The Marine Mock

23 posts in this topic

So this is the first year i have really followed some of college football and kept up with some players, reading in here, mainly because of how bad our season was.  I wasnt going to do a mock, but since i have extra time at work i figured why not.  I do think after the combine things will change quite a bit.  This is pretty long as i go through the first round and say a little something.  Dont be too harsh on me.

1)  Titans- Laremy Tunsil OT - I go back and forth on this one, they need a lot of help on both sides of the ball.  But getting a franchise qb, they will want to protect him, most likely the most popular pick for them.   (2nd choice Bosa)

2)  Browns-  Paxton Lynch QB - The obvious pick here.  Browns bring in Hue Jackson who does great with QBs, they still have McCown on contract and do not have to rush Lynch in, but will they?

3) Chargers-  Joey Bosa - They need help a lot of places but bosa will be the best left on the board and will make an immediate impact.  Ramsey could of gone here with them losing Weddle.

4) Cowboys- A'shawn Robinson DT - They yet again grab somone we really have our eye on.  This guy is a wrecking machine and will  help that defense tremendously.

5) Jags-  Jalen Ramsey - I love what they are buildng there and i think they win the division next year.  Ramsey will bring a hard hitting playmaker to the team and set up the other side of the ball with Fowler coming back, they are going to be good.

6) Ravens- Myles Jack LB - It was hard to decide between Jack and Buckner, but jack will give us coverage in the pasing game and the team of Mosely and Jack will be great for years to come for us.  I stayed away from CB or Saftey because i think with Jimmy getting healthy and Webb moving over to FS, Wright looked good for us, i think our secondary improves drastically. Daryl Smith is on his last year imo and its a perfect time to get his replacement with Jack.

7) 49ers- Ronnie Stanley OT - Need a lot of help on the OLine and this drastically improves it.  QB is still a need but its too early to give up on Kap with Chip coming to town.  Not trying to get into that debate, but Goff isnt worth taken when there is a chance Kap can still work out.  But we all know how the 49ers FO is...

8) Dolphins- VH3 CB - Grimes is 33 and i expect them to look at the OLine via FA.

9) Buccs- Deforest Buckner DE - team has a lot of holes, but this is BPA

10) Giants- Emmanuel Ogbah - Hoping that Buckner falls to them, they barley miss out, but they need to find pressure on the QB, i like Ogbah, some dont.

11) Bears-  Jack Conklin OL - Bears seems to always need Line help, they get some here, not sexy, but it helps Cutler stay in the pocket a bit longer to decide where to throw the INT

12) Saints- Mackensie Alexander CB - They need a lot of help at defense, and offense, and bulding levys, but this is the quickest difference maker.

13) Eagles- Leonard Floyd OLB - They need help getting to the qb and this is an immediate help.  Most of us wanted him to fall like the approval rating of Obama

14) Raiders- Taylor Decker LT - Building something extremely good up there, they had their Oline fall apart towards the end of the year.  This protects car and will  help the run game.  Just win baby

15) Rams- Jared Goff QB - They take their chances that San Fran doesnt go qb and it pays off so Jeff Fischer can continous his miracle run of 8-8s.

16) Detroit- Laqaun Treadwell WR - I honestly think Megatron is cut or a deal is reworked, but he has a lot of wear on his tires and we know the Lions love WRs, heres a pretty good one.  He may not be Robocop, but Judge Tread should do

17) Falcons - Andrew Billings DT - They had only 19 sacks and need helping putting pressure Cam, Drew, Jameis

18) Colts- Elliot RB - Colts need to get younger at basically every position and Elliot adds a play making ability to this team.

19) Bills- Robert Nkemdiche DE - Rex wont pass on this wrecking machine and will try to bring the Bills back to a defense bully.

20) Jets- Jaylon Smith OLB - Too early to reach on a qb to groom, but they add another stout player to an already stout defensive.

21) Racial Slurs- Reggie Ragland ILB - a big sure tackler who can add consistency

22) Texans- Jarran Reed DT - A good run defender will help the team build their defense

23) Vikes- Tyler Boyd WR - A lot of us wanting him to fall to the ravens in the second, but Bridgewater needs help and Johnson or Wallace isnt it.

24) Bengals- Adolphus Washington DT - Bengals are a very well rounded team, so rounded they stay with a 0 for wins in the post season with Marvin lewis.  But Washington will beef up that line.  There isnt an overall big need, so this pick could go anywhere.

