Agreed. And since I hate both teams, watching this game makes me sick to my stomach.

So because something doesn't happen often, that automatically makes it lucky? Huh?

yes. if a kick/punt return was based solely on skill and nothing else they would be more common
as it would become a learned skill of the game like a long field goal

its ok though i forgot youre a not so in the closet steeler fan

I still don't get why people have to resort to calling me a Steelers fan.

You called a great kick return by Holmes lucky, and I questioned your logic. You then reasoned that because returns for touchdowns are rare, they are therefore lucky. I disagreed.

I think that kick/punt returns for touchdowns are rare simply because it is extremely hard to pick up every single gunman and keep them blocked until the play is over. Just because an interception for a touchdown is rare, that doesn't make it lucky. Would you say that Ed's returns are lucky?

Good point! I was going to throw Devin Hester out there to help your point. I think what is boils down to his the mentality of the blocking. With Ed our defense snaps into an offense with the mind set of blocking.

I'm trying to refute that point by comparing it to interceptions for touchdowns. They're rare, but would you reason that Ed's returns are lucky?

the only difference i see between the two as that he has done it so many times that it shows that is a skill of his
like someone mentioned above about hester a few years back. he had learned the skill of returning because of it
happening so often.
now to go back to the play at hand, had holmes been returning punts for huge gains and tds all year i may not consider it
as so lucky but thats not the case. just random luck

...

Alright, you either cannot detect sarcasm at all, or I'm very bad at getting my point across.

I've also admitted to being a ten year season ticket holder, which you either may not have ever gotten the chance to read, or just chose to think that I attended every Baltimore game, yet still supported the Steelers...

(Taken from my response in another thread).

We simply disagree. I think that Holmes doesn't get kick returns for touchdowns all that often because he isn't the only returnman, he hasn't been in the league all that long, and bringing back kicks is a very hard task. If a player had slipped and/or completely whiffed, then it would've been luck, but in this situation, Santonio just had a great return.

there were chargers running down the sidelines right next to him that brain farted and didnt push him out of bounds thats as bad as a whiff

I understand that you don't want things getting out of hand, but it is kind of frustrating that I cannot make a single post without being called an idiot, told to shut up, or accused of being a Steelers fan. I stray from the mainstream train of thought, and people apparently can't handle that. I'm honestly just trying to improve the board by bringing in a different perspective.

Most of the original members and/or people that were here through the thick and thin may not agree with me, but they value my opinion. It seems like some of the posters who have just joined resort to insulting me and aren't interested in actually discussing anything.
