Myles Jack - LB (merged)

I would be. As much as I like Jack, I don't think he's the answer to their main problems on defense. They'd be better off with Bosa or Buckner.

Would anyone be surprised to see the browns take Jack 2nd?

This years QB class is a joke. I don't think anyone of these guys is worth a 1st round pick.

I think they would be intrigued with pairing Bosa with Kruger.

I could see them trading for Kaep or Mccarron or Garoppolo or making a big offer to Osweiler.

Going after Kaep would be a classic Brown's move. To be fair, it would still be a step up from Manziel, though I'm not sure if it's a step up from McCown. Going after Osweiler would be a decent more for them.

Manning is expected to acknowledge retirement.

It would be a bad move by the Broncos, especially after all that Brock did for them last year. So it's down to Garoppolo, McCarron and Kaep. Hmm, I guess McCarron might be best out of that group. I'd probably just draft Hackenberg in the 2nd. He has a great arm and some talent with a little bit of luck Hue Jackson can fix him. He got a beating in Penn State and regressed in part, because of the lack of talent surrounding him. He did look really promising under O'brien.

I don't see the Bengals trading mccarron to a division rival. If the browns are after kaep that hard then I can almost promise that a brilliant coach like hue is livid with their FO already and it is spelling doom for his tenure before it really even begins.

I think hue is gonna pound the table for goff or wentz. Something tells me he wants one of then really badly

I think Osweiler is the only QB the Browns might go after in free agency. If they don't get him (or don't want to get him) then they grab Wentz in the draft.

Jack likely becomes a Cowboy or a Jaguar. That's my honest opinion. I think Dallas takes a QB, DE, or LB with their pick. I don't think they will go with a CB like Ramsey. They've invested significantly into the position (CB/S) recently and I don't think they will make it another year in a row they do the same thing. Then again, it's Jerry Jones and he doesn't always do what's expected. Shoot, Dallas could take a RB like Elliot, even, and I wouldn't be at all surprised.

That said, I don't expect Jack to make it to us. I think he'll go before we can pick him. That's the vibe I'm getting from what I am seeing. I would be surprised if the Browns took Jack. I think they go in another direction entirely. I think Cleveland goes with the obvious (QB) or Tunsil if Tennessee passes on Tunsil.

Well, Jack going earlier just increases the odds of Buckner or Bosa falling to us. Both of which could be good for us, or would be good trade bait.

Myles Jack shut down Nelson Agholor. Covered him all game. Agholor caught 3 balls fior twenty four yards. Haven't seen the tape but Myles said," he caught no passes on me".

I do think this is something that gets lost when people think of him as just a linebacker. No, he plays nearly every position on the defense, and is incredibly in coverage. Having Jack around is having an extra DB that can handle all the responsibilities of a linebacker. He's a safety that just happens to play in the box a lot.

Troy Polamalu is a better comparison for him than Kuechly, or any other linebacker.

Jack and Ramsey are the only two players in this draft I see as the next (insert HoFer). Jack is the next Troy Polamalu for sure. Ramsey I don't know who to insert there maybe idk Sean Taylor

If Jack makes it past Dallas & Jax, which I don't expect, I hope we pounce.

I would be surprised to see Cleveland take anything other than QB. Would break my heart if they go Ramsey. They'll also likely turn Ramsey into a bust. The universe might rip if they don't draft a QB and they don't bust. I like Hue, and maybe he changes Browns culture, but I doubt it.

Also think Ramsey will be either a Cowboy or Jag. Both defenses could use both Ramsey or Jack.

Totally agree. If there was a way to trade our entire draft for these two, I'd gladly do it. I expect them to have Earl Thomas/Bobby Wagner impacts. Would trade up from 6 for Ramsey.... But Jack at 6 would be lovely.

I agree here.  I see Jack as someone who can make a difference all over the field and I see him forcing a good amount of turnovers.  Im just worried Dallas takes him

Anyone else want Jack at safety for us? I've been thinking about it and we could lose Will Hil next year, Jack would come in and already be more athletic and have better coverage skills than almost any SS in the league, I like the idea of having 3LBs in our base package with Jack at safety then CJ and Daryl in the 3-4 then move Jack to LB in nickel packages. All this would help us maximize our run stopping ability on early down along with our coverage ability on 3rd down.

There will be only one Sean Taylor. He was simply that special.

People seem to forget Daryl Smith is 33 and Brown hasn't panned out. But I'd still be mad if we drafted him given our needs.

Do you still maintain your stance? Or has it changed?

I think once Myles Jack shows the NFL what he can do with his versatility, there will be no one to compare him to because he'll be the first! That is really special.

Bingo. This guy becomes a player day one that an offense better account for. In short order he is the guy on our defense.

I hope he is used creatively in ways that no one else is because he is that multiple and that dynamic.

And he isn't covering some middling TE man to man. A pretty talented college wide receiver who went in round one shut down.

if we land him I consider it a coup of the highest order

Does Daryl Smith's release mean that Myles Jack becomes a more likely target for us on draft day?

I think it's more than likely a cap and performance move, he was being fased out more and more as the season went on, I think if we wanted jack we'd take him whether we had daryl or not.

hue knows the division and how to win, he is very aggressive and I see moves being made

our division is all about defense first,

I do see Bosa going to the Browns

I am sure the fans and their FO are weighing the options.

Jack is something special. D.Smith got released today so I'm thinking if cowboys don't take him which Jerry Jones said they will not take a QB at 4 and Jags pass up on him which would also be a potential landing spot even if Ramsey is still on the board, then if there at 6 he would be our pick. Which would be awesome. Him and Mosely would make the best MLB core in the NFL.

I would like to preface what I am about to say with I would not be disappointed if we drafted Jack, from the only interview I saw him do he seems like a great guy and some who could become a leader on this team, but I am concerned with a few things:

1. The knee- I know it was not an ACL, but we have seen what happens to first round picks with knee injures, doesn't mean he won't be all fine by the start of the season it is just a worrisome thing.

2. Tackling and lack of tackling numbers- People have said he is an aggressive tackler and I agree, but I don't think he tackles well, call me crazy and if you can prove me wrong I will admit it, but many of his tackles are either gang tackles and he is coming in late to finish it off or tackling with his entire body instead of wrapping up or he grabs the top of the shoulder pads and spins him around until he falls. Also he averaged I think 50 tackles a year that seems low as a MLB unless I am missing something, could be he is in coverage and doesn't have as many opportunities.

3. He is so versatile and people have called him a chess piece that I think that you would want a "grand master" to get the most out of him and I don't think that Pees has the creativity to get the very best out of him. This is obliviously not something that should stop us from taking him, but just another concern I have.

I also think the draft is going to go Tunsil, Wentz, Ramsey, Bosa, Jack so I don't see us getting a chance to draft him, but you never know.
