[News] Courtney Upshaw Doesn't Wonder About Future With Ravens

26 posts in this topic

On Defense, we have solid players like Upshaw, D. Smith and great ones like Suggs, Doom & B Williams. Where we hurt is in the D backfield. That said I think it is more an issue of DB coaching first. We could use better DB coaching, a shut down corner and another pass rusher. That would put us on top defensively. Offense should be ok once everyone is healed.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope 2015 is never heard from again.

I get the feeling another team will overpay him. He's been a solid performer but you only pay BIG $$$ to those who have the ability to become great. Upshaw does not. To many other pressing needs to fill. Thank you for the four years.

I'd love to see him stay. As always, it'll come down to the numbers. He's been a solid, steady player for us and for that, most fans are surely grateful.

Who knows at this point what they're going to be able to afford, Flacco contract is a big hit on the cap this year and until that's resolved what are they can they do?

In an effort to get that pay day, he kind of put his wrong foot forward during the Steelers game (foot off sides on Jimmy's goal line pick 6). LOL, sorry had to do the irony pun thing! GO RAVENS!

another words-- "show me the money!" history shows ravens won't chase a player that they deemed a mediocre player. i see upshaw going to philly or jacksonville should he not stay. after all anything is possible.

In all honestly, a guy who can do what Upshaw does on the edge, but can also get to the QB in passing situations is what we need. Emmanuel Ogbah will make a career out of harassing the QB. I take him with my number 6 pick. Trade back up with all the comp picks and our 2nd Rounder to draft Mackenzie Alexander before he is gone. We need impact guys, not guys who might be good enough to contribute on a team.

worth keeping...When we lost Suggs we had Z forced into action, and i don't want to have to rely on another Rook OLBer if Doom or Suggs gets hurt....He is battle tested in htting his prime, and comparing him to JJ is a huge compliment....

If he does happen to leave I'm going to miss those huge hits on Ben

And those other clutch big hits he's had. Remember the hit he put on the RB during the super bowl causing the fumble.

If Upshaw can be signed at a fair price without getting into a bidding war for his services, I think he should be signed first and foremost. He is just that important to our defense and a tone setter on defense. His stats may not tell you how useful he is to the grand scheme of our defense. Just see how Pees responded when asked about Upshaw.

I hope we can keep him as well. Always have liked Upshaw. I think he's highly underrated by the fanbase. He's good, and there will be teams out there looking for a guy like him. We need to try and hang onto him.

We can probably keep Upshaw, and make it work for him and the team. He is a solid professional that shows up every week and produces. But he didn't have the lights out season like Ellerbee or McPhee had in recent years approaching free agency, so other teams may not be offering up big money for Upshaw. Hope were able to keep him as he makes a nice complement to our playmakers on D.

Upshaw is young just coming into his prime. But thats usually when the Ravens freeagents leave, young and in their prime. He an Osemele are history.

like iv'e said since they let MCFEE go,bad move,if they were close he would of stayed, relentless players like him and yes,MICHEAL MCRRARY don't grow on trees, you get what you get with UPSHAW and OZZIES ALABAMA BOY'S,the RAVENS don't always get it right.the PATRIOTS MOTTO is the most competitive person, yes,PERSON, then PLAYER at their DRAFT spot and you can see their success,I hope the ravens hear this and make some changes, they seemed to used to have this but OZZIE is getting comfortable with the BAMA pick's.

Edge setter? Baloney. Just in the last game I saw him get stuffed inside while the Bengals ran around him for big gains. Let him go elsewhere. He another one of these Ravens linebackers who can't cover anyone. Our team is full of them. Someone will overpay for him just like they did with Ellerbe and McClain. If they didn't keep Krueger, they sure as heck shouldn't give Upshaw that kind of dough. They have too many holes to fill.

I hope Upshaw stays he is a very good player at stopping the run. Like Pees said he's a tough guy. You need some guys on the team to bring the attitude and the hits, he's one of them. He works hard and doesn't get a lot of shine, I don't think people realize how valuable that is. You can look at teams with good defenses and compare him to KJ Wright of the Seahawks. A guy who does his job and comes relatively cheap(compared to the other players on the team).

Upshaw might not be a star, but he's a very tough and dependable player who fulfills his role and is always ready to go. If the Ravens can resign him for the right price, they should. That said, the Ravens need to draft an edge rusher in case Suggs can't come back.

they can't rely on Suggs or Dumerville next year. They need to work things out with Upshaw at the right price...otherwise let him move on.
