I think he proved to be better than Webb, that's how he got the job in the first place if i'm not mistaking. Proven vet resign him before someone in our division does it.

At some point to prevent being always against the CAP, Ravens need to play players they draft and allow them to develop. Wright did not show enough to resign given their cap situation. Walker , Davis, Wilson, and a draft pick should be their goto options.

Show some consistency then we can pay you.

We are done with 1-year wonders tbh.

So should he show consistency for another team then? Yeah, I can see it now...fans advocate not resigning him because he's not proven, he goes elsewhere and plays well, same fans complain that we let him go

Basically rinse repeat of most offseasons...

I feel like we are the Washington Redskins right now. They had the easiest schedule to finish the year after a blowout loss to Carolina, and thought they were actually a playoff team. Green Bay quickly showed them that they are not there yet. We seem to think that our secondary is getting better because we showed improvement on the defensive side of the field at the end of the year, but who did we actually shut down? Ben who we have developed the recipe to beat over the years of Harbaugh? Case Keenum? Ryan Tannehill? AJ McCarron? The only thing we found out is that Jimmy Smith is a good corner when we have a pass rush, but when we can't get there, he will get exposed like the majority of the leagues CB's. Alex Smith, Russell Wilson, Josh McCown didn't have any problems doing what they wanted to accomplish, but they also had plenty of time to throw.

While the teams we faced. In the second half of the year weren't as offensively potent, cutting 100 yards a game off that total is immense. The unit just needs to keep working on their chemistry and have a new brother added to the mix in the 2016 draft. Keep Wright and give us some depth and add either Ramsey, HG3, Alexander, Apple, Fuller, Cravens, or any other playmaker in the secondary to create turnovers.

For those who say when there is no pass rush the corners get "exposed", it is no secret that in football that receivers with more time to get open are obviously benefitted, especially if they find the gaps in zone coverage. No doubt we need a pass rush in 2016 to be successful, but even the likes of top corners like Revis, Peterson, and Sherman are susceptible to giving up plays if their front doesn't get there.

Jimmy Smith btw when healthy is arguably a top 5-10 corner, when fully healthy, he held his own and some of the completions made on him came in the tightest of windows possible.

I like the guy. I think he has potential to fit in well with the guys and our system. He plays really great technique. He doesn't hold guys much and he knows how to get his head around and swat at the ball. Besides that first game he played for us he was great. I think adding a guy like Ramsey will really help us in the secondary. With Smith and Ramsey at CB1 & CB2, Webb at FS, Hill at SS, then having Wright at CB3 or "Nickle" they have great potential to be top 5 secondary fully healthy. I would like to see them add a pass rusher but if they cant get Bosa Id rather see them draft the best CB/S available and then add pass rush depth through the other rds.

Revis is the type of corner that shuts guys down with or without a pass rush. Jimmy is not a shutdown corner, but there are only 4-5 guys that can do that and their shelf life is typically very short (3-5 Years), which is why Revis has been so impressive over the years.

He seems like a decent CB, but ideally not a #2. He played soundly most of the time after the 49ers game, although he got brutalized by Wilson and the Seahawks. Definitely a better option than Arrington.

I wanted the Ravens to get a CB with their 1st pick last season but they went with a WR so I was thinking maybe the 1st pick be a CB this season but Wright played pretty good and can get better especially if the Ravens practice the five man rush, it helps the secondary tremendously because the personnel on this squad can cover the ground very well with their reading and reacting! This move can save money!

Jimmy Smith is a shut down cornerback when healthy. You can argue he let up a lot of big plays this year but he had a foot injury he was dealing with. Last year before going down with an injury he was the top rated corner and finished just behind Sherman and Harris Jr. at the end of the season. I still think he is a top 5 cornerback when healthy. With Wright ending the season the way he did I think we have to resign him. I am excited for next season when we will have Will Davis back. Tray Walker will hopefully play better in year two especially with being a raw prospect. All I can say is this offseason a lot of talented players will not make our roster we had this year. With all the injuries and us adding players for the 20 that went on IR, it will be hard to keep everyones' favorite young prospects.

