[News] Ravens Make Two Additions To Coaching Staff

67 posts in this topic

Once Clarence pulls through he will be the DC, mark my words next here he will be the head honcho on that side of the ball, it's long overdue. Good luck to the new additions, Frazier has quite the resume, hopefully he really catches on and finally brings some fire to our secondary but that Tampa secondary last year was awful, hopefully that wasn't on him...Cullen coached a couple solid players and one superstar down in Tampa as well (don't know why we are after Tampa layoffs...), we'll see how he does, I'm sure Brooks won't be staying completely away from the team.

Solid hires. The more experienced guys we have in the war room the better. When your brain trust consists of head coaches that have been in charge of personnel decisions, game planning, play calling, dealing with the media, guiding young athletes and making sure everyone sees the big picture and stays honed in and focused, your gonna have a solid organization. It shows humility and maturity on the part of Harbs that he sees the value in being surrounded by guys that have been in his shoes and get it. We always tend to have 2 or 3 former head coaches roaming the sidelines each year and we stay situationally aware by committee.

I don't see this as a positive move, regardless of the superstar... Is it not possible better options were in the makings?  Was it monitary, good ole Joe buddy... This team has sucked in the secondary for a long time... Oz's drafting hasn't been the most flavor... Should have waited awhile... See all that was on the table....

Very good...Except:  these guys coach/motivate according to their superior... they don't dictate changes... We've been through alot of coaches.... Linebackers are not near what they were 3 to 4 yers ago, neither is the secondary... Elam is a bust, Tor Smith went to another team, it didn't matter, Flacco has a hard time getting the timing right anyway...When is the last time we had a superstar player on Defense...e.g., a #99 that plays for Houston... If Oz gets motivated by how many picks we can gobble up but can't pay off, then he becomes the problem...

Absolutely the best move to bring in Leslie Frazier to coach our secondary! That was the only area of coaching that I felt was sub-par last year and have said it on several occasions on this forum.

I hope everything is okay with Clarence Brooks! Our players absolutely love him and he is a true Raven.

Oh and solid signings, awesome to see they are making moves already. Shows that its going to be a promising offseason.

Brooks is a hell of a coach on the DLINE, so is he getting pushed aside? Because of illness or promoted? How is this working?

I mean I know Brooks has a more important battle on his hands right now, but praying gid gives him a clean bill of health and a victory over his sickness he shouldnt lose his DLine coach job.

I for one really went off yesterday but boy did our FO make up for it. I stand with my words I said yesterday but this sure makes that pill easier to swallow. Frazier is a great guy and will certainly teach our guys a few things pees couldn't

my prayers are with clarence brooks and hope he makes a full recovery because he is a heck of a coach and from what i have heard an overall good guy. thats what im talking about with the leslie frazier hire. he will make a difference in the secondary. i do not know much about cullen but hopeful he can be an asset. i feel better about the secondary now that they have a veteran coach who has been one of the best coaching the secondary plus the fact he has def coord. experience it will put some pressure on pees to come up with more aggressive schemes

I don't think it's any kind of pushing Brooks aside - as you mentioned, he currently has more important stuff.

We all know both Ozzie and Harbaugh deeply respect experience, so Frazier was a typical and absolutely logical move.

And, as far as Cullen doesn't bring his off-the-field antics, he should be an exciting addition, too.

Should've been Ed Reed :(

im more comfortable with somebody who has years of coaching experience. Let's let reed get his feet wet and who knows what the future will bring.

From what I'm reading,,, sounds like some good moves (I rely heavily on these boards for opinions)

Hoping the very best for Brooks, classy move to position him within the organization but where he can fight his battle and not stress as much regarding the team (much bigger things than football)

Why?

Ed has more practical experience,  knows most receivers,  younger, played in the AFC, and highly respected by players. Ed's negatives are less than anyone they could hire negatives. All this is the coaches club and no different than skullen bones club.

Glad Frazier is on board! This should provide a boost to the secondary :). I don't know much about Cullen, but welcome to the Ravens. I hope Coach Brooks is getting well, very sorry to hear of his cancer, he is without a doubt one of the best coaches in the league. I still remember his SB wired statement "They're weak, go after them!" lol. GO RAVENS!

To be honest, by the way they played, it seemed like the DL was going uncoached. Everybody just doing their thing to mediocre results.

1. The conference he played in his highly irrelevant, since there's obviously no difference in style of play between AFC and NFC

2. Reed just got hired as a glorified intern. Zero NFL teams gave him this job...because he hasn't earned it. Being a great player doesn't earn you this kind of job.

Finally- I think this is a great pick up because our secondary has been weak over the past 4 years... I think this was a Bisciotti call..

Pretty much zero percent chance Steve cares who the secondary coach is...
