[News] Top Questions For Ravens' Season-Review Press Conference

32 posts in this topic

Didn't we just draft a WR in the 1st Round? And now our fearless leader SSR is coming back. And we developed Aiken and Butler into reliable options as well. We don't need Julio Jones, we need JJ Watt or Justin Houston. (Emmanuel Ogbah). We need to stop the best QB's in the league. The best way to do that is to minimize the time they have to throw, minimize the time our corners have to cover so they can play more confident/agressive, and lastly GATA.

Besides adding players at key positions (WR/DB/DE) I really think they need to bring in a QB coach for Flacco; he reverted back to his old ways too often this year and if that's not corrected it really doesn't matter who he's throwing to.

franchise tag tucker, resign k.o first.....upshaw can be resign for cheap.....he's not going to draw a big contract so he's not crucial....signing K.O is major and tagging Tucker keeps him next year which buy us more time to strike a deal during or after next season. reconstruct joe contract....bring in a couple more pieces and prep for the draft....wouldnt be surpirse if marlon and art brown is traded but art plays well on ST

I know the obstacles the Ravens face to do it, but I think letting KO go somewhere else would be a huge mistake. The Ravens want a consistent, dependable, durable LT for the franchise....there he is. Monroe is good when he plays, but he has a durability problem. GO RAVENS!

I sure hope the questions are more to the point then in previous years. Ozzie dodges a lot of questions but some of them should be answered directly. It's interesting that Steve may not have had them down to his house in Florida. I'd like to see him clamp down with his expectations and lite a fire under some butts. The receiving corps question needs to be addressed directly for starters. Not the game plan but the acknowledgement that Ozzie continues to neglect/fail to find a viable solution. Cornerback as well. Steve told them last year we needed a pass rush and bang it reared up again. Cass doesn't get pass with all the ugly contracts either. Collectively they have all failed in the front office. But if were asking the questions. the one I'd like answered most is If we don't succeed in the next draft what would be Steves take and remedy to wasted prime opportunity to retool and infuse benchmark players. Harbaugh's feet shouldn't be solely held to the fire if he's not choosing the players. It has painfully obvious that the old smash mouth player has it's pro's and con's. And sinking money into players because loyalty isn't paying dividends in respect to closing the gaps in the conference or league wide. It's really time to rethink the whole process of identifying the problems having dead money and contracts that prevent the team from plucking playmakers from teams in salary cap purgatory. Cass should be fielding the cap questions and there should be many posed.

11 Aiken, Kamar WR 6-2 215 26 3 Central Florida

83 Brown, Daniel WR 6-5 225 23 R James Madison

17 Butler, Jeremy WR 6-2 213 24 2 Tennessee-Martin

81 Clay, Kaelin WR 5-10 195 24 R Utah

13 Givens, Chris WR 6-0 203 26 4 Wake Forest

84 Matthews, Chris WR 6-5 218 26 2 Kentucky

Draft: Sterling Sheppard - OU

Final roster:

89 Smith Sr., Steve

18 Perriman, Breshad

Sterling Sheppard - OU

84 Matthews, Chris WR

15 Campanaro, Michael

17 Butler, Jeremy WR

12 Waller, Darren WR

81 Clay, Kaelin WR

I wouldn't hate this lineup too much if we came back with a healthy TE and RB group(as well as oline).

Speed on the edges severely needed at Rush LB/DE, CB and WR. PLEASE lets get back to getting after the QB and being the attacking style defense we all now and love here in Bmore, If we can get back to having a great pass rush that we are all use to, a lot of the other thing will fall into place after that, the NFL today is about protecting the QB on offense and having a balanced attack and getting after the QB on defense.

pass rushers are top priority followed by secondary help, ilb. i give up on drafting a pro bowl receiver so hopefully the guys we have or acquire will get the job done

Ditto on a pass rushing OLB. Most of the defensive issues that were getting blamed on the secondary were due to the QB getting a lot of time to throw. QBs get intercepted when they get hurried, and so the lack of turnovers can be directly attributed to lack of pass rush, both in terms of strip fumbles and INTs.

Am I the only one who is still holding a tiny candle flame of hope for Arthur Brown? So disappointed he hasn't broken out.

Don't get me wrong here because I love the way Osemele plays but right now the biggest problem with Monroe is his durability.  Before being traded here he missed something like 2 games in 4 years.  Osemele has already missed most of a season due to back surgery and seems to miss games for recurring knee problems as well.  I don't think we can afford a deal he will command either considering we have already been feeling the cap pinch in recent years.

In Biscotti's presser he spoke about his appreciation for Suggs and the realization of how important he was to this team. How Ozzie envisioned ZaDarius would be used in YR1 as McPhee's replacement, and that he now realizes how important it is to have multiple pass rushers. He mentioned that there would be an emphasis in the offseason to ensure that we have multiple guys who get get after the QB. My money says we take a pass rusher in the 1st or 2nd Round depending on how they see CB depth, but we also have plans to use multiple picks on rushers.

