[News] Ravens Eyeing Pass Rushers, But Draft Options Limited At Pick No. 6

84 posts in this topic

How can you count on Suggs for much of anything.

I love the guy ,but he came to camp out of shape(heavy),getting real old and his head seems to be in non- NFL places.

Have to wonder about out talent evaluators when they passed on Dwight Feeney and signed the Jet guy who didnt know where the line of scrimmage is !

Deforest Buckner is huge, played in a 3-4, and has a great motor. dude plays really hard and fits our scheme. would love to get him, especially if bosa is gone.

i would draft jaylon smith in the 4th if he is still there. could be a steal if he recovers and regains his form.

Buckner has some pretty stats and measurables, but he doesn't look like a top 5 or 6 pick to me.

I don't see any good enough pass rusher either at the 6th pick. I think 1st round we should draft a cb and get Hargreaves if hes available because Ramsey will be off the board already. 2nd round draft pass rusher Shilique Calhoun Or Jonathan Allen 3rd round draft saftey Jalen Mills he a playmaker and can cover as a saftey 4th round Wr Demarcus Robinson he can run routes and has blazing speed.

I watched the Michigan State highlights, wasn't impressed.

I say we go Cornerback with our first pick then LB Scooby Wright in the second. Hopefully, he will still be available.

As if the off season ain't depressing enough... Tell us something we don't know Kiper

Good news is there will be options regardless of how things shake out in the draft.

This is essentially laying the groundwork for a trade back in the first round with a team like the Texans who are QB hungry. We trade back and take a pass rusher more suitable for a late first round slot, and in return we secure their 1st rounder next year so we have two 1st round picks in 2017.

This isn't a pie in the sky Madden-esque scenario. I think the Texans and Niners are going to be trying to out manoeuver each other for a QB.

I agree and I would add the Eagles & Rams as two more teams looking for a QB in the 1st round. I think the Ravens could trade back and still get VH3 or Treadwell in the teens (Average 40 times will drop them down).

He's more of a run stuffer type than pass rusher and more DE than OLB. We have some nice talent on the D-Line already with BWill, Jernigan, Urban, Carl Davis. Rather see a trade back than a reach.

Small school Pass Rushers (probably available mid-late rounds) - I'd take any of these guys.

Matt Judon, Grand Valley State

Kyler Fackrell, Utah State

Victor Ochi, Stony Brook

James Cowser, Southern Utah

He's a second rounder at the latest.

Ogbah gets no love because he played at a smaller school in the Big 12, but I promise you he will be a versatile 10+ sack player with the size and power to defend the edge. Buckner also fits the bill. Pass Rushers I wanted us to target in the past before the majority were projected to go in the 1st Round: JJ Watt, Justin Houston, Ryan Kerrigan, Shane Ray, JPP. Freak Athleticism + Motor = can't miss. Find us our next Suggs Ozzie.

I think the Texans and Niners are going to be trying to out manoeuver each other for a QB.

That seemed to be the case before the Niners appointed Chip Kelly. Now the expectations are that he's gonna use Kaepernick, basically eliminating the niners' need for a first round QB - meaning our "pre-Niners" draft spot suddenly got one notch less enticing for QB-needy organizations.

absolutely no way he makes it to the fourth..hes a second rounder at the very least.

I believe Allen is going back to school.

and I don't know why so many ppl think Ramsey won't make it to us, it's actually pretty likely..the jaguars are the only team I see that we may need to worry about. But even if he does get taken it could be a blessing in disguise bc he is a risky pick.

I think our best pass rushing option is yannick in the second or moving back into the first and grabbingfFloyd.

Jaylon Smith is an ILB, so kiper's statement makes no sense when talking about pass rusher

ILBs can't rush the passer?

Honestly we don't need a pass rusher at 6 if the prospect is not worth the early slot then take him with a later draft pick. There are no rules that say Oz has to take a pass rusher in the first round. Besides we still have Sizzle and Doom and also the younger guys Urban and Smith.

January J, yes but not in the sense that their implying as an every down pass rusher. Plus just cause he can blitz doesn't mean he is effective using pass rushing moves

where have you seen that he is being projected to be on the inside.  he has the measurable to be an outside guy. i mean he could be an inside guy but his measurable are more in line with a OLB.  i really don't know much about this years draft so i could just be out of the loop.

I dont know how Pass Rush options are ,imited at pick 6...

I have seen 2-3 different draft sites that have 3 or 4 pass rushers in top 10.

Between

Bosa

Myles Jack

Robert Ndkumdeche

Jalen Smith(injured now)

Ogbah

So if you assume Smith drops cause injury..still 3 top 10 pass rushers usually

Then depending on mock draft you'll find Floyd, hovering around top 10

I guess that's why GMs don't get paid to listen to Mel Kiper. Wasn't he the one that said Elam was a perfect fit? Shaq Lawson, Calhoun, Bosa can rush the passer very well. Who cares if they can't cover. The league is not design to favor guys to cover. The rules make it too hard. Suggs, Dumervil, Upshaw, JJ for Ravens- D Ware, Miller on broncos are not great cover guys. You adjust your defense to talent as it presents itself.Panthers, Bengals, Cards, Seahawks are among the top defenses and run the 4-3. I think the Ravens should consider adjusting that if the available talent suits that scheme.

YES! I'm interested in his combine #'s because if he has a good 20 second split and 3 cone drill, he'll be a top 10 lock 100%... Clemson plays a complex defense that required him to do a lot of reading and reacting. I'm hoping thats the reason he doesn't always explode off the line.  Just knowing the players we like, (and as corny as this may sound) he plays like a raven.  Read Dabo's comments about him and then fit that into the mantra that Marchibroda instilled (talked about in a previous article).  the dude loves football, loves watching film and working out.  That just makes me think he'll be a star in the league even more.  He is a leader, a hard worker, and a smart player.  Also he is pretty damn talented as well, his spin move is near perfected and reading other scouting reports it sounds like he really has only begun to tap into his pass rush potential.  If ramsey isn't there I want Lawson
