Ed Reed Hired as Asst. Coach in Buffalo (merged)

I'm really pissed about this. We should've done this. That's what happens when you don't act before everyone else, with Ed coaching here we'd have a REALLY good farm system for our young DB's and he'd be a GREAT hype man. Best of luck to him.

Reed likes Rex can have his say there. Here he probably wouldn't have as much freedom.

This. Good fit for Reed, being back with Rex.

Damn it, this is what I've been wanting us to do since Reed retired.

Then again, I guess too we didn't know Ed was interested in coaching until this news came out. Also if we knew he wanted to coach, there would have to be interest from us to make this happen.

I think it's best for Reed to coach the scheme he's more familiar with in a different organization.  I think it might be too personal for the ravens with him right now.

We should've asked. Only takes a phone call between really good friends. Guess we just didn't think about it.

So I may get hate for this but.

Pees is old. Once he retires or is fired, if Reed is a good Db coach, guess who the first person we look for is?

What a smack in the face this is to the entire Ravens organization. After this year of ineptitude, all I can do is sit here and laugh.

Might be a wait and watch type of deal for the Ravens. Maybe he does well in his contract with Bills, Ravens pursue him afterwards.

Reed states he was interested in coaching numerous times, more so than Ray, Reed was open to coaching. it should've been the first thing asked when he retired... But we want Pees and continuity of average defense.

What makes you think we didn't ask? Some people like to start off fresh some where else even though Ed Reed is quite familiar with Rex Ryan it's still a totally different city and team/organization.

Not really. You think the Steelers are upset over Rod Woodson being the Raiders DB coach? Also for as great of a player Reed was, doesn't mean it would translate to coaching. Whether it was us or Buffalo in this case, it was a gamble not knowing what they are getting. I'm happy for Ed, I wish he was coaching here but that's it.

I don't see it as much of a gamble..... He's going to be their assistant DB coach. If anything else, Reed adds one of the most intelligent defensive minds to ever play the game, to a defense that is already VERY good. Hope everything works out.

I'm actually excited about it. Ed is a good fit with Rex. Will be fun to hear reviews on him. I bet they get the nod for hard knocks as well

I think this is getting blown out of proportion a little bit.  Reed is a first time coach.  He always loved (like a lot of players) Rex Ryan and knows the system.  I'm just happy for Ed that he was able to go from player to begin the coaching ranks in such a short period of time.  I'm sure Ed is well aware the Ravens organization would welcome him back at any time

I'm not surprised to hear this news whatsoever cause imo the Ravens always seem to move so slow on potential moves like this....

I think Ed will fit right in with the Ryan brother circus. It'll be good experience for him and maybe for once we can poach someone else's staff in a year or two.

Glad Reed is starting to coach, disappointed it's not with the Ravens he could have given us some leadership at the very least, and I think that's the exact reason he's not here, if we wanted him he'd probably be here right now. But I think Harbs is probably still a little sore over the mutiny business and thinks Reed could effect his hold in the locker room.

Not correct - Reed stated that he wants to start coaching.

Same here. The freak out over this is a bit much. Who knows how he'll do, but I hope he does great.