More soft ball questioning ! The media in attendances ask such leading and weak questions. Ridiculous. Ozzie dodged the Perriman question period. When asked if he knew about Perriman's knee he whiffed badly. It's telling of the non acknowledge of the bad gamble. Not asked about the dead money ! Not asked about the true expectations of the next draft. Not asked about the hindsight in previous drafts. Little league performance by the media. That's why the problems persist ! Free pass for everyone cause I like hanging out at the castle and the lunchroom lol

Yeah true. Maybe he tells what he thinks and mandates without the camera's in his face. Probably not but wishful thinking on my part. I also hope Ozzie doesn't tip his draft hand as usual by bringing in players that they deem important via the draft only to be plucked before our selection i.e. Diggs. It gets our hopes up and quickly dashed because your tipping your hand. I do see some goners for sure. And to say Webby is an upgrade without due process speaks volumes.

My thoughts from the presser-

1) Ozzie reiterated that if he has to- he's perfectly comfortable going into the season with Joes cap # exactly the same.

2) Ozzie confirmed that Webb's move to free safety is a permanent one and he will be part of this team moving forward.

3) we indeed did lose monachino to the colts.

4) Steve's urge to add pass rushers has not declined and probably has gotten stronger. He stated that they will add multiple guys via the draft or FA.

5) Ozzie also stated that WRs (plural) will be added. We can rest easy knowing we will not go into the season without addressing the position.

6) Bisciottis relationship with both John and Ozzie is stronger than ever and he definitely showed how much he values continuity. He said he has no more questions for them than he did after the superbowl win. This guy gets it, and I'm proud to have him as our owner. He has patience and really understands how this season just spiraled out of control.

7) they will continue to try and get a deal done with tucker- but if one is not reached oz said he is well aware of what the cost of franchising him will be- and pretty much implied he will do so if necessary and that Justin will also be a part of this team going forward.

These are just a few notes off the top of my head- my connection wasn't very good so I will have to go through and watch it again this evening.

What are they going to do about our future DC now, since Ted went to the colts today

Excellent question. Hopefully they pluck an established coach thats been released and soon before the picking get slim. The cream of the crop will start to emerge come payoff losses. Look for a scapegoat in any failures in advancing into the Super Bowl as well. Prime candidates will probably coe from Cincy. Marvins track record in the playoffs isn't great and to lose again would probably aid in some dismissals.

People need to realize that this new look Ravens team is rolling with the assumption that the offense will carry the load vs the defense. Sure defense will still to make the stops when needed but it has become very obvious that the reason the Ravens are having difficulty in the division is more due to points put up especially vs bengals. The defense does need some new additons/depth but the offensive side of the ball is where the money is mostly invested. I for one want to see Ozzie ensure this offense can click on all cylinders, even with some injuries. Face it they will happen. Need a solid WR contributor in round #1 or #2. SSR is great to have, but they need to ensure a smooth transition when he does call it quits, especially with the money invested on offense. Perriman should be good to roll next year, but who know's with the knee issue, how it will affect his play plus the time off recovering. Aiken looks to be a solid #2 but beyond that there is too much inconsistency and reoccurring injury. I only see the Ravens using 2-3 picks for offense this year and the rest defense. Just take care of offense first, as putting up points helps out of defense as well as just ball possession.

What gets me is the media has so much to say on social media but when they had the opportunity to ask the tough questions everybody wanted to play nice. I saw no indication that this team will be coached any differently next year than they were this year. What a shame to us as fans.

I thought the State of the Union was done well with pretty good Qs and As.

Now hopefully the Ravens follow through specifically, Getting back to our identity of running organization, more run balance. (Harbs addressed Trestman playcalling)

Needing more Pass Rushers, domino affect left after Suggs injury..killed entire defense. Agree. (Steve B)

That put everyone on defense out of position all year.

Then addressing fact they need speed, and not one but maybe two wrs.. you got to build wr depth

(OZ)

The issue is we need to draft & sign FA play makers... start with playmaker#1 take a #1 WR in the 1st pick... The Ravens were in the bottom of the league in TD's ... the object is to score TD's and a lot of them... That means a Great Hands WR playmaker w/capability of YAC & certainly in the redzone... separation, catch the ball and score...

If the pass game can score and gain chunks of yards... you take early leads in the games & then you grind the ball to chew clock... plus the D pins its ears back and pressures the one dimensional catch up opponent... That's where the Defensive backfield Playmakers take over and win the turnovers game... play makers... Score, force fumbles, and make Picks & pick-sixes... That is what this team lacks... we need Playmaker CB's & safeties... We are too slow in the D-backfield.. 1st you have to be able to keep up the the receivers & and then you need quickness & position to pick the throw... Playmakers Playmakers Playmakers .... else its 16 & done again...

If that happens then it will be time for Ozzie to go....

don't know what you were watching . I thought the questions were very in depth , straight forward and to the point. How did Ozzie dodge or whiff on the Perriman question? He clearly stated no he had no knee issues before and he injured his knee the first day of training camp. Not much more he can say.

speak for yourself. I'm relieved that our FO is not dumb enough to give knee jerk reactions and do some major overhaul just bc of one down season. Continuity is key in this league, and the coaches were not the problem this year. Injuries did us in- combined with being on the wrongend of several bad calls and just plain old bad luck. All we need to do is add a playmaker or two on each side of the ball and we will be more than fine.
