[News] Late For Work 1/11: John Urschel Says Vontaze Burfict's Hit Against Ravens Is Worse

88 posts in this topic

Should be a minimum of 4 game suspension for Burfict, but that will never happen. The guy is really gong to hurt someone, maybe permanently. No place in the game for a guy who does those kind of scumbag things.

And Saturday night is why Burfict is not part of the Ravens' roster.

With repeated dirty hits, a dozen a season, he shouldn't be part of any roster. If it was an accident here and there, that happens, but he gets in trouble for dirty shots at least 2x a season.

I never understand why you would go out in a game to intentionally hurt someone. The ankle lock, the blatant helmet hits.. ban the scum.

Lets not forget Burfict tossing a camera and cameraman who appeared to be in his 60s to the ground after running out of bounds a few weeks ago. He is a despicable human being.

My question is why did Porter and Munchak not get more than a fine for their action???....Rules clearly state coaches are not allowed on the field, especially in the faces of the opposing team, unless they are checking on a injured player, and Muchak pulling a players hair?? Seriously???? Now as far as the Bengals, you would think Lewis would have more control of the two players on his team with bad reputations....Harbs will bench you if you fumble, imagine what he would do if a Raven behaved like they do in a playoff game...Marvin take control of the team or they will continue to disrespect the game, and the team....

Just noticed on PFF that 1) Toussaint had the second highest Steelers PFF score, 2) Jah Reid had the second highest Chiefs PFF score and 3) John Simon had the second highest Texans PFF score. So they are not good enough to be Ravens but are practically the best on other teams that made the playoffs. I think that's why some people have questions about the FO these days. I could be wrong.

Because if Porter got a penalty, then the winning field goal would have been that much harder and the Pitts could have actually lost! \sarc

So all those who felt we should have signed T.Smith to a big contract...Well UDFA Aiken had a better year, Smith had 33 catches for 663 yards 4 TD's, and Aiken...75 reception for 944 and 5 TD's, and cost much less than a 40 mil deal....Just saying...Love T.Smith as he is a home town guy, and has a incredible story on what he did to make it to the bigs....

you did watch Jah Reid in Baltimore right he was awful so after 5 years he finally improved some John Simon I liked him as a player but he was stuck behind Suggs and Dumervil and even Upshaw and Toussant I thought was a decent back but not better than Forsett or Allen and it seems like everyone loves West even though I'm not crazy about him but what do you do. Of he 3 Simon is the one I would still like to have

In Burfict's cheap shot to Maxx Williams, he made an absolutely deliberate attempt to hit high, to target Maxx in the head. The NFL needs to bring the hammer down hard on Burfict, including a lengthy suspension. Burfict is likely to paralyze or kill another player and the targeting will NOT stop unless the NFL uses it's power to intervene with the maximum consequence. We play the Bengals twice a year and if something isn't done, it's a matter of time until Burfict ends a player's career. I do not want us to go in to the 2016 season with Burfict only given another meaningless NFL fine or 1 game suspension. Nothing has gotten through to this headhunter so far and anyone on offense could be the next target. Maxx wasn't even the QB's targeted receiver but he was certainly targeted by this dangerous and out of control thug.

Really don't see why people want to give Marvin Lewis a break. If all the dirty play and hit are continuously happening then at some point it becomes a coaching issue. A Bengal player was even quoted as saying that they are always held unaccountable by the coaching staff and because of that the dirty hits keep happening. Lewis is part of the blame too.

Every team in the league who has played against the Bengals should send in their clips of headhunting or cheap shots by Burfict on their players to the NFL. The blatant aiming for the head of Maxx Williams is only 1 example of so many dangerous "player safety" rule violations. Yet, Burfict continues with more of the same. If every team would send the astounding # of dirty hits to the league at the same time before determining the consequence to Burfict, maybe it will get the NFL's attention as to how often they have let him get away with this, in addition to those Burfict was fined for. This is the dirtiest player in the league and the pattern of dirty play is overwhelming and habitual. It's time for the NFL to step up and take the most serious action possible, maybe unprecedented consequences, including a mega game suspension or ban.

Burfict!!!! It's not just Burfict. The "fans" set out to toss liquids and other debris on the injured Roethlisberger. They don't need a stadium. They need a pig pen to watch games in. Foul group of yokels in Cincy.

Was Burfict fined for the head shot to Maxx Williams? The intent to injure is clear and without regard to the rules of player safety. If Burfict was not fined, he should have been. My question to the NFL, if Burfict was not fined for that Williams dangerous head shot, why didn't you fine that hit as well?

Yes he was fined even tho there was no flag. I don't know the amount. No Flag? SMH

Burfict is a thug, as long as the Bengals allow this type of behavior then they will always be a "wanting" team come playoff time. Championship games expose character, both bad and good. GO RAVENS!

Marvin Lewis has always taken questionable character players, maybe that's why they win the division. Who would you choose to play for you a player that might be a little overly aggressive or a boy scout, and I'm not condoning the play of Vontaze Burfict! That's what football is controlled aggression, but there is a fine line between aggressive play and criminal assault.

1. Toussaint got the benefit of a defense that was stretched out to stop the pass. There's a reason he was on practice squads all year.

2. NOBODY would want Reid back in Baltimore, he was awful. He could be a better fit in KC's system, but one week is not enough to justify wasting a roster spot on him. He wasn't going to beat out Yanda, KO, or Urschel on the depth chart at guard, and Wagner was arguably a top 5 RT at the time Reid left.

3. John Simon plays on a defense along with JJ Watt, Vince Wilfork, and Whitney Mercilus who drew pretty much all of the protection.

Thanks for the info. Good. I feel better knowing Burfict got fined for that hit on Maxx. I am worried about next year if something major isn't done to get control of Burfict...or just give him the boot

Cris Carter is one of the few players I would have really loved to see play for the Ravens. Just like Steve Smith: he was just as good as much fun.
