[News] John Harbaugh Calls Hue Jackson A 'Great Hire' For Browns

50 posts in this topic

I hope the ownership of the Browns give coach Jackson time to actually build something. The Browns need a hardnosed coach who can also run a great offense. If the Browns do keep Manziel, Hue Jackson can get him back to Johnny Football on the field but off the field who knows.

Browns coaching position has been a revolving door. Hue has a talent roster to work with. I definitely think Browns will pursue QB in the draft cause that's really the only missing piece. Ravens have to likewise fill in the missing pieces for long term success. Browns will get better.

The browns need to be patient w/ hue. Give him 3-4 years to change that team's culture and get in personnel he needs. If they do that, the browns will be on the up & up. If not, they will continue to be crappy.

We never really know the whole story behind someone's firing, but I thought Oakland gave a great example of how horribly run their franchise is when they fired Hue Jackson. They went 8-8, which is a great season for them. It may have been their only non-losing season in the past decade. Maybe their was something going on behind closed doors, but I don't see why they would fire a coach who took over a losing franchise and had a .500 season. The Bengals offense was good with him calling plays, but he really has his work cut out for him with the Browns.

Thats bad for us i guess since we can't seem to beat the Bungels lately, on top of that we lost at home for the first time since 2007 against them Brownies. So should we be worried? Maybe! I sure hope this is not a trend of not beat Mr.Hue.

Hue is a good coach. As previously stated, Cleveland needs to give him enough time to try and legitimately turn that team around. If they continue with the revolving door philosophy they'll remain bottom dwellers.

I also think he got a raw deal in Oakland. He pushed for the trade that sent a few valuable picks to Cincy for acquiring Carson Palmer. That didn't have immediate results, so it probably led to impatience with Hue by the Raiders (pure speculation).

Look at Palmer right now though. Maybe Hue knew what he was doing after all.

Really, I'm sort of shocked. I thought the Browns would be among the last teams to land an HC. Seems like a great guy, but well ... unfortunately can't wish him well now!

As a division rival, I was really hoping the Bengals would lose Hue to a HC position... just not to the Browns. He seemed like the best HC candidate hitting the market this off-season. Really surprised he chose the Browns when he probably could have picked a much better organization.

Meanwhile Ed Reed is now coaching for Buffalo

I don't know if Ravens ever offered Ed the chance, but what a missed opportunity for Ravens to have a legendary player continue to contribute to their team. They should have been approached Ed knowing he was interested in coaching.

R u serious? Smh that should have been us. I guess our staff with HArbaugh isn't really sought after like that. After all, Rex Ryan is the coach over there, and they understand each other better than if Ed was under Harbaugh. Complicated and frustrating situation we are in. Smh.

Not wishing Hue success while he's coaching in the North. It's tough enough already lol. Go take that elite offensive mind elsewhere...or bring it back to Baltimore lol. I dream.

Coach Reed...Ed Reed, the former Ravens star who is considered one of the best safeties in NFL history, is joining Rex Ryan's Bills coaching staff. "He's going to be a phenomenal coach," Ryan says. Damn I wish Ed the best, he shoulda been joining our staff tho.

The Ravens are idiots not hiring Ed Reed as our secondary coach. The Ravens made a big mistake there. It would've been great continually here with the Ravens.

Unbelievable !

How is Ed Reed available for a coaching gig and the Ravens, who I may ad, haven't had much of a secondary since Ed left, not offering him a position on our staff ?

Bend don't Break = Broken !

Hue Jackson is great hire but they have an owner that will find a way undermine the team. I'm more curious to how well their GMs MLB experience translates.

.... and they still need a QB.

WOW! Ed Reed assistant secondary coach for the Bills. Even if he's only an assistant for now, our FO dropped another HUGE deuce right here.

It's not unfair to say that we have had one of the worst secondaries for couple of years now. Just yesterday it was mentioned how much we have already invested into safeties (we'll have 22+ mil $ AND 2 recent high draft picks worth of safeties on the field in 2016), and still our secondary is in shambles. I refuse to believe that our secondary is talentless, therefore it has to be the coaching. And at this point basically no coaching move can make our secondary worse, so there is NOTHING to lose with signing Reed. But the upside is HUGE. Even if he'll be an understudy for a year or two, after that he could be one of the best in the business. And who knows where he can go from there.

I can't stress it enough how disappointed I am with our FO at the moment.
