50 mil guarenteed is a lot

Not when you're the Redskins.

Should be a better investment than Haynesworth though. Norman seems like he wants to prove himself and be the top corner.

The real numbers are starting to come out. In hindsight, the first two years are fully guaranteed. Meaning in reality it's a 2 year $36.5M contract. By March 2018 another $13.5M becomes fully guaranteed in which he would already be age 30.

I've always liked Mettenberger s potential but he might be a head case.

So the Broncos are reportedly offering Von Miller 114M+ with 39.8M guaranteed and the sides still aren't close... what does he wanna be paid more then a franchise QB?

He probably wants more guaranteed money. Personally, if I'm a player, I don't care how much I can earn because you're probably not gonna earn even half of that; I'm worried with the guaranteed money because that's money I know I will definitely see.

I mean I get that but I think even flacco has like 44m guaranteed how much more can he want?

I was discussing this with my friend is an avid Broncos fan and we were debating on if its worth it to pay a defensive player that much money.  Miller is no doubt a beast, but unlike a QB he cant consistently win games by himself.  As we are seeing when a player gets his big pay day, other players have to leave, usually its the QB who gets the big pay day though.  Thoughts?

I mean, the market keeps annually increasing for every single player, so I have no issue if Miller wants that type of money (well, I do because that money is insane to someone like me), but once Miller signs this deal, he'll no doubt be dwarfed by Luck and Donald and Mack in a few years. It's just that way with the salary cap. I say let him have his couple months of fame.

I would just have an issue giving that much to a defensive player because you have to bank on your rookies playing good for cheap.  The plus side is, their QB play cant really get much worse.

Well, do you not pay him and miss out on the destructive force he is? That's losing a guaranteed 12+ sacks and 40+ hurries. Not to mention the attention he commands.

I know you said defensive players aren't worth that, but in Watt's first DPOY season, he was disruptive (sack, hit, hurry, pressure, TFL, batted pass, or stuff) on literally one third of his plays. Is that not worth the money?
