[News] Ravens Want To Add One Or Two Wide Receivers

60 posts in this topic

please lets just get a free agent receiver who is proven since we aren't able to draft or develop one. Lets use our picks on pass rush, corner, safety and left tackle. We need to just accept this is one thing we don't do well so lets rely on someone who can do it and get their free agents.

alshon jeffery is too expensive. boldin would be cheaper or maybe go after reuben randle. they need to do a better job with finding receivers in the 3rd-5th rds.. we really need to address the pass rush and secondary with the 1st couple of picks and even left tackle if osemele is not resigned

Now that Ramsey won't be on the board when we pick,Laquan Treadwell will more than likely be the BPA left on the board as long as Dallas doesn't take him.Hargreaves got exposed late in the year and isn't a sure thing,we have tackles so there's no need to draft one of those and it wouldn't make sense to draft a DT when we have BW and one of the best run stuffing front sevens in a league that barely runs anymore.Treadwell is easily the smartest and safest pick on the board.Unless we pick up a good WR in FA,I'm going to be EXTREMELY PO'ed if he's still on the board and we pass over him.Treadwell,Perriman,Gilmore and Williams would make a great offense. The TE's could make plays over the middle,Perriman could take the top off and Treadwell can make the tough catches. He's like a Dez Bryant or Boldin. He's open even when he's covered. He could grow into the possession role Boldin held down for us and play right into one of Joe's strengths(being aggressive and throwing up risky 50/50 passes in a spot where only his guy can get it).

If Ramsey and Hargreaves are gone... Treadwell FTW

Monday night, check out cornerback Mackensie Alexander of Clemson in the National Championship game. Could be worth dropping down a few spots and adding more draft picks to get this shutdown corner.

I think it is very possible that Perriman will get hurt again next year.

It's very possible that anyone will get hurt next year. As far as Perriman goes, I don't think his PCL injury will affect his chances of getting hurt again at all. I have never heard of a PCL sprain causing chronic injury issues. No matter how long it takes to fully recover, once it's healed, it's healed. The only case I know of where someone missed that much time from a PCL sprain was Keenan Allen, who took more than 6 months to fully recover before his rookie year, and he has had a productive career so far. Perriman didn't have any serious injuries in college, so I don't see any reason to think he can't stay healthy in the future.

if you would have asked Ozzie if he needed to add quality depth at ANY position he would have said yes. With all the receivers we have on IR plus the ones who are healthy we could get a good receiver with really good speed in the 3rd or 4th round and be in good shape.

I hope that Aiken continues to be a solid player for us. In the last half of the season, Aiken was covered by the opponent's best defenders since injuries forced him in to the #1 WR spot. When SSS and Perriman come back, they are likely to get the bulk of attention from the top CBs so Aiken could be a very viable asset and successful target. Aiken really stepped up when we needed him to this year. He has made some tough catches, taken some brutal hits, just shook off the pain and went on to the next play. Hope Aiken fits well with our plans and schemes next year. Aiken worked his backside off and has proved he can play as tough as any Raven.

Can't believe the stuff I am reading in this thread!! Ramsey over a stud receiver??!! Last I checked Seattle has to win shootouts all the time. Ramsey is not going to make a 6 win difference!! However everything is in place for a young #1 receiver to catapult the offense to elite. Can't believe peeps are saying add more Tandon Doss' and David Reeds and draft a dude with like 3 ints in 30 games.

It will be interesting to see if they draft Treadwell at number 6. I dont think they can count on Perriman, Aiken, Butler, Campanaro are not play makers.

Agreed Salamander.  I really wish that we would utilize all our receivers instead of honing in on one or two all season with them taking the brunt of the workload. It would certainly help give them the opportunity extend their health for longer sustainable periods if they aren't overused.  I really think SSS would have lasted longer if he wasn't targeted SO often.   It would also help open up our offense if opposing defenses can't just hone in on one or two WR's because they think that is all we have. lol.

