Myles Jack - LB (merged)

I think Myles Jack is a phenomenal football player and deserves mention. I see us all talking Jalen Ramsey obsessively and its understandable. But, Myles is the #1 rated prospect on rotoworld and is an awesome talent all over the defensive field. He is perhaps the best coverage LBer in the last few years. I am deliberately excluding Jaylon Smith because he'll be unavailable in 2016 but is an incredible talent as well. So, how bad would it be for us considering the age of Daryl Smith and the fact that Arthur Brown hasn't panned out to consider Myles Jack? He would immediately make the middle of our defense scary good. Just a thought and please correct me if I'm wrong about him and why.

I do understand this kid was hurt in his junior year and has limited tape available, but from the tape that is available this kid is a stud! Heck, he can be used as a RB too! His size may be a concern for some, but his speed is awesome. He can cover WRs, TE and RB without issue and is stout in shedding blockers in pursuit of targets.

Best guess:  they're waiting until the combine to see that new knee.
second best guess:  teams haven't quite decided where he plays, which goes back to seeing him at the combine.

So basically I think that hype train is scheduled, but isn't here yet.

I would love to have him here. Hes definitely my favorite at the position. I'd for sure consider him as a tradeback target..or if he started slipping into the mid 20s I would trade back into the first and pounce. Edited by January J

People seem to forget Daryl Smith is 33 and Brown hasn't panned out. But I'd still be mad if we drafted him given our needs.

I'd be really happy with Myles Jack or Jaylon Smith. Both of them seem like dream picks to me. Smith is especially good at rushing the passer.

MLB is about to be a BIG need on this team. Jack seems to be good in coverage, which would be a great asset for this team but he struggles to get off blocks and a little bit of an undersized frame.

Same, even though it isn't that much of a need. I have both of them top 5 right now (talent grade).

He's one of my favorite players, but again, how is his knee?

I saw somewhere today that he is expected to participate in the combine, so the knee shouldn't be an issue.

Gimme brothers with a trade up into the late 2nd, all day and all night.

Superior all around lb, much better suited to play 3 downs in a 3-4, plays fierce and with a chip on his shoulder. He can't man cover slot guys and zone cover like a FS but he does literally everythiNG else at a much higher level

If we're playing the talent card, injuries aside, I'd rather go with Carl Lawson. In the very worst scenario, even if we don't draft any ILB, we still have CJ, Daryl, Orr, maybe McClellan, maybe even Brown and a decent FA ahead (Kelvin Sheppard, Craig Robertson who's even above average in coverage, Danny Trevathan, Zach Brown,..).
Jack and Jay.Smith are very good players and athlets but I'd say 3-4 OLBs are harder to find. I wouldn't be toooo happy if we end up picking either of them, honestly.

Carl Lawson is staying at Auburn

ouh.. wow.. Thanks Mt, hadn't read it anywhere.

Good for him, he'll boost his value quite a bit. This also means I already have my two favourite prospects for the next year's draft :D

I don't think there's been silence on him.  Comments on him are just hidden in so many other threads.  He's been talked up an awful lot, and rightfully so.  He's one of the best athletes I've seen.  A guy at his size shouldn't move like he does.  So much explosion.

Here's a good piece about the drawbacks of Myles Jack if you're interested:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2607708-2016-nfl-draft-myles-jack-is-more-projection-than-sure-thing

Interesting read. I read the comments and a couple of the comments (one of them being a UCLA fan) pointed out how the article was more about a couple of lowlights while there should have been a lot more highlights (paraphrasing the comment).

He is an exceptional talent, no doubt, but at #6, no way. Unless Luke kuechly is re admitting himself for the draft, taking a LB this high is tough without acquiring him in a trade back. smith on the other hand when fully healthy is plausible certainly.

Without knowing much about the prospects this year, I'd say Myles Jack has the best chance of being our first pick. WLB is, in my opinion, the weak spot of the defense, and Myles would be perfect for what we need.

Upon looking at Jack again I see a number of things; his pass coverage is REALLY great which is something we REALLY need and his tackling is solid, that's when the good things end; he's a undersized player in the sense that he struggles to get off blocks and may not be big enough to overpower players the way we think MLB'ers should. If he can recover from his injury, gain about 10 pounds of muscle and refine his technique I'd like him at #6.

Just as long as he's done getting cracked by QB's:

I would have taken Jaylen smith in a mid first round pick before his injury.

Doesn't fit our scheme. I'd take him in the second however.

I think there is a better chance of Bosa falling out of the top 7 than Myles Jack falling to us in the 2nd round I think.

he didn't even try to tackle him, that was the problem. If you go shoulder to shoulder with a big guy, most likely you will lose. If he bulks up he will lose what makes him great in coverage, his quickness. Him dropping back into coverage with Moseley up front would be pretty damn good
