[News] Late For Work 1/13: What Is Kamar Aiken's Future In Baltimore?

62 posts in this topic

Kamar is a 3rd round tender at best... if someone gave us a 3rd rounder for Kamar... I would do flips...Imagine picking 6th and having two 3rd rounders... (I am sure we could find someone to help the team equally as much with another 2nd round pick (especially when our first pick is at 6th)!

A late round tender would be too risky.  If we put a late round tender on him and he accepts an offer from another team we don't get any compensation from that team b/c he was undrafted. See the note below from the article;

(since Aiken was an undrafted rookie, Baltimore would get no compensation for a low-round tender).

Kamar will be back! He is our possession WR of the future and proof that hard work pays off. I don't care where he is listed on the depth chart, he needs to be on the field because he works his tail off to get open and he catches the football when he's targeted. 75 rec, 944 yds with 4 different QB's facing top corners for the majority of the season is impressive. We just need Perriman to come in and be our burner.

What's even more impressive about his numbers was, he wasn't much of a factor at all until SSS went down.  If used earlier in the season he could have easily been a 90 catch 1200 yard guy.

Don't really care what they do as long as they make sure that young man returns to Baltimore. He has shown that he can produce once given the opportunity... it was no accident that did what he did... he's been itching for the opportunity to prove himself and he has... 75 catches 900 yds... 5 touch downs.... durable as well... can work the slot or outside the numbers... would luv that production on my team... I do think we could use some speed on the outside but I don't think its necessary... not every team has a burner on the outside.. we just have to be more discipline on offense... penalties killed us this year...

2015 Season:

Torrey Smith:  33 catches, 663 yards, 4 TDs

Kamar Aiken:  75 catches, 994 yards, 5 TDs.

Yeah we need to keep Aiken!

I respectfully disagree because of his durability. Who was the only receiver from opening day that was still standing at the end of the season. No matter what is asked of him he goes out and does it. He is clearly a step above Marlin Brown, Givens, Matthews, Waller , etc... He is worth a second over a third because he is reliable and he played through injuries that other sat through. If Joe is worth 27 mil, Aiken is certainly worth 2 mil or a second round tender. Where else will you find someone that durable with that many catches for that price?

Aiken has proven his worth in what we're currently building. With added continuity, and hopefully a lot less injuries, our offense should thrive. IMO, definitely worth a tender.

i hope harbs at the least interviews some of the top college dc's for the lb coach position that it is any of them have any interest in getting a foot into the nfl as a coach. nolan was ok as dc here but his defense was stacked with pro bowlers which he would not have here if he were to be hired and take over someday.

Roumd2 contract for Aiken is ludicrous. Round3 is the sweet spot. No team would likely pay a round 3 draft pick for Aiken. No guarantee he plays as well as this season. Who wouldn't take a roumd3 pick for Aiken??

if all of those players are struggling at the safety position than why not look at the secondary coaches

it is upsetting that harbaugh was quick to say that there wouldnt be any coaching changes aside from replacing ted monachino. the secondary has been inconsistent for the past 3 seasons yet no coaching changes. hope it all works out or steve will have a different tone at the next state of the ravens. zimmer of the vikings just fired his d-line coach for lackluster play the past 2 seasons and he did something about by getting rid of him. harbs needs to do the same before wasting a whole season again

sign Aiken 3 years 14 million dollar contract thats resonable before he has another good season and breaks out and becomes to much and we cant afford him kinda like torrey smith.

There isn't a 3rd round pick compensation option for Aiken.  Read the article.

If the Ravens know what is good for them they will sign Aiken sooner than later and not tender him. The man has earned a new contract with his effort and play/results this year and will be a key piece moving forward. Cannot continue to let solid players leave at WR. One good year is not enough command a top-dollar contract so don't be foolish. Give him an fair contract with bonuses as incentive. That way the Ravens pay for only what they get, and Aiken gets what he earns.

Not that interested in reading about Aiken's status. OK to have him back on a cheap one year deal. Otherwise no big deal.

We must keep Kamar Aiken. He really stepped up into the starting role and made a lot of big plays. I can see Aiken, Perriman, and Triple S being a serious recieving core for Flacco. Also with our TEs. Gillmore,Maxx williams and Nick Boyle all showed incredible potential and I still have hope for Pitta.

Safety.....no way! Wouldn't be surprised to see the Ravens trade down a bit and take an inside Linebacker with pick #1. You don't pick a safety in a prime slot.

Outside of Smitty as one of our best wideouts we do need him not knowing if Perriman will make it on the field and play football when the 2016 season starts. I've seen what he can do so to me it makes sense to keep this play maker around longer.

How many more safeties do we have to draft before Oz / DaCosta get it right? 15 more times? Also, we're talking about Kamar Aiken... at best, he's a number 3 on any other team... I also think we need some more linebackers as well- overall, I say we need to get younger and get more speed- we have a lot more holes than management likes to think, and I hate to say it, but the Bungals and Squeelers is now the rivalry in the AFC until we get competitive again, probably in 2017 or 2018.

You have to keep in mind that we had a dominant defense because that was where all of the FO focus was. They are now trying to have more balance between offense and defense. It won us our second SB in 2012.

Yea well now we have no defense, so it seems to me that the FO focus should be back on defense again

I guarantee you that, barring major injuries, there is no way that Kamar Aiken puts up better numbers next year than this previous year. Signing him to a long-term contract now is dumb when his value is at an all time high because of his production. If Aiken puts up better numbers then that means either we had major injuries again or Breshad Perriman is a bust.

Trading back could very well happen for us, wouldn't surprise me at all. If a player like Ramsey falls then obviously I think we take him, but trading back a few spots wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.

I like Aiken as a WR. The great thing about Aiken is that he can play inside and out. We can use him outside and move SSS inside to work the slot. We do need to add more play makers, but we have guys who can produce. I just hope Perriman turns into a player. SSS, Aiken, Perriman, Camp, Butler, Waller sounds pretty good to me. Its going to be a good competition to see who gets those last few spots. I also love our TEs. Even without Pitta.

Let's get rid of Jimi Smith and that will clear up a lot of cap money. He has not proven his worth in several years and even the Raven thought that given him that much more money was a big mistake. So do we, Ravens!
