I'm just happy that the season is finally over.

Me too, what a lacklustre ending.

Speaking of Flacco, remember how the media got on Flacco for being too boring? Good times......good times.

Media gets on people for anything that attracts clicks

You really think so?  Guess you don't like defense. I thought it was great to watch the way Denver dismantled the Panthers O.

For me, last year's ending was the worst in years with a team failing the way the Seahawks did. I mean really, how do you just give away the SB like that? Throwing that pass on the goal line had to be one of the dumbest plays ever and was a horrible ending to the season . Guess it all depends on your perspective.

Exactly.  This has been one of the worst seasons I can remember.  My friends said it was a fitting end to a horrid season as well.

That game was still better than this game.

He did storm off the field without shaking hands after the SB loss to the Saints' but to his credit, composed himself, gave them credit during his presser and even semi-explained his behavior.

Peyton basically threw Wayne under the bus after that SB loss I think.

Instead of learning, Cam decides to continue to be the petulant jerk.

Clueless.

I like that mentality personally.

The game was better.  I dislike the Pats as well but no real fan can say this product was better than last years.  It's also funny because I notice refs let "good" defenses get away with things they would never dream of letting say Will Hill get away with.  But that might just be my perspective.  I've watched dbs grab and hold all post season yet when our guys did the same thing and even to lesser extent at times the hankies hit the field.

And the people negging my comment on Cam and losing....

I guess you all hated Lombardi too then right?

Because I'm pretty sure that's a DIRECT quote.

Inconsistent enforcement of holding and PI has been an issue forever, and it does seem like the better known guys get better treatment.    Watching guys like  Revis and Talib hold and contact downfield without penalty while others breath too hard on a receiver and get flagged sucks.

Why is it hate this, hate that? That quote reflects immaturity, regardless of the source - and, yes, Newton got it from Lombardi. What benefit is being a sore loser when everyone is focused on you and judging you after a poor performance? The backlash is a reflection of that. I don't hate Cam Newton but he showed immaturity.

If he had handled it differently, the same backlash might be sympathy. Doesn't matter, I guess. He came out and said he doesn't care about it so why argue about it? He laid his personality on the table and isn't going to apologize for it, people can judge for themselves.

Vince Lombardi was probably an immature guy, too. Doesn't keep him from being a good football coach. This is another Lombardi quote:

“Once you learn to quit, it becomes a habit.”

Cam Newton's explanation of why he didn't go for the fumble:

Newton also defended himself for not diving to try to recover his fumble in the fourth quarter that eventually was recovered by the Broncos. Denver went on to score a touchdown to put the game out of reach.

He said that he would have risked injury by diving as it would have meant he would have had to twist his leg in an awkward direction.

Newton said that if he had thrown an interception and not tried to make the tackle to avoid an injury he likely would have not heard any complaints.

"We didn't lose that game because of that fumble. I can tell you that," he said.

Wow. Makes me wonder what he was doing when he actual threw his pick, which was also subsequently fumbled and Denver recovered... couldn't find that angle, but maybe a 6'6, 250lb guy going for the ball could've made a difference.

My point was no one should like losing.  Not everyone is going to be nonchalant in a loss.  These guys are human.  And I didn't mean the general "hate" that everyone uses.  It was just to be sarcastic.

And there's no excuse for not diving for that fumble.  I'm watching that play trying to figure what's going thru his head.

Nonchalant isn't the same as professional, in my mind. He's the league MVP and the spotlight is on him, which is what he wanted. The way to minimize negative public perception would be to answer the dumb questions and move on. I don't think He made it a bigger issue with what we saw.

But, again, he already said he doesn't care.

lol Glorifying bratty behavior. Teaching all those kids that look up to him how to be a brat. Nothing to like about that attitude. You can hate losing without acting like a spoiled brat. If you want to be in the spotlight when you win, celebrate and be over the top - better put on your big boy pants and learn how to lose graciously.

Ugly game, defense dominated and the better defense came through and won it. Their pass rush and overall speed was pretty incredible. Peyton did nothing to help them win but it did not matter, defense won that championship.

Von Miller was all over the field. Obviously the pass rush but ducking into coverage - the play where Cam Newton scrambled, MIller left his man, and met Newton on the sidelines with force. It was a nice, legal hit - such a good hit that a Panthers player felt he had to defend Newton's honor after it.

Aqib Talib is a fool and did his best to cost his team, earning about every foul the refs could give. Same guy who eye-gouged a Colts player. What can you say about him?

Even though Gary Kubiak left us, you have to feel good for him. First guy to win a SB as the head coach of the same team he played for. It meant a lot to him, and he has been gracious to the Ravens and John Harbaugh the whole way.

It's impossible to talk about that Denver defense and NOT talk about the mistakes Cam Newton made. He's the OPOY, MVP, etc but came up very small in the game and after the game. The fumble dance was weird and basically inexplicable, he just didn't want to go for it in the biggest moment of his career thus far... It looked like Denver was faster than he anticipated and they were not afraid to hit him.

He tried to Belichick the press conference but came off more as a sore loser than grumpy curmudgeon - not that either are very befitting. Answer the dumb questions and leave, every player has to do it, it's annoying but you get paid for it, only becomes a story when you make it an issue. He's never been a decent loser but he had all eyes on him tonight.

May not be fair to single out Newton but, when you invite the spotlight, you better perform well. Still can't get over the fumble thing... Thomas Davis and his busted forearm would've jumped on that thing if he could. It was weird. Something that Vine and Youtube capture for eternity.

Feel bad for Michael Oher, that was a bad game.

Good summary for SB 50......defense win championship slogan never dies....

He already said he didn't want to get hurt. Business decision. Yes, he quit on his team.

Well the panthers O really wasnt that good it just beat up on mediocre defenses for the most part. Pats vs broncos, vikings vs hawks, bengals vs steelers, steelers vs broncos were all better games if you ask me. Good defense is great to watch but only if the opposition isn't embarrasingly pathetic. We got smashed on the o line and we still made the game very close.

It really was a stinker. The best NFC teams I had no feeling towards and they had a crappy blowout nfc title game. The superbowl was another awful game too and there were teams that should not have made it like the texans and redskins.
