and was of course dropped, also was a TD since he dropped it at the 3 yard line and was going to run in. That game frustrated me with the 150 yards of drops, the next game was even worse with the Steve Smith call.

When you live in Cincinnati you care about these games more than Pittsburgh and Joe could of had 400 yards that game and a game winning TD the other game....I NEED THESE THINGS TO HAPPEN so I don't have to get into the Dalton is better than Flacco garbage that I get into.

I despise Burfict, but his tackle on Joe in this video should NOT be called a penalty.
