I thought there was supposed to be a salary cap floor with the new CBA  and it was supposed to be eased into and be in full effect by 2014 where you're supposed to spend 92% of the cap and this was done for the players so I just don't get how some teams are still getting away with being cheap.

I'm not sure if this is a team by team basis or whether its the whole NFL combined that needed to get to this number but still man this is bullcrap.

Just FYI, the "salary cap floor" doesn't apply to any individual year. Teams are required to spend 89% of the salary cap, but in TOTALITY over a four year period from 2013-2016 and again from 2017-2020.

So teams are NOT required to spend 89% of the cap in any given individual year.

Also, the "penalty" for not doing so just means you must pay up to the 89% limit to the NFL, however you don't actually have to use up the cap space.

When they first announced this I totally believed each team had to spend up to a certain limit each year. Did the players get anything lol? They must have they reelected DeMorris Smith smh.

According to what I read some teams are gonna be owing a hefty bill. Theres no way teams like the Jags paid an average of 89% between 2013-16.

Let's play Tag!

- Bills apply Franchise Tag to LT Cordy Glenn

- Broncos use Exclusive Franchise Tag on OLB Von Miller

- The Dolphins apply the Transition Tag to DE Oliver Vernon

- The Jets have placed the Non-Exclusive Tag on DE Muhammad Wilkerson

- The Panthers have placed the Franchise Tag on CB Josh Norman

Rams are letting CB Janoris Jenkins hit the market. The Rams are opting to Franchise CB Trumaine Johnson instead.

Transition tag for Vernon is interesting.

In an incredibly weak pass rusher market, I can definitely see a team prying him away with a big offer. Dolphins are in a pretty bad spot in terms of cap space, so they're definitely at risk of losing him.

I personally think he's quite overrated in terms of being an elite-level pass rusher, but again, given the large amounts of cap space some teams have and how bad the FA market is for pass rushers, could be interesting. Also an interesting choice, given that the Dolphins just lost Charles Clay to another team via the transition tag last offseason.

Other guys are pretty much just what we expected.

The Eagles have re-signed QB Sam Bradford to a 2 year contract. So now we take the Eagles out of the First Round QB race.

$36M deal, with an alleged $26M guaranteed.

Definitely a reflection of how thin and dire the FA QB market is when Bradford, who's arguably a below average NFL QB, gets $18M a year.

Panthers release DE Charles Johnson, save 11M in cap room.

Texans release Arian Foster.

Now why would anyone want to leave Cleveland?

They don't call it the Factory of Happiness for nothing.

How good can LB be if the chargers released him?

More release news:

- The Texans have cut Rahim "The Dream" Moore.

- Remember the $80M in cap room the Jaguars have? They cut DE Chris Clemons saving them $4M in cap space, and cut G Zane Beadles freeing up $5.5M in cap space. $90M in cap space now, someone tell the Jags they don't have to pay Bortles $100M+ yet or their young receivers.

In Bronco QB news, the Broncos have yet to inform Peyton if they will release him from his current contract if he decides to continue his playing career. As for Brock Osweiler, it does seem they are done with Peyton and made a "Substantial" offer to Osweiler who as of now will have the Texans in pursuit if he becomes a FA next week.

What a joke. Since I see Jags fans every day, it's news like this that makes me hope we beat them even more next season.

The jags have eyes on KO and Bosa. Definitely a team that will be contending. Those players cut are mediocre. Not difference makers. It is not about the cap space.

Patriots? I dunno.

He's probably looking for a new, expensive contract. Patriots might be too frugal.

They could also make a play for Eric Weddle because they need a lot of help on the the backend.  There's so many players they could sign and still have 50mill easily next year.  I think Raiders end up with KO

Or puts them right in the thick of it. Draft a quarterback, let him sit for two years, have him take over when Sam is a FA, again