I agree. Revis in my mind is the best corner since prime time, but he is far more physical in making his tackles, which really makes him complete and I'm hoping we find a great corner like that to put opposite to Smith. While Jimmy doesn't nearly have the technique of Revis, his instincts and physical traits have helped him come along pretty well.

We seem to want to cite statistics at the end of the season to indicate that "all's well" with the secondary, but I'm not really buying into that 100%. Were they better than early in the season? Well, it would be hard to have been much worse. Are they good enough to be what we need them to be to contend? I'm not so sure.

Still, Wright was a welcome addition and, as a pick-up did better than our mid-level FA (Arrington) who was supposed to be a boost to the unit. I'm certainly interested in seeing us retain Wright, but that shouldn't keep us from looking for someone who can challenge him for the #2 CB starting role.

This article sounds like they're not really looking to grab Ramsey were he available and they don't have to take Hargreaves because he's not a six on the mocks so far. Easily can wait for a Mackensie Alexander or maybe Kyle Fuller in the second. Brings up the story about there's no play maker at six so trading back with the Rams while picking up their second round pick has merit. There's any number of pass rushers available at fifteen plus the second round opens up possibilities for a WR or OT or whatever on top of whoever u choose with your number 36 like Alexander who looked good in the playoffs until a game ending injury. Just a thought.

Allowing 12 yards a game since the 49ers game... I think that is good enough for a sale. Jimmy on the other side was shutdown as well as soon as he got healthy. If we actually got a good slot corner and got pressure on the quarterback our defense could easily be top 5 again. Our defense was great at the end of the season.

Oh how we seem to have already forgotten the Seattle game, which was the worst game of the season by our defense. I'm not opposed to bringing this guy back to compete for a spot but we should aspire to have a better option for a starting corner.

If Shareece works out, that really helps our need to grab another DB in the draft. In addition, lets not forget about Will Davis, who also played well before injury. I dont think we are not that far off from a stellar team. We keep injuries down and this team is SB worthy. Case in point, Sherece did well, Webb looked good in FS, and we still have Will Davis and some younger, big physical DBs in the wings like Julian and Tray. We grab another vet from FA and a draft pick for the future(Eli Apple, Vern H, Ramsey) and this DB could be a terror as long as we do our part to add on to the pass rush. That could be adding more to the Dline as well as OLB(nothing is more effective then a Dlinemen coming up the middle on a QB to cause pressure. Offense only needs to figure out what we will do on the Oline(I say Ravens end up rolling with Monroe since he is still young and are gonna bank his injuries are behind him until the bulk of his contract is behind him. Besides I think Jensen could be a solid replacement for KO if he were to leave and we could use the extra comp pick). WR will be fine since we will have Perrimen, SSS, and Aiken back. Now to draft a solid WR1 like Treadwell or maybe even Tosh Boyd(I am a fan of getting Sterling Shepard as well since he looks a lot like Antonio Brown). A few fixes here and there and we should be back at getting in the title race. Manning and Brady are getting no younger, now is the time to build the next Dynasty behind Flacco and our defense!

I surely prefer a CB who rarely has INT's but gives up 12 yards per game on average over one who has lots of INT's but also gives up lots of yardage and TD's...

The best would be the combination of the two of course - lots of INT's and few yards/TD's given up - but if he was like that he would have never been available in the first place...

Well I could state more stats but in 5 years he has none worth mentioning.12 yards per game AVERAGE is a bogus stat. Let’s say he has 5 passes throw to his side. One was dropped by receiver, one was over thrown, one was for no gain, one was block by CB and the last one was caught and ran for 60 yards touchdown. That’s 12 yards per game

i would sign this kid for the right price but if osemele stays and ramsey falls to us than we need to take him. injuries happen and we need solid depth. the wild card here is leslie frazier, i believe he can improve the techniques of the secondary and raise their level of play.
