[News] Late For Work 1/11: John Urschel Says Vontaze Burfict's Hit Against Ravens Is Worse

Burfict is a great player... he just needs some people around him to reel him in a little. He can be a super star if he was in the right organization... I just don't think that Cincy is the right organization.

I see Matt Birk takes his no-long-sleeves policy seriously. I clearly remember him tweeting something like he lost all his cred towards players who wear long sleeves - I guess it was for the snowy Vikings at Ravens game in 2013?

SSS will be an incredible sportscaster. He is entertaining, intelligent, witty and he makes me laugh out loud. SSS is the "Sound Bite King" and I will certainly enjoy SSS in his next career. Til then, love that SSS is back for another year on the field with us.

3. John Simon plays on a defense along with JJ Watt, Vince Wilfork, and Whitney Mercilus who drew pretty much all of the protection.

If he was still here, he would play along with Suggs, Dumervil and Brandon Williams... That's not bad a trio either.

Marvin Lewis should keep his job. I thought that the officiating clearly favored the sqeelers once again. How is the hit from Shazier legal but the hit from Reggie Nelson not????? How can Porter be not just on the field, but over at the other teams sidelines instigating once again and not be penalized... yet the refs (who let that situation get out of control by allowing stuff like that to happen) flag Pac Man in that situation -with the game on the line for something that petty! If the refs controlled that situation to begin with and didn't allow porter all the way over to the Bungole sideline... that stuff wouldn't have happened. You cant let the refs determine the game... I don't like either team but the bungole got robbed bc the league and the refs always favor the sqeelers! SMH THe Rooneys and Goodell... bad for the NFL!

Funny though, how a couple years ago some ravens fans wanted him picked in the draft for us

Most of them probably still do so - they said back then something like "OK, he has his issues, but the Ravens locker room will make him grow up."

Well, I'm one of those who are glad he's not in Baltimore. Being great in what you do isn't everything. I consider Belichick as easily the greates coach in today's NFL - but I wouldn't like him to come to Baltimore (even if we had an opening and he ws interested), because as great HC as he is, he's also famous for not respecting, time to time, the "lines" you don't cross in the NFL.

Cundiff's miss was worse. We had a trip to the SB on the line. The Vikings were playing for a trip to the divisional round, where they most likely would have been eliminated by the Cardinals.

On the other hand, Cundiff's FG, if made, would only have tied the game, while the Vikings would have almost certainly won...

But, I guess, there's no real point in trying to decide which was worse - for us, Ravnes fans, it's inevitably the Cundiff one.

Evans drop pass was the worse. Cundiff would only tied the game.

Billy Cundiff's miss would have tied the game and sent the into overtime, it was not for the win. Just saying!

Part of that is why Cundiff is no longer with us, and we have Tucker now. And I'm almost certain Walsh will be back with the Vikes next year.

Probably. Walsh had a very productive season - apart from this last, really lame attempt, of course. They would be insane to cut him.

Burfict is a super talented player, but easily the dirtiest player in the NFL. Such a waste of talent. If he doesn't get at least a 1-2 game suspension then the NFL can no longer state that they are looking out for the safety of the players because his actions are by no means unintentional.

I guess Burfict plays the way linebackers played 2-3 decades ago, when players weren't worth tens of millions, so they were much less protected.

Burfict is a thug. If not for Suh, he would be the dirtiest player in the NFL. He is a talented linebacker but he brings a lot of baggage. His baggage cost the Bengals a win yesterday. This guy cannot be controlled. Until the league puts a stop to his and Suh's antics and stops making excuses for them, nothing will change and other thugs will follow.

That's a good point. Still, If Cudiff sends us to OT, I think we have a much better shot at winning the SB than the Vikings if they make that kick yesterday. That's why I think Cundiff's was worse. We were extremely close to the SB and would have had a great shot to win it. The Vikings had very little chance to get there even if the kick was made.

However, in the long run, it may have evened out for us, because if we won the SB in 2011, Cam Cameron probably wouldn't have been fired the next year, and we never would have had that great run in 2012.

Yes but a couple plays before Lee Evans missed the game winning catch that bounced off of his hands and chest. Then we had to settle for the kick then Cundiff missed.... That was like 5 shots to the chest on that final drive. Plus wasn't ours in the AFC championship game? This was in the wild card round... The super bowl depended on it. I honestly think that ours was worse. Sure it would've put them ahead but given the circumstances that lost us a super bowl appearance.

How great is it that Burfict cost them the game Saturday! Now they see why no one else wanted him. He is the type of player that may help you win a few games but his total lack of self control will always cost you a game in time.

A friend of mine said just after the game.... It looks like the Vikings just got "Cundiffed"... While I agree, and believe that Walsh feels just as bad, if not worst, he is a good guy. I hope they can move forward with him.

That jerk should be suspended all of 2016. DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY

Not enough.  Football does not need him.  I advise a permanent lifetime ban and referral to the various state prosecuting attorneys where he has committed these assaults.  If you will put control of criminal assaultive behavior where it belongs, the courts, I think you will find it will drop off quickly.  That way you take it out of the hands of the protectors of such behavior, namely Goodell and the team owners who foster/allow such behavior.  The NFL has shown it cannot police itself or its players from inside.

The right organization for him is a state penitentiary and the people around him need to be prison guards which I predict is where he will end up someday after his playing days are over.

Yes, we definitely feel their pain. The thing is -they aren't thinking about Cundiff on that play. They have their own past miseries to reflect back on. Gary Anderson in the NFC championship game back in 1999 is what all the Vikings fans are thinking.

Now Pacman Jones claims that Antonio Brown was faking the head slam injury. Sure. Limbs flopping like a rag doll and you could see Brown's eyes rolled up in his head the instant he was hit. Pacman should just zip his mouth rather than confirm his stupidity. I am so grateful that Jones and Burfict are not Ravens.

Truthfully?  I couldn't believe that the Bengals took PacMan back.  what an idiot.

You got that right! NFL as a whole is greedy and thinks it's fans are stupid.
