LOL @ trade Steve Smith. I guess you missed the part when he stated before the season started that he was retiring.  Trading SS was not an option.

Are you shocked he didn't pay attention?

He would of been useful to a team shooting for a playoff run this yearnthat needed a receiver like the patsies or back to Panthers or the chiefs or packers. I'm not surprised Homers missed that idea!! Mention trading a home town player and homers lose all channel of thought.

Um.  Didn't he go out for the season week 5 or something. .. This This isnt Madden or or fantasy football, basketball you can't just move players because it sounds good.

Much later than that. Regardless of the politically correct thing he said. He would of welcomed a winning team and atmosphere and have a shot at winning a Superbowl championship ring. But I do understand Homers not wanting to move players. Homers do fall in love with almost any player wearing a home team Jersey. Joe Cool could throw more ints than TDs and still be a franchise QB to the Homers.

Per Zrebiec:

At this point, the money that OG/OT Kelechi Osemele is going to get on open market makes a return to the Ravens highly unlikely.

I'm still a bit intrigued by this, since I've basically read nothing suggesting what the "market" will be for him. By now, at least most of the "high end" FAs sort of already have an estimated "market price" for how much it will cost to sign them, but I've literally seen nothing on KO.

Certainly should hear more in the next 48 hours as KO starts meeting with other teams, but I would think it would be north of $10M a year, and I don't see the Ravens going higher than that, nor should they.

Further from Zrebiec:

Ravens would love to keep him and made him big offer. But w/their cap situation, they can't afford to pay in $10 mill range per year for him

This is insulting to yourself and others. If you can't express these opinions without name-calling, then perhaps the idea isn't that good.

Yeah, that's my guess. He's likely going to get 8 figures annually on his next deal, and the guaranteed money could be really high... possibly in the $30-40M range in guaranteed money.

He's just not that kind of player from what I've seen.

Going to hurt a ton losing KO. Going to have to sign or draft at least 2 offensive lineman.

Current line is Monroe, Urschel/Jensen, Zutta, Yanda and Wagner. Monroe gets injured, which is just a matter of time, we could be in serious trouble.

I think Jensen surprises people and takes over the LG position as well as Wagner took over at RT in 2014.  Urschel will still be a good backup option at LG/RG/C.  Monroe at LT will be the issue.  If he stays healthy all year (I laughed a little) then it's not too bad but if Hurst has to come in that will be ugly for Joe.

There's a ton of moving pieces that could change our LT spot in the next 2-3 months.

If we miss out on KO, we could keep Monroe and look to add veteran depth to the position, or possibly a mid round draft pick. We could also target Stanley in the draft, which makes all the sense in the world, and replace Monroe that way. Or, perhaps the least likely, is we could head into FA and try to find a "value" LT there, depending on how the market shapes up.

I honestly don't really have any concerns about LG... that will sort of take care of itself. Yes, whoever plays that position won't be as good as KO was there, but I don't expect a catastrophic drop. LT is the only position on the Oline that needs to be addressed.

Per Jason Cole, but he's not exactly a great source:

Continue to hear #Ravens have only limited interested in bringing back OL Kelechi Osemele. Don't want to guarantee much. Will pay yr by yr.

Yeah, read this also.

If that's the case, there's a zero percent chance he gets resigned. You're not getting him without substantial guaranteed money and at least a three year commitment. He'll land that on the open market easily.

That is a lot of money to invest in a player with past back problems

I mean that's mostly just speculation on my part, since I don't know the exact market or what other teams are thinking.

Most of the higher paid LTs, which is what KO will be, generally get at least 50-60% guaranteed money. So if he were to sign a 5 year, $50M deal, I'd expect it to have at least $25-30M guaranteed. The bigger or longer the deal, the likely the more guaranteed money.

Anthony Castonzo just signed his deal with the Colts, and he got $35M guaranteed at an AAV of just under $11M.

He had back problems 3 years ago and his back hasn't been an issue since.

Seems like whatever they did to fix it worked.

He missed 2 games in 2014 and another 2 in 2015.  It was a knee injury last season but I don't remember the 2015 reason.  He does have a slight injury history.  Not on Monroe's level, but then not many are

EDIT: I meant to say I don't remember the reason for missed games in 2014, not 2015

Well you mentioned back problems, so I was stating his back wasn't an issue since 2013.  Since then, the 4 games he's missed were due to knee injuries.

He did have issues with legs and back but unlike Monroe, he often played through those. If KO doesn't suit up, you know it really hurts.

But will it stay that way? I'll be the first to admit I don't know all the details of the back injury he had then but we have given contracts to other people either coming off injuries or with injury history and have gotten burned recently. K.O. is going to get paid as if he is a top O-linemen and he is going to have to play to that level to live up to the contract. The way I see it, if everything goes right, he lives up to the deal. But if that is the best possible outcome, you aren't getting value on the contract and there is a lot of room for things to go wrong.

Steve Smith isnt a "home town" player... and everyone that points out the ridiculousness that sometimes exists in your posts is not automatically a homer. You throw that word around loosely, most of the time when it doesnt even apply. Are you sure you know what it means?

I get that.  But football is a VERY physical sport. I would say the odds of ANY starter playing all 16 games is less than them missing some games due to injuries.

No one can predict injuries at all.  We would love to think that when we give a guy a new contract or draft a rookie that they'll be physically available to play, but the reality is, injuries happen.  You just hope and pray that they're minor and not frequent.

Agreed on the injuries front but that doesn't mean you can just ignore possible warning signs. We have done that often enough recently

If he did, he would realize he's the biggest homer when it comes to Campanaro.  The WR who can't stay healthy longer than a TV commercial.

Sucks to hear we most likely won't be able to keep KO but 10 million a year is ridiculous. He's not even close to yanda's level. I get that he's young but who knows how he'll keep developing. Also, I'm not that high on his LT play either... looked extremely average to me. Now at around 9 million a year, I could live with that to keep him at LT. I'd rather spend that money on a pass rusher or corner. Still wish we could keep him.

Per Garofolo:

Raiders making strong push for OL Kelechi Osemele. I'd call them the favorites. As I tweeted earlier, it'll be for more than $10m per year.

Hudson, KO and Gabe Jackson would make the meanest interior in the league.
