According to Raul Martinez of FOX 31 Denver, it "sounds like" the Bears have offered a four-year deal to free agent ILB Danny Trevathan.

He is apparently looking for $8M/y

The #Dolphins deal with pass-rusher Mario Williams should come today, sources says, and it's expected to land him $8M per year.

Former Bills and Texans DE Mario Williams and Miami Dolphins reached agreement on 2-year deal, per sources.

I don't think the Dolphins will ever understand how to build a team

My point is more so of they keep over paying but have nothing to show for it when the season starts and they don't improve with the signings. While us and the other teams I mentioned are consistently contenders every year when we let guys go that people say would hurt us. Then those same people say what a difference that player will make, then nothing changes.

The Jags aren't building in FA like some of those other teams are though - they have a new GM who's building through the draft and it's obviously taking a few years because rookies don't just come into a team bereft of talent and take it to new heights right away (and the guy's first draft was 2013 - 'nuff said). That's why they haven't started competing for the AFCS yet, not for the fact that they've been big spenders in FA recently.

And it's not like the players they've brought in have been duds either. Julius Thomas had a rough start to the season, but did really well in the second half and should keep doing really well if he stays healthy. Davon House has been criminally underrated. Jared Odrick's also been one of their better front seven guys, and should benefit from having more talent around him. They've got a glut of space, so it makes sense to keep adding talent while their core of drafted guys keeps developing - and I expect they'll make a good run at the division title this coming season. You can say all this stuff about the Raiders too btw, they've got a lot of young talent so complementing them with proven guys until their current rookie deals expire makes a lot of sense.

I can't speak for the Raiders here, but the other thing is that the Jags' contracts have been structured so pretty much all the dead money comes off the books after the first couple of years. Zane Beadles (who I thought was a bad signing at the time) and Chris Clemons had literally no guaranteed money, while Jermey Parnell (who's been decent enough but was an example of the Jags overpaying by a couple of million to get some talent in place) has no guaranteed money after this season, making him incredibly easy to get rid of if they don't find an upgrade.

The point is that while they've been overpaying for guys, they've been overpaying during a time where they have way more space than they need because all their best players are still on rookie contracts. They can afford to take a massive, unwieldy hit for a couple of years, but the guaranteed money has been coming off the books pretty quickly too, meaning even if a FA underwhelms it's not like they've hamstrung themselves long-term. They can just re-evaluate how their players have fared, keep the productive ones and get rid of the duds. In the meantime, guys like Bortles, Robinson, Hurns, Yeldon, Linder, Fowler, Smith and Colvin can keep getting better now that they're actually getting immediate talent around them. Over the next two or three years, watch as the big-money contracts go to those guys instead of the top FAs on the market. Guaranteed.

Hahaha, yep. The money they cleared by restructuring the current Suh hit gets truly ugly over the next few years, but they're continuing to spend big when they shouldn't have the space for it.

It's pretty amazing to watch teams just continue to do what's been proven not to work, over and over again.

After visiting with the Giants and the Buccaneers, DE Charles Johnson now plans to return to the Panthers, per team sources. Big return.

Charles Johnson telling me he almost signed with the #Giants. “I came pretty close, but ultimately my heart is in Carolina."

The Titans just snagged Ben Jones away from rival Texans. Huge Upgrade on the OL. Then adding Tunsil, Mariota will be protected.

The jags have done ok in free agency. It's also important to note these bad teams have to overpay because no one is going to sign there all things being equal over a top contender.

Yet  again Dolphins with by far the worst offseason decisions thus far.

The Jaguars are now adding RB Chris Ivory meaning it will be a TJ Yeldon/Chris Ivory 1-2 punch in the Jaguars backfield.

Peyton Manning retired.... Check. Malik Jackson signed elsewhere... Check. Broncos release some veterans... Check. Re-sign Brock Osweiler.... Not going to happen.

There is now a report that the Broncos & QB Brock Osweiler have stopped talking and ceased negotiations. Schefter reports that if Osweiler does leave Denver he is likely to land in the AFC South as a Houston Texan. Oh boy.... is this the downfall of the Denver Broncos?

They might as well sign Matt Schaub and call themselves the Denver Texans.

You know there is another Colts QB that will be a free agent after the 2016 season, and I bet Elway will try to pry Luck from Indianapolis just so he can continue the Broncos streak of winning Super Bowls with QBs drafted by the Colts.

I won't lie, that would be hilarious if that were to happen.

This situation with Miami is difficult to understand. They restructure the contracts of Ndamukong Suh, Koa Misi and Cameron Jordan to create a good deal of salary cap. Kudos on those moves. They then release Greg Jennings and Brent Grimes, which are seemingly understandable decisions. Good so far. However, they then trade for Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell. The Alonso gamble could deserve a a pass since he'd be better off as a Will in an even front and his contract is less than $1 million. And they're fortunate in that Maxwell's contract seemingly contains no guaranteed money beyond this season per Spotrac. But then they decide to sign Mario Williams, an aging LE coming off of a down season for $8.5 million per season despite having an aging superior LE on the roster who if released will save them almost an identical figure. So essentially, instead of keeping Wake and re-signing Olivier Vernon, who quietly had a marvelous campaign, they've signed Williams who'll offer no cap relief if Wake is given his walking papers, and gave away assets for a CB whose $10 million average was widely viewed as a major whiff after a letdown season instead of using that money towards Vernon. This is such a strange scenario.

It came out late last night that the Dolphins are believed to be rescinding Vernons transition tag today. That means he will be a free agent also.

He will be able to sign with any team. He should get a massive contract.

That they are. He was able to sign with any team regardless under the tag. Miami would've had the right to match but certainly not the cap space needed. It's more of a formality at this point so they can use the tag on another player. I'm almost glad to hear that their deal for Byron Maxwell fell apart. Vernon will be paid very handsomely.