25) Steelers- Cody Whitehair OG - If they dont protect Ben they will need a new qb sooner than they want, this will help that area.

26) Seattle- Vernon  Butler DT - With some FAs coming up, this assures to keep their defens consitent and stout-ish.  They do  need OLine help though.

27) Packers- Shaq Lawson DE - Pack could use a pash rush

28) Chiefs- Kevin Dodd DE - building that defense

29) Denver- Germain Ifedi OL - Kubes needs better OLine play for his scheme to work there

30) Panthers- Noah Spence - This will help that stout defense.

31) Cardinals- Derick Henry RB  - They could really use a RB to take the load off of Palmer for the next two or three years, they do  have david johnson so this might not be a great fit.

Ravens

Round 2/36-  Yannik Ngakoue, OLB

Round 3/70-  Sterling Shepherd WR

Round 4/101-  Joe Dahl OL

Round 5/132-  Kenyan Drake RB/KR

Towards the end i struggled because my depth knowledge is lacking.  Pretty rough, but ive never done  mock draft and this took some time.  I realize my pick for us at 6 might not be that popular, it was him or Buckner. I wanted to find a CB to take ie Fuller/ Apple but it just didnt work.  Well enjoy and let me have the negs

If we took back over buckner and Stanley I would start the fire Ozzie bandwagon lol

Haha yea i was thinking stanley as well, but i think we keep KO and Monroe and see where we go from there.  I think Jack is going to have a crazy combine, not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing.  I kind of wanted to do something different than the Bosa, Buckner, Tread, path...

I don't think lynch is an obvious pick at all. They could go with wentz, goff, or not go qb at all in the first. In fact I have a feeling they wont.

I don't think we will be eyeing Robinson..I actually hope the cowboys take him bc that means one of the other guys at positions of need will fall to us. Right now I see no way Jack goes that high..I do really like him but I'd be literally upset if we took him at 6. But like you said if he has a spectacular combine who knows. Love the rest.. I think I had most of those guys in my last mock.

oh ok got ya. Maybe so but I wouldn't be so sure. Maybe this new coach finally gets some sense and realizes one can be had in the 2nd and they use their first on bosa or something.

I agree, I think they should go bosa. If titans take boss they could take tunsil since Joe Thomas might be on the move.

I think Jack is a big reach at 6, especially with Stanley and Buckner both available. Honestly I think we'd be better off trading back if Jack is best player on our board at 6. ILB isn't an immediate position of need, I suspect we'll take one at some point but we can afford to wait on one, maybe Jaylon Smith will fall to our second pick or we can take a developmental guy. We have options for ILB so we shouldn't pass on better players for Jack.

I'd rather take Buckner, Stanley(Even if we keep K.O), Alexander, Hargreaves, and even Treadwell over Jack. I also don't believe Smith will fall as far as some believe and I think he has a good shot at going top 10 if his knee checks out well.

I think Ngakou is the best pure 3-4 OLB in the draft, would love him here.

Being a UCLA guy, I love the Jack pick. You can plug him in a lot of different places as he adds versatility. Top 10 pick to get the next Bowman? I'm for it.

Sorry man. I meant to give you an up vote. So when you see red, know it is actually green.

spence has bypassed him in my book, the hype train has slowly picked up steam around here and im on it.

ill admit i hadnt watched much of him until i started hearing more about him.

I definitely agree with that, I just question where his stock is at the moment. He would be top 10 if he wasn't kicked out of Ohio State.

I'd be thrilled if we could get him in the 2nd or even as a trade-up guy from the second back into the first. Wow. That would be a great draft imo. That's like having two top-10 picks.

Theres a lot to like abut him. I don't know for sure if he fixed his problems but he surely is an amazing player. I would love him in the 2nd round as well.

My dream draft would be trading back, getting next years first and this years 2nd, grabbing a CB, then getting Spence via trade up and using our original 2nd on a WR.

I think my dream draft is Ramsey with our first & Spence with our second, but since I think that's unlikely, I'll be happy with Spence with our first & Fuller with our second, even if we trade up to get him. I think Fuller is an ideal fit here with Frazier. I just got this feeling he'll get a ton out of him.

ok, you are 1 step closer to adding jack (were you behind this)

but my question is this,

1. Jack is on the board

2. the Rams offer at the least their first and both 2nds's

tell me Mr. Marine 1 or 2, what do you do?
