[News] Terrell Suggs Coming Back, His Loss Underestimated

20 posts in this topic

Great to see #55 returning. Let's hope it's a full strength. Also very good to see the owner emphasizing as a top priority a pass rusher. And let's hope that's one who is a legit D lineman and not one that is commonly referred to as a hybrid. That is, one who can actually push an O lineman backwards.

Bisciotti made me smile with his astuteness in assessing the reverberating and subtle, yet profound, impact the loss of Sizz had on the defense as a whole. He practically quoted verbatim the analysis of some of the commentors on this site from very early in this season. The loss of the 2011 NFL DPOY and the dominant figure of a league leading sack duo from just last year placed a burden on the shoulders of the defense that few people truly appreciated. And I think it went underappreciated by fans because no one from the team itself dared to be seen using that as an excuse. It would have been unprofessional. But the facts didn't escape discerning eyes.

I would have rather had lost Flacco and see Sizzle stay healthy, Defense wins games, not offense,I've been saying that for 8 years and still getting Negs for it. As bad as Flacco was these past 8 years the defense pulled through for him Big Time, he's no better nor worse for it I would rather trade up Flacco for some great footballers on both D and O-lines, Why is it all about Flacco and his so call weapons. we're not talking about Rosthlisberger, Brady, Manning, Cam Newton or even Teddy Bridgewater. Flacco looks like a Zombie in the pocket compare to these QB's. How come Tucker hasn't been signed yet, what are the Ravens waiting for, everyone blames the coaches, the critics blames the players, there's no fire in any of the Ravens players except for maybe SSS,  If I was Tucker, I'd try the market to see what's out there, If teams like Pittsburgh,New England or any of the 8 very good teams can pick up the tabs then Tucker should joined that team. If he is soooo important to the Ravens, then why isn't he signed yet I want to know, I don't want to see or hear anything about the Cap Ceilings, that's all BullCrap. I've got a million more questions and no answers

Just stop backloading contracts and creating salary cap situations where guys are overpaid. Flacco is worth 20M if that is the going rate for a SB winning franchise QB, but 28.5M is just absurd. He was making far less than that the last 3 years under this contract and now we have to pay up and don't want to. Go ahead and extend him out, drop the cap number for the NOW, and backload the contract even more so were paying 30M a year for 35 year old QB. It all makes sense... NOT

I really like Steve. You can tell he is a smart guy that has honor. Nothing he said makes you think he he BS you. John you could tell he really love the game. Ozzie needs to learn to google and he would have learned about Perriman's knee.

Go Ravens!!!! Next season has officially started.

I know Harbaugh stated that next season started a few weeks ago but now its official.

Cant wait to get all the guys back healthy and ready to play they just have to get that SWAGGER back and play with a serious chip on their shoulder.

I agree w/what you are saying. However, Joe is not being paid $28.5 mill this year. It's his cap number, which is a bit different. Either way, I agree w/your main point.

The Signing bonus spread out over the length of the contract evenly, along with his base salary = $28.5M. It is his base salary that is escalating because it was suppressed the first 3 years of the contract.

Considering how many close games we lost, I honestly feel that a healthy Suggs would have resulted in at least 4 more wins and a trip to the post-season.

IMHO, we need to switch to a 4-3 defense. Stop dropping linebackers into zone space and blitzing corners and safeties, which take too long to get to the QB. Four down lineman always going after the quarterback and send an outside linebacker on obvious passing downs for a five-man rush. Disguise blitzing linebackers.

If we continue play this game as though the offenses, quarterbacks, and -just as importantly- the RULES, don't favor a quick release passing game, we'll continue to look at losing seasons, regardless of who's playing linebacker.