I hope that Flacco can learn from Mallett playing and see that his WR's can actually catch the ball. Get the ball there and stop these touch throws which you are clearly not capable of completing. Else all the WR additions won't help. I prefer Mallett personally if Flacco can't connect with receivers. I really would like to see Mallett get reps with the starting offense next year. Flake please take something away from the games you didn't play this season. You got all the mechanics I want to see you use it!

It's gonna be a tough choice between a WR and a CB in this years draft. Having a shutdown corner or a true Nr 1 WR are both very tempting options.

So true Grapple. I just hope that the offense strikes a balance in play calling and targets next season. We were a bit too predictable, even before the injuries, knowing that SSS was Joe's primary target. Trestman has had a year under his belt and gotten to know the strengths and weaknesses a bit better, team-wise and player-wise. I agree that we need to spread the ball out more for health and strategy reasons, including mixing in more run plays. Joe relied so heavily on SSS and that just can't happen next year if we want to maximize productivity and to avoid the overuse of SSS coming back from a major injury. When offense or defense becomes too predictable, we shoot ourselves in the foot and it gets on my nerves. If we fans can predict the play or target, certainly the opposition can too. Hoping next year the OC and DC can fine tune how they are juggling their players and play calling to out coach the opposition. If so, our individual players are going to find increased success, meaning we will be winning a heck of a lot more games. And, to state the obvious, I rather enjoy winning...... and never want to get used to losing.

I'm very optimistic Ozzie will finally surround Joe with better weapons and more of them. Honestly we're not even that far off. If Campanaro can just stay healthy, he's showed that he can be a big asset to this team, the steelers game was a great example of what he can do. Aiken has proven he can make plays for this team even though he's not a true no.1 WR, Butler seems to be a pretty solid possession WR who can make tough catches, Matthews looks like the big bodied redzone threat we hoped Marlon would be, Perriman if nothing else will at least provide a deep threat if he doesn't turn out to be the fully rounded no.1 WR we drafted him to be, SSS at this point is a bonus, and whatever dynamic no.1 WR Ozzie said he would get through most likely the draft or FA. With all those factors heading into the 2016 season, if Ozzie can finally get the young gamechanging WR we never had(assuming Perriman isn't the answer) our WR corps looks bright.

We could add one receiver in tge draft and one proven YOUNG guy in FA. I don't want another receiver 30, 30 something or older I want a young proven guy....I believe in the ravens though 2016 were rite back in playoffs

Giving Flacco time to throw the ball is just as important if not more! The OT and O line need focus if KO leaves the team that means we are out of a Tackle and a Guard. Monroe struggles when he plays, just not sure he is the answer at LT. Put the focus on Offensive line, Pass Rush, CB, WR, and then any developing needs in that order. Just my two cents

I don't even know what adding one or two receivers really means anymore. Does it just so happens that every year we've consistently added more than one or two or three receivers every year since I can remember.

All we need is one big bodied wide receiver that is actually a game changer, and one slot receiver that is clutch, and we are set. I thought Darren Waller could be that (big bodied) guy, but I am sure he is not.

Im not worried about LT. Keep Monroe afterall he is under contract or draft a guy like Le'Raven Clark LT 3rd round Texas Tech prospect 6'6 320lbr.

As for wrs.. yes bring in 2 WRs. Completely agree with what was said at presser. Smith sr is 37, so you dont know what he is, Perriman is coming off a bum knee so hes a question mark. Aiken doednt have 70 catches if injuries font happen anybody with a brain knows this so hes only a 3 at best.

You gotta get one of those top 3-4 wrs in draft. Treadwell, Thomas, Coleman, Doctson.. all picks likely in firsr 40 selectiins.

Then go back and get another guy in 3rd round or with all those 4th round picks(likely having 3 with 2 comps projected)..a deep threat big athlete like Braxton Miller wr, maybe speed guy Will Fuller Slides to 4th, or someone like Aaron Burbridge out of Mich St

flacco specifically pointed out the 3 receivers the steelers have and how it opens up an offense and running game when defenses cannot double cover one man. this team needs a go to dominant receiver. maybe perriman is that guy but he is a ? at this point with his injury. i like sss and aiken as the #3 and 4 guys so now they need that #1 or 2. boldin and reuben randle could fit the bill if it is not addressed in the draft.
