I Want The Steelers One More Time.
I understand that you don't want things getting out of hand, but it is kind of frustrating that I cannot make a single post without being called an idiot, told to shut up, or accused of being a Steelers fan. I stray from the mainstream train of thought, and people apparently can't handle that. I'm honestly just trying to improve the board by bringing in a different perspective.
Believe me, I tried to think outside the box a loooooong time ago. Before this season started, I said we wouldn't make the playoffs, and gave lots of (logical) reasons why. It was meant to start a healthy, intelligent debate.

And I got blasted for it, without reason.

So, I just threw up my hands, and just gave up. "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink."

I too thought that we were at least a season away, but I guess that is why you play the game. We were pretty darn bad in preseason, and even in training camp, the quarterbacks did not look good. Everything was pointing toward another disappointing season, but I now know that in the NFL more than any other league, a team can instantly turn around the franchise.

id agree with you on the preseason expectations for this team.
when i get my hands on a pocket schedule i always go through and mark down wins and losses on it and i think i came up with 6-7 wins
this season has been a great surprise

For some odd reason, I'm bored watching this game. Maybe it's 'cause I have no real interest other than the winner facing our team next week. But it's funny, I can't even appreciate it as a regular football game.

i think part of it goes to being emotionally drained from the game yesterday too for me at least

I agree. But I keep getting slanted back to hating pittsburgh.

My problem is, if we do play the Steelers next week, and lose it's a double whammy. Not only are we out, but we are sending our biggest rivals to the superbowl. I might get extremely sick.

But on the other hand, if we play the Steelers and beat them, then the win would be double the sweetness.

I know right. I feel like I should be happy today. But I feel kinda drab instead. I was so emotional last night, and drained it all.

In that case, I'd rather not risk Pittsburgh going to the Super Bowl, period.

This is a situation where I'd rather be cautious in what I wish for, and I'd much rather NOT give the Steelers any more opportunities to get into the big dance...even though the possibility of a Chargers vs. Eagles/Cardinals would be a pretty lackluster Super Bowl matchup...

A Ravens/Steelers AFC Title match WOULD be epic, but again, I don't want to risk the Steelers going to the Super Bowl -- the ultimate bragging rights over us, even if they choke in the big game.

Did anyone else notice that we set a record for most users online yesterday (536), replacing the former one where we faced the Patriots last year?

That's exactly what I'm talking about. It would be epic, and I think we could win. But why risk it?

I love the Ravens, but I am having a hard time getting excited about yesterday's win. Too much controversy surrounding it.

Next to the Patriots, I've always thought the Chargers were boring to watch.

Just seeing Ward make that catch, pisses me off. I wish I didn't have so much hatred for the Steelers.

I don't even want to think about it, but could you imagine sending Pittsburgh to the Super Bowl...

Well, that and the smile in the slow-mo replay as he transitioned to grab some YAC.

I know...I had been too wrapped up in yesterday's game for the past week, that I hadn't even thought of the (obvious) consequences of losing to the Chargers or Steelers next week.

And no, that's not a prediction or assumption as to what will happen in the AFC Championship game. That's just me addressing the possibilities...

...and wanting to throw up because of it.

I just can't believe that Arizona and Philly are the two teams from the NFC. Arizona wouldn't stand a chance against the Steelers defense.

San Diego is one thing, but Pittsburgh? Ugh...

Plus, that would make it three times in one season.
