[News] Late For Work 1/20: John Harbaugh's Unique Perspective On Four Remaining Playoff Coaches

43 posts in this topic

I wonder if Ed may have been giving the buisness to whoever he was talking to with that Patriots fan nonsense. Otherwise it makes little to no sense without additional background info, despite Belichick's man crush on Ed Reed.

Ray Rice had offered to help and work with the NFL months ago with Domestic Violence in young players but nothing seemed to come of it. I am glad that the NFLPA finally at least found a coaching role for Ray and it's a step in a positive direction. Ray Rice has done all a man can do to genuinely redeem himself. I am thrilled that Ray is reconnected in some role to the NFL, which could hopefully open up some doors in the future. Whether it be coaching or educating rather than playing, Ray Rice has a lot to offer. Good luck Ray.

OK - how could it even be possible to have your father be a hall of fame player his entire career with a team, to then be a fan of one of their rivals? C'mon kid!

Hopefully next year one of those four coaches can give a unique perspective on our coach as the Ravens head to the SB :) GO RAVENS!

Wonder if Torrey is doing any charity work out in SF. Seems odd after leaving for more $$ he comes back after deserting the area. I got no problem with charity and all but it just seems odd.

Hope Ed Reed is unhappy in Buffalo and comes down to Bmore for some coaching. Being ring of honor and all.

Harbaugh has either coached with or hired just about everyone in the nfl it seems. The revolving door of coaching is either a blessing or a curse depending on which way you look at it.

The demotion for Ray Rice may do his character some good. Shame he couldn't see what he had before he did himself in. His talent is missed. Can still see him running down the field on opening play against NE several years ago in playoff game. He has special talent. Wish him the best.

Is there an ex-Raven we're more fixated on than Torrey?

I wouldn't say we're fixated on Torrey.  He's a Maryland native and still considers the area home.

It's good to see that he's still giving back and supporting his home.

Plus we're entering the slow news cycle of the year.

Ed Reed's kid a Patriots Fan? Ed must be asking himself the universal parental question, "Oh, where did I go wrong?" LOL

I'm happy for Ray Rice to get to coach the RBs for the NFLPA game. Good on you! What's got me worried is Ed Reed's kid. Did he get hit in the head?

Are you serious?  I can't go three or four days without someone bringing up Anquan Boldin, what a mistake it was and can we sign him back.  It has been 3 years now and people still bring up Boldin and bringing him back far more than anyone has even requested Torry return.  Torrey may be the latest, greatest, fad for Ravens fans, especially younger ones, but Boldin still has more people whining about losing him than any other player I can ever remember the Ravens losing.

I can't believe Torrey was only here for 4 years. It seemed like so much longer. He always seemed to show up for PIT games like no other. Glad he is still involved in the area. People forget he is from here and went to MD. Nothing odd about supporting your community where you are from.

I know that I'll be Negs for this but I feel that Ray Rice has suffered so much that the Ravens should take him back, of course what he did was so stupid and reprehensible but I'm hoping that he learned from that mistake and shouldn't be a problem now, there are great football players that did worst things than like what Ray Rice did, everyone deserves a second chance, he can be a very valuable player for the Ravens moving forward

He might not be amongst the smartest or the best QBs' in the league yet, but show me one that's tougher than Joe Flacco! He fits Baltimore's personality like a glove.

I would have thought Mike Tomlin or Belichick (for different reasons) would have given Rice a chance during the playoffs... or maybe Andy Reid... I have realized this had little to do with Ray and his then fiancee and more to do with people's agenda. Ray I think that NFL RB dream return ship has sailed; you have the rest of your life ahead of you, make the best of it. Good luck.

Sorry, but Torry S. should stay in SF now... so much for $$$ over loyality.

NFL careers do not last forever.  Would you be loyal enough to donate to T. Smith's retirement plan if he would have stayed an active Raven?   Would you run charity events for the local community like him?

I am happy for T. Smith and he will always be a Baltimore Raven.

I wouldn't say nothing came of it exactly. I believe Ray Rice works as a consultant along with the 4 women who were hired by the NFL as advisors in shaping the leagues Domestic Abuse stance. Those women are Anna Isaacson, Lisa Friel, Jane Randle and Rita Smith. They have actually come out and supported Ray for another shot at playing. They have said that they believe Ray has atoned for his actions.

Ray Rice deserves another chance.... The fact the the NFLPA is willing to use him to help coach (mentor) youth players but the NFL has not allowed that door to open for him is just silly! Ray was wrong... he has done and continues to accept his punishment but where is the consistency throughout the league" ?

Thanks budman. I have read and heard about some support for Ray Rice through the NFLPA and DV groups over the past few months, which I was glad to see. I just like that now there is a more visible role for Ray which is garnishing some national publicity as a show of this support, which I hope generates more opportunities for Ray to be involved again in football. Just hoping that the massive volume of negativity starts to subside and that Ray is able to really make positive contributions, have a career in football in some capacity and let the world revise their opinion of him and see Ray for the decent, good and genuine man he really is.

And now here you are bringing it up LOL! Still one of the biggest worst FO moves no matter how you slice it. I know Mr Flacco would agree.

No problem. I believe Ray deserves a second chance. Makes me SMH that Ray is not playing , yet Greg Hardy ended up playing when his abuse was much more severe. Ray has the backing of a few women's groups and still nothing.IDK

Read how Harbaugh described Kubiak, he didn't do what I wanted him to do and we won, Kubiak stuck with his guns and we posted a record breaking season other wise we would have had 3 bad seasons. Kubiak is combative, he doesn't care if you're the head coach if you can't lead a great team to greatness. I know yall won't like this post but the year before and after Kubiak is the proof. Flacco and Forsett before injuries.
