[News] Vontaze Burfict Fined $50K For Hit On Maxx Williams

17 posts in this topic

He has obviously becoming a dirty player like James Harrison of the Steelers taking cheap shots at opposing players, hit him in his pocket and suspension is a better way of addressing the behavior!!!

Not enough. The way burfict plays us and other teams is disgusting. They could fine him every week but they don't. Marvin Lewis needs to get control of his players!

This player is beyond dirty or reckless. Vontaze Burfict has displayed a pattern of behavior that rises to the level of malicious criminal intent. He has attempted to maim multiple rival players with the intent of ending their careers. The vicious criminal should be arrested, indicted, convicted, and incarcerated.

The NFLPA has an obligation to protect the rights and safety of its' members. This criminal has assaulted mutltiple players on multiple occasions. The NFLPA should be condemning the inadequate consequence the league has levied and demand this criminal be immediately expelled from the league.

Furthermore, they should be demanding criminal charges brought against Burfict, as well as an investigation into the activities and policies of the Cincinnati Bengals, who have displayed a gross disregard for the health and safety of players.

Ban him for the year without pay. Give him a taste of life without paychecks if he continues to do what he's been doing. No one has time for players like that in the NFL. I hate our rivals but that hit on AB was uncalled for. No place for that in this league or any sport for that matter.

I say suspend him or cut him too. He's a danger/detriment to the league (although he is certainly not the only player in the league like that). NFL needs to be much harsher on discipline for a great many types of infractions.

He cost the Bengals their biggest game of the season.

Cincy was winning games (they were 6-0) before he even started playing this year. Vinny Rey and Lemur are good enough to play alongside Mauluga and still get the job done. Burfict needs to go.

We could go on and on about other players on other teams that are "trash" (to quote another team's fan),, but that would be a never ending, getting-nowhere discussion.

-Suspend Burfict longer (or Cincy should cut him)

-NFL get much tougher on discipline for players around the whole league

In 1968 Paul Brown paid $10 million to enter the AFL. Two years later, the Cincinnati Bengals were full fledged members of the NFL, and proved they belonged by capturing their first division championship in just their third year of existence.

Over the course of the next twenty plus years, the Cincinnati Bengals, though not the most dominant team in the league, had some modicum of success. They appeared in seven NFL postseason tournaments, winning two conference championships and providing us, as fans, two thrilling super bowl experiences in the 1980s.

Not only was the product on the field respectable, but the Cincinnati Bengals were a proud, honorable franchise with a proud, honorable owner. They carried themselves with honor, dignity, and professionalism. These values were instilled by the great Paul Brown. Then, sadly, Brown died.

Over the next twelve seasons, the Bengals were an embarrassment. They lost 137 games, losing ten or more nine times in twelve years. The high point came in 1996, an 8-8 record. If the honorable gentleman who founded the franchise had witnessed the bumblings of his beloved franchise throughout the nineties and into the early aughts, he surely would have been disappointed and embarrassed.

However, if Paul Brown were alive today, such disappointment and embarrassment would surely pale in comparison to dishonor he would feel at the horror, disgrace and utter travesty that is the Cincinnati Bengals in 2016.

This is an organization that is actively harboring vicious, violent criminals within their ranks. And they have been doing so for some time now. If Paul Brown were alive today, I do not believe that Adam Jones or Vontaze Burfict would be Bengals. Perhaps Carson Palmer would. Rey, get out while you can; you deserve better.

Marvin Lewis is obviously a keen football intellect. He has guided the Bengals to unprecedented regular season success. However, something is clearly missing. I am not intimately involved with the situation, but from what I can surmise, there must be a lack of maturity and a disregard for order and the rule of law. Clearly there is a lack of discipline and control. To have a single player wreak so much havoc not only for himself and his team, but for multiple franchises, and indeed, the entire league, speaks volumes about the Cincinnati Bengals ability to compete in a civilized and sportsmanlike manner.

The league needs to step in and do something about the Bengals penchant for harboring criminals. And they need to do something now: before someone gets killed.

No Flag !

What I think's more disturbing than this type of dirty play, is the fact, the officials know it's going on and don't always penalize for it. Especially when it happens to our players.

Wasn't it Burfict that speared Joe in the gut last season?

The Refs didn't think that warranted a flag either!

If I recall correctly, Joe popped right up, while Burfict went out with a concussion....

I would like to see some statistics showing how many penalties teams get away with, while playing the Ravens.!

Three games isn't enough.. he isn't in the game to play, he's there to see how many players he can take out.  He has no business on a football field.

first i have to say i believe the game moves too fast for a human to stop and go as fast as the officials want. if the league wanted to prevent injury they should keep the time moving instead of stopping clock so often. ...yes, i know what your saying this will kill the advertising dollar" not really. Second, burfict, single handily toss this game in the crapper. this is the problem of today's game. players are going for the highlight hit instead of tackling. if he went for the tackle; it would be the bengals playing next week.

Can guarentee that is Burfict floored a Patriots reciever like this, or put his knee into Blue-eyes Brady's collar-bone the way he did to Ben Rothlisburger in that vine that's getting around, he'd be suspended for a lot more than three weeks.

That hit on Max was just flat out wrong, and if Max wasn't a big-necked country lad it could've been a pretty serious injury.
