Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics

13 posts in this topic

I know that some of the Ravens players, employees, and TONS of Ravens Fans will be totally jumping in the freezing waters of the Chesapeake Bay on Jan 30th at the Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park. I've been doing it for 11 years and believe me, Ravens Fans make up a huge chunk of the near 10,000 warm hearted people who raise money for Special Olympics Maryland by jumping in 38 degree water every year! I mean who is better prepared for a plunge in the Bay in January than Ravens Fans - totally into hanging out in freezing weather all day drinking beer at their tailgates followed by 3 hours of screaming our heads off in support of our team lol?!!!

So hey Ravens Fans, if you're plunging, let's hear from you!

I just realized this is probably the first year Joe will miss out on this.

Joe missed out Super Bowl year.

It's really not THAT bad.

Yeah ok. I'll just make a donation. I can't take the ocean below 62 much less 38 degree bay water.

When I was an assist scuba instructor we used to do checkout dives in Beaver Dam in the 80's and some times the water was a thick 33 degree's F, I swore the only water I'd be in in Jan/Feb was FL or the Bahamas!  Good luck to all that are doing it.
